My wonderful and spacious apartment in the middle of the old centre is above all very characteristic and is a city monument. It has a huge living room and a beautiful terrace with a view over all of Amsterdam, it is great just to spend time at home!
A monumental building in the centre of Amsterdam, located in the middle of the popular neighborhood the Jordaan.
The apartment has a light and spacious living room with an open kitchen. If you go one floor up you enter a characteristic bedroom with a double bed and a large wall closet. The bathroom is attached and has a bath. Another floor up and you'll enter the roof terrace (20 m2) that has just been renovated with oak furniture. The view over the old centre offers the Westerkerk and the Palace on the Dam among other landmark buildings.
The apartment features a fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher, a washing machine, dryer and wifi is available.
all of the apartment, except one small storage.
The Jordaan is full with small shops, restaurants, bars and galleries. Even though you stay right in the centre nearby all the interesting sights Amsterdam has to offer, you still can enjoy the peace and quiet of a calm street. Its know as the best neighbourhood in Amstedam.
At walking distance you'll find the major attractions such as the Anne Frank House, the Palace at the Dam, and the famous Canal Belt a UNESCO monument.
The neighborhood is famous for it's typical Dutch bars where you can sometimes hear people sing traditional Dutch songs while they're drinking their beers (the music is an acquired taste) Also close by are the Leidseplein with many bars and clubs, and the Vondelpark where you can easily spend an entire day picnicking and strolling around.
a tram station is 1 min walking from the apartment, well connected to all areas of Amsterdam and only 10 min from Central Station. However, the best way to get around in Amsterdam is by bike.
Parties are not allowed.
No smoking inside the house, but on the roof terrace it's OK
Please don't make noise at night in the house - there are neighbours.
Leave the apartment the way you found it
No check out between 22.00 and 08.00
My 2 children and I found the apartment in the Jordaan a wonderful way to explore Amsterdam. The apartment was easy to get to from the tram stop, which is around the corner. The street was charming, as was the neighborhood. A small street, behind a larger Boulevard, nestled between two canals. Quiet, in a hip neighborhood with many gems to discover, and neat restaurants and cafes to eat. We liked being able to walk anywhere, and taking the tram if we liked. Also the proximity to grocery stores, organic foods and the English Bookstore was nice.
The apartment itself was quite large, with a lofted bedroom/bathroom and a loft above that with a roof deck. We loved it, clean and spare. A neutral palette. Upon arrival our hosts gifted us with Dutch chocolate, wafflestroop cookies, fruits, juice and sunflowers! Like a Van Gogh painting! They helped me with my US cellphone, and made sure I could use their phone as a backup. Total sweeties. This was our first Air BnB experience, it was very good. We are hooked!
DO NOT STAY. Dirty, Filthy, Disgusting
Do NOT book this apartment. I booked it for an 8 night stay based on the pictures and good reviews. My husband and I were looking for a flat in the Jordaan for our honeymoon. The host was in New York during the time, but sent me a message that his brother would check us in.
After a very long train ride from north Holland, we arrived to meet the host's brother at 6pm on a Sunday night. The apartment was beyond filthy. Food and dirt all over the kitchen, clumps of hair in the bathroom sink, dirt and mud on the floors, marking and fingerprints on the walls and kitchen appliances. It smelled horribly of smoke, and all the windows were even open to air it out.
There were no sheets or towels and we were told by the host's brother that he would return with them around 9pm! He actually had the dirty ones in his arms as he left us. It was Sunday night and after a long trip we were wiped! Upon inspecting the mattress, it had dirt and large gross stains all over. Sheets or not, we were not sleeping on that. We were even instructed not to open the stove fan too much or it would FALL on you!
The listing also stated that there was a clothes dryer. We pack lightly and really wanted a washer and dryer where we stayed. When I asked about it, the brother stated "there's no dryer, I live 2 blocks away and you can use mine". I mean, seriously?? This listing was misrepresented and GROSS.
Even worse, when we left and canceled and sent the host an email explaining, he stated we could not cancel on him and he was keeping our money. Needless to say, I will NEVER book with Airbnb again and will make sure no one I care about does.
If I could give this place negative stars, I would!! Buyer beware!
I regret that Jackie did not have the experience she expected, and do
not recognize myself in her review. I can assure you that I always
send by a professional cleaner before the guests arrive, and it is my
highest priority to make sure my guests feel welcome and have a great
experience my apartment.
El departamento es muy lindo y espacioso!! esta muy bien equipado y tanto el dueño como la persona que dejo a cargo con muy amables, atentos y dispuestos! Les recomiendo este lugar!
My friend and I stayed in Witte's appartment for the weekend. Witte was an excellent host we found it very easy to arrange arrival and departure. The appartment itself was fantastic, exactly what we were looking for. It was very clean and spacious with our favourite feature the roof terrace with great views across the city. Very central and easy to access from everywhere. We would definitely stay here again...hopefully very soon! Thanks Witte!
Witte returned my reservation queries very quickly; it was obvious straight away that this was the place to stay!
Upon arrival in Amsterdam it is very easy to find the apartment, quick train from Schipol and then a 5-10min tram ride from central station (trams 14 and 17 - i think!).
Our host Witte was away working during our stay; however he organised for somebody to meet us and show us the place. It was perfect for us and the photos tell it all.
There is a great little kitchen with a separate wc/toilet on the ground floor of the apartment. The ground floor is open plan and very spacious and gets loads of light from the large front windows. There is a amplifier with a 3.5mm jack so you can plug in your mp3 android or iphone.
Upstairs leads to the bedroom and bathroom. The bed is very comfortable and has a mattress topper which gives great support. Loads of cupboard space for a long stay.
The bathroom is serviced by a combined bath/shower; the water pressure is good. There is also a washing machine in the bathroom.
However upstairs again is the real gem ;-) The roof terrace looks across Amsterdam and is fantastic with either a book or for drinks with friends. Purpose built benches surround the roof terrace; and there is even a hammock.
You are literary 10mins walk to Dam square, 10 to leidesplein and are surrounded by many of the other important parts of this fantastic city!
Thanks Witte (and Sean!)
We had a wonderful stay at Witte's large, yet cozy apartment. The Jordaan is the ideal area for shopping, galleries, restaurants and we felt like locals thanks to Witte and his friend Sean's advice. The apartment itself is very clean and spacious, and the roof deck w/ a hammock is the best way to enjoy a break from strolling around. Overall, a wonderful experience and Witte is extremely responsive and understanding. Couldn't ask for a better experience.
I'm an visual artist and I'm mainly working on films. For my work i'm often abroad, i've lived in Istanbul for a while and traveled quite a bit in Africa.
I'll be happy to introduce you to Amsterdam, especially about the cultural life I could give you some tips.
