About this listing
Totally private basement apartment centrally located near Bedford L train in Williamsburg Brooklyn. Be where the hottest shops, bars and galleries are just steps away, not to mention the Brooklyn Flea, Smorgasburg, and the Riverfront Park and Ferry.
*please note! This is a separate apartment! it is NOT a shared space or room. I am getting many inquiries asking this - it is just a great price for a completely separate and private apartment!*
Simple *air conditioned* basement apartment has all the bare necessities to keep you comfortable when you need a break from the fabulous neighborhood of Williamsburg!
Located a half block from the Bedford stop on the "L" train and next door to a 24 hour health food store, you cannot get more central than this.
Within just a few blocks' radius you will find cuisine from a dozen different countries, bars, nightclubs, music venues and the hottest clothing boutiques.
A quick walk away from Smorgasburg, the Sunday Flea Market, the East River Park, Ferry Service to Manhattan, the newly opened McCarren Park Pool.
Both onstreet parking available and parking lots in the neighborhood.
Television and wireless internet service. Small washing machine.
I rent this space each summer for my Russian neighbors who will be off visiting their children. It is a real one bedroom with a full sized bed in a private bedroom and a pull out couch good for one person in the common space. Kitchen with all the amenities and single bath with shower. The apartment now has an air conditioner that you control.
This space is best suited for 2 people, but a third can sleep on the pull out futon/couch in the common area.
Simple decor, but clean and well kept.
Only guests have access to the apartment which is totally private.
Interaction with Guests
My husband is available if there is a problem or guests need anything as we own a small shop in the front of the building. But generally we have little to no interaction with the guests.
The subway and bus are a half block away on Bedford avenue.
Please, no smoking indoors.
Lisa contacted us right from the start and kept in touch as we needed. We were in the heart of Williamsburg. The location is a half block to the train and 3 blocks to the water ferry. So many food places, Starbucks and 24 hour grocery right there. The apt is what it is. Underground and small. But it is functional and was all we needed for our week in NY. The air conditioner is loud, but we were able to shut it off during the night to sleep even in July. It was nice to have a fridge and sink. We were able to just check out and head home with no issues.
Lisa & Leo are great hosts we had one issue that was resolved in a timely manner
Apt was clean and cool for the summer plenty of hot water for showers bed was comfy
location is the hot spot of Brooklyn for visitors
We didn't actually get to meet Lisa, but Leo was helpful in showing us around, and available to answer any of our questions throughout the stay. Great location, lots to do around and easy access to Manhattan as well.
Leo was very nice and work in the building in a watch shop. Lisa was away but Always ready to help if needed. The apartment is in very cool area. Great location. The apartment is a basement, no light at all, ceiling very low, no real windows for changing air. the is no sink in the bathroom. Basement is very dumpy and sad. Furnitures a nightmare. I would not recommand this basement. A russian old couple lives there during the year and when they are in Russia for holydays they rent it out. The backyard is used to store bicycles and garbage..... Also the L train is not only very near as station but it runs below the basement and everything shakes..... from six o'clock in the morning...........
Lisa was very nice and great with communication. You can't beat the location of the place, the neighborhood is fun, busy but laid back, safe, and there is plenty of great bars, restaurants, and shops. It's a half block to the train and one stop from Manhatten. The apartment is exactly as described and suited us perfectly. The bedroom was decent sized and the bed was comfy. We brought linens to use on the futon in the kitchen and that was comfortable also. It was a little damp but that's normal for basements, we turned on the AC and it went away. The fact that there was no natural light was perfect since we didn't get in until late each night. We cooked each morning, the full size stove and fridge were great. We had plenty of clean towels and everything else we needed. The yard and garden are amazing! Perfect for coffee in the morning and wine later on. The people we met out back were all friendly and interesting, a nice group. I would definitely stay here again!!
I had a great time at this apartment! Here are the pros and cons:
1) Location, Location, Location!!! - This apartment was right in the heart of Williamsburg, one of the coolest neighborhoods in Brooklyn. You will be 1/2 block away from the Bedford Ave stop on the L train. 1 stop and you're in Manhattan. Tons of really great restaurants in walking distance and Smorgasburg is 2-3 blocks away if you're in NYC for the weekend. 24 hour health food store literally next door. The area was safe and always buzzing with people!
2) Lisa was lovely to work with. She was really communicative and very helpful. Also, she was really flexible in-terms of check-in and check-out times. Our flight wasn't leaving until 10pm at night, and we were worried we'd have to lug our baggage around NYC all day before we left. However, Lisa let us stay in the apartment for as long as we needed! That was a big help for us.
Cons (Not many of them):
1) The apartment is as advertised. It's a small, damp, a little musty, and there is no natural light. It was perfect for my group because we were small and spent most of the day exploring NYC, but if you want something fancier, I'd look elsewhere.
2) The pull-out futon had no bed sheet. I'd suggest bringing my own sheet if you want to fit someone in the kitchen.
Overall, the pros outweigh the cons in my book. Definitely worth-it to check out this apartment if you plan on gallivanting around NYC for the majority of your stay.
Studio très sympa dans un quartier hipster qui bouge, plein de magasins et restaurants. 20 minutes de Manhattan par métro, supermarché bio 24/24 juste à côté.
Great place in a great neighbourhood.
24-hour market just next door and only a block away from the Bedford Av L train stop. Many cool shops and restaurants in the vicinity and just 20 minutes from Manhattan.
