Totally private basement apartment centrally located near Bedford L train in Williamsburg Brooklyn. Be where the hottest shops, bars and galleries are just steps away, not to mention the Brooklyn Flea, Smorgasburg, and the Riverfront Park and Ferry.
*please note! This is a separate apartment! it is NOT a shared space or room. I am getting many inquiries asking this - it is just a great price for a completely separate and private apartment!*
Simple *air conditioned* basement apartment has all the bare necessities to keep you comfortable when you need a break from the fabulous neighborhood of Williamsburg!
Located a half block from the Bedford stop on the "L" train and next door to a 24 hour health food store, you cannot get more central than this.
Within just a few blocks' radius you will find cuisine from a dozen different countries, bars, nightclubs, music venues and the hottest clothing boutiques.
A quick walk away from Smorgasburg, the Sunday Flea Market, the East River Park, Ferry Service to Manhattan, the newly opened McCarren Park Pool.
Gorgeous shared backyard had grill and large table for entertaining.
Both onstreet parking available and parking lots in the neighborhood.
Television and wireless internet service. Small washing machine.
I rent this space each summer for my Russian neighbors who will be off visiting their children. It is a real one bedroom with a full sized bed in a private bedroom and a pull out couch good for one person in the common space. Kitchen with all the amenities and single bath with shower. The apartment now has an air conditioner that you control.
This space is best suited for 2 people, but a third can sleep on the pull out futon/couch in the common area.
Simple decor, but clean and well kept.
Only guests have access to the apartment which is totally private and are also welcome to use the backyard which is shared with 4 other units.
Interaction with Guests
My husband is available if there is a problem or guests need anything as we own a small shop in the front of the building. But generally we have little to no interaction with the guests.
The subway and bus are a half block away on Bedford avenue.
Please, no smoking indoors, step out to the gorgeous yard.
I had a great time at this apartment! Here are the pros and cons:
1) Location, Location, Location!!! - This apartment was right in the heart of Williamsburg, one of the coolest neighborhoods in Brooklyn. You will be 1/2 block away from the Bedford Ave stop on the L train. 1 stop and you're in Manhattan. Tons of really great restaurants in walking distance and Smorgasburg is 2-3 blocks away if you're in NYC for the weekend. 24 hour health food store literally next door. The area was safe and always buzzing with people!
2) Lisa was lovely to work with. She was really communicative and very helpful. Also, she was really flexible in-terms of check-in and check-out times. Our flight wasn't leaving until 10pm at night, and we were worried we'd have to lug our baggage around NYC all day before we left. However, Lisa let us stay in the apartment for as long as we needed! That was a big help for us.
Cons (Not many of them):
1) The apartment is as advertised. It's a small, damp, a little musty, and there is no natural light. It was perfect for my group because we were small and spent most of the day exploring NYC, but if you want something fancier, I'd look elsewhere.
2) The pull-out futon had no bed sheet. I'd suggest bringing my own sheet if you want to fit someone in the kitchen.
Overall, the pros outweigh the cons in my book. Definitely worth-it to check out this apartment if you plan on gallivanting around NYC for the majority of your stay.
Studio très sympa dans un quartier hipster qui bouge, plein de magasins et restaurants. 20 minutes de Manhattan par métro, supermarché bio 24/24 juste à côté.
Great place in a great neighbourhood.
24-hour market just next door and only a block away from the Bedford Av L train stop. Many cool shops and restaurants in the vicinity and just 20 minutes from Manhattan.
I had a wonderful time at Lisa and Leo's place. This was a long sublet - over a month - so I got to know all family members (sweet and beautiful). Everybody, including the neighbors (with whom the lovely garden in the back is shared), were welcoming and kind.
Location wise this is a very central spot - very close to the L train which takes you to Manhattan within few minutes, a walking distance from Greenpoint, McCarren Park and the waterfront. To whom this may concern: the area is very vegan friendly, including an allnight natural products convenient store next door, and another bigger and cheaper one a few blocks away.
The only thing that bothered me was that the apartment (being located in the basement) was a little dark and damp, but I quickly got used to it and it does worth all the pluses of the place.
Highly recommended for those looking to experience Williamsburg.
Lisa and Leo were very friendly, communicative and made the entering/exiting a breeze.
If you need to be in the center of it all, this truly is the heart of Williamsburg. 1/2 block to the Bedford L and tons of restaurants of all price ranges around - including food trucks. Caution: you will have fun.
The apartment itself is a musty basement with a South American hostel / creepy museum feel. There's a "caution: enter at your own risk" sign on the door that at first I thought was a joke, but perhaps it's there for a reason? Heheh. It's one of the most quiet apartments I've experienced in NYC. Little sound whatsoever save the white noise of the AC. The shower has a high ease of use. My GF said she saw a bug of some kind, but I did not.
The backyard is romantic with a wooden table, chairs, sandbox (for the kids ;)) and christmas lights under a shelter. Internet works perfectly back there. Great place for evening drinks and morning coffees.
Rent the place if you don't have allergies and need to be rubbing elbows with all the action that is Brooklyn.
The best thing about this apartment is the location!! Nice and simple place with everything you need! It's small and dark but ideal when you plan on spending most of your time exploring the city! My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights there when visiting Brooklyn. We had the chance to enjoy the gorgeous and spacious backyard, the owners were very friendly!
We stayed a few nights here and had a great time. The bed was comfy, the kitchen functional, and I really enjoyed lounging on a futon in the kitchen while we cooked and talked. There is a beautiful back garden, and a nice organic store directly next door with fresh produce and COFFEE. The location was pretty phenomenal, close to the subway and a range of shops and bars.
Leo and Lisa were friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome but not pressured. That's a good combination.
The apartment is not fancy, but the price and location were right on. It met our purposes, hanging out with friends and playing in the city, quite well.
Apt just as described, really great location..fan is very low but overall pleasant experience.
