The Historic Lodge, Boatshed , Cottage & unique “Glamping” units - Gypsy Caravans, Safari tents, Treehouse & Wheel House are in 2 acres of creative, tropical, water-front gardens, rich in bird life - Enjoy nature on the river, in stylish comfort!

This accommodation uses the Central Facilities Block including kitchen, hot showers, toilets and coin-operated washing machines and dryer. Hot water for showers is available 7 - 9am and 7 - 9pm. Also enjoy the River View Deck, Gazebo and BBQ.

The space
If you are on a tight budget, but still want to experience something rather special and romantic, then come and stay in The Wheel House. This is a renovated Boat Cabin from an historic steam boat, The Minerva, finished with sweet smelling Japanese Cedar and French doors.

There is:
- a double bed
- tea / coffee facilities
- fridge
- romantic furnishings.

All other amenities (showers, toilets and a well equipped kitchen) are a short walk away.

The view includes subtropical gardens and a large Phoenix palm.

Next door are famous heritage sites: The Maori Chief, Hongi Hika's Pa site, Rewa's Village and the Stone Store river basin with New Zealand's oldest settler buildings.

There are lovely walks to three waterfalls. Guests are also welcome to swim from our own jetty.

Our concept is to provide "a magical, integrated experience with nature at our special river front property yet with all possible comforts and a certain style".

We are looking forward to welcome you in the near future!

Guest access
Large, central water view deck complete with marquee and with café style seating for large groups, BBQ and Gazebo. We have our own Jetty and pontoon, ideal for swimming. Only the lower Boat shed is off-limits to children.

Other things to note
The Pagoda Lodge Estate comprises 2 acres of gardens and mature trees. There are creative, multi-tiered grounds offering many private and tranquil spaces. There is a gentle flowing river and wide views to the Inlet and adjacent, large Historic Pa Site. As such, we have plentiful and varied bird-life. Please respect our wildlife and do not feed the ducks.

The river is a fish reserve, so no fishing allowed. No children in the old boat shed (lower level) and no swimming without supervision of parents.

The creative tropical gardens and park like grounds go down to the edge of the river. We are surrounded by horses and luxury properties on one side and a river and famous, historic reserve and on the other side. The river flows down the entire length of our property and meets the KeriKeri Sea Inlet .

A public walking track begins adjacent to our property and leads to the Stone Store and Pa Site (10 min), as well as three local waterfalls (Rainbow Falls, Wairoa Stream & Charlies Rock). We have our own private jetty and you are welcome to swim in the river.

My wife, Kathy, and myself, spent more than 20 years in Asia and were immediately drawn to the harmonious balance of “earth, wind and water” at Pagoda Lodge. The pagoda roofs, the variety of rare and mature trees, the tranquil river and the abundant bird life all create a special atmosphere. Over the last 17+ years we have developed and fine-tuned the property, gardens and especially the Glamping accommodation options, to create unique places to relax and enjoy.
