This is a very cozy, VERY CLEAN, colorful and convenient place!!! Did I mention SPACIOUS!? Last minute requests are ok :) There is no harm in asking :)
UCLA (15-20 min bus ride), VA Hospital (walking distance), Culver City (25-30 min bus ride) or Santa Monica Beach (15-20 minute bus ride) are all within a short bus ride! If you walk or ride a bike EVEN BETTER!! (I do)
The Big Blue Bus # 1 (3 stop signs away) #4 (2 stop signs away). The Metro Line #4 is also 3 blocks away. Finally the Culver City bus #6 is 6 blocks away on Santa Monica and Sepulveda Blvd.
Little Osaka is the name that has been given to my neighborhood. On Sawtelle Blvd between Santa Monica Blvd and Olympic there are a wonderful series of Japanese restaurants, markets, cafes, boutiques, specialty stores and more! KARAOKE studios and fish market! It is one of LA's most interesting neighborhoods :) truly a wonderful place!
1. Your own bathroom, your own bedroom with queen sized bed (+ Japanese futon).
2. Large comfy couches (I also have a camping cot or sleeping bag with a nice camp mat if you prefer.)
All linen available! (no need to carry your own towels that take up space in your bag).
3. I have NO pets (I LOVE animals but travel too much- allergic to cats)
4. This apartment is on the second floor of the building, you will be going up and down ONE flight of stairs.
5. Street parking.
Balcony large enough for breakfast/lunch or a quiet dinner + fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, oven, microwave etc)! The dining table is large and perfect for sharing meals! Colorful environment and very friendly host! Near grocery stores, cafes, movie theaters and more! Coin laundry room on premises, dishwasher, Wi-fi, street parking in GREAT neighborhood! The place is decorated with original art that I have brought back from my many trips to Latin America.
On Sundays there is a farmer's market down the street which I love and go to every weekend. That's where I get my vegetables and fruits. You can also have breakfast or lunch there.
I am an LA native, have lived in this neighborhood all my life- I know the city very well and I LOVE it! So I would be super happy to offer tips if you'd like them. I also love to cook and bake, so chances are, we'll have the opportunity to share a cupcake or a piece of pie.
I ride around town in a bike and public transportation- I may have a bike for you to borrow :)
You will enjoy your stay- I am pretty sure :)
Look up Little Osaka and you will see the neighborhood and all it has to offer.
Your own bedroom with queen sized bed, your own bathroom, balcony, fully equipped kitchen, living room and dining area!
I'm a laid back host. I can help you if you need help, but I won't meddle in your space nor your activities :)
I love all the restaurants, cafes, bars, Japanese markets and the active environment of the whole place!

I am so glad I had the opportunity to stay at this location! Xochitl is a wonderful person and a great host. The room was perfect and the apartment is in an awesome location. The neighborhood is quiet and there are so many great restaurants and shops nearby, all within walking distance. And if you like Japanese food, you'll be in foodie paradise! I would highly recommend Xochitl's listing to anyone interested in staying in this part of LA.
We stayed at this very nice and cosy place for 7 days. Xochilt was a very pleasant and kind host and made us very much at home. Loved having the breakfast at the balcony. The neighbourhood is nice and it is close to Santa Monica beach. Can only recommend this place. Thank you Xochitl for making our stay in L.A. very nice and easy.
My son and I stayed with Xochitl for four nights and it was a wonderful experience! The apartment is warm and comfortable and we had plenty of space in the bedroom for our belongings. I cannot say enough about how easy it was to feel at home in Xochi's place. She is a fantastic host and makes a guest feel at ease immediately. I enjoyed speaking with her and will look back to returning to her place again in the near future!
Xochitl is a wonderful hostess. She is informative, helpful and very friendly. It is easy to stay in her apartment as you will have a private bath and a good size bedroom. She has many history books around if you are a reader and have time to read. The apt is located just two blocks from Sawtelle, a happening place with tons of Asian restaurants. Within two miles there is UCLA,, two major shopping malls and freeways to everywhere. It is quiet at night.
My stay with Xochitl in Little Osaka was so great! I didn't expect to leave Los Angeles with a new friend after only 4 nights but I did. Xochitl is everything other positive reviewers have mentioned, and more. She is an incredibly knowledgeable and interesting person with connections and helpful suggestions about being in L.A. Xochitl embodies the best as a conversationalist, world traveler, culturally and artistically astute observer, and compassionate and connected human being. She is a warm and thoughtful host in every way without ever being intrusive. Also, not to brag, but with Xochitl's help I spent a total of $2.00 getting to and from the airport using the city buses. L.A. can seem daunting with regard to public transportation until you get some coaching and then can get anywhere. It was wonderful not to rent a car!
I LOVED Little Osaka and especially miss the affordable and YUMMY take out at Nijiya Market on Sawtelle. Except for the fantastic dining possibilities and contented customers on weekends, the neighborhood is quiet and sweet with the smell of jasmine and honeysuckle softening the air. My room at Xochitl's was clean and basic with a comfortable bed and a decent shower in my private bathroom. Xochitl invited me to browse her great book collection which I enjoyed. I felt so at home! The hospitality was so warm and generous. There is a down-side though....I miss Xochitl and Little Osaka!
I was moving to LA and needed a place to stay while checking out neighborhoods and looking for an apartment. Xochitl was a great host - providing information on fun things to do while looking and great restaurants. I loved her neighborhood - both quiet and on the edge of a thriving restaurant/business area - but finally settled in a neighboring area. I was also still working - telecommuting by computer - so I had to set up an office in my room. Xochitl was there if I wanted to chat, but never intrusive. Staying with Xocitl allowed me to find an apartment sooner than I had anticipated and to have a great time while doing so. I couldn't have chosen a better sublet space! Thanks, Xochitl.
We stayed at Xochitl´s apartment and had a great time there!
Xochitl was incredibly hospitable to me during my 5-day stay in Los Angeles. She was generous in providing plates & utensils for my meals which she allowed me to prepare in the kitchen.
The apartment is very nice and clean, just as described, and the bedroom & bathroom were more than accommodating. The neighborhood is nice & there was plenty of street parking for my car. Great food within walking distance, both restaurants & grocery.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay - I would definitely stay with Xochitl again in Little Osaka! Highly recommended!
Xochitl is a very energetic, friendly, and busy aspiring history professor. She made me feel quite at home. I enjoyed evening conversations with her while she baked cookies and packaged her homemade chocolate bars for her friends. If you are not comfortable with homey clutter and slightly tired finishes, this is not the place for you. If you want to meet a genuine person, it works.
Xochitl's apartment is situated in a good neighborhood, very convenient to UCLA. I went for a walk early one morning and was treated to a little concert by a mariachi band serenading a couple on their balcony. The on-street parking can be difficult on street cleaning days and late evenings.
I stayed at Xochitl last summer. I liked her place a lot and then came back this time again. Her place gives you a feeling of home really. I am quite new to LA but felt so home while I was in her place. Very convenient to lots of kinds of restaurants. Easy to get to UCLA and Santa Monica by bus.
