  • The Guest House is just great! A really charming place in beautiful Waimea and decorated with love!
Although we didn't get to see Barrie, Joanna was around almost all the time and she is the nicest and most helpful person.
I can warmly recommend staying in the Lehua Suite Guest House!

  • We had a wonderful time staying in the Lehua Suite. Barrie and Johanna where amazing hosts. Barrie even showed us where a wonderful little farm was that sells locally grown fruits and vegetables. We enjoyed being able to see both sides of the island from this central point and spend most of our time exploring the island rain and shine. Waimea is a cute little town and Waimea Guest House is the place to stay.

  • My sister and I really enjoyed our stay at Lehua Suite. It was very clean and cozy. The Suite is well located and only a far minutes away from Waimea Center. We never met Barrie, but Johanna was there for us if we needed help.

  • Actually we were given the entire top floor apartment, which was really lovely, Johanna certainly has a sense of style! Also she waited up to welcome us on our arrival night, which was very much appreciated. The accommodation is conveniently located and peaceful.
We went in January, so it got a bit cool at night. Actually we didn't bother to ask for a heater; but I am sure there is one- they are very well equipped. Only thing I would mention is that there are thin walls between the rooms, and we heard guests in the neighbouring suite in the morning.
In summary we loved our stay and would highly recommend the accommodation and our host Johanna

  • Clean and sweet. Bed was comfortable. I never met Barrie, but she was easy to reach on the phone.

  • This is a charming place to stay. The room is quaint and cute. Our hosts were very kind and helpful (even offering us presents on Christmas eve)! The room is well located, a few minutes away from Waimea's center, a short drive to the beach and close to Mauna Kea if you want to gaze at the stars (do it, well worth it). Waimea is bit cooler than the coastline, nights can be chilly, but there are plenty of blankets to keep you warm.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Lehua Suite! The place was very clean and charming. The host let us use the grill and beach towels with boogie boards. We had our own little kitchen in the room with no regular big stove and microwave, but we had a hot water boiler, coffee maker, ricemaker, and electric skillet. Mahalo!
Great place if you are looking for a more quiet and relaxing place to stay!

  • The Lehua Suite was nice and cozy. It is in a great location in the middle of the island. I never got to meet Barrie, but she helped me get to the house with great directions. I would definitely stay in Barrie's place again.

  • Nice little room that was well furnished. The place is in a nice location if you want to visit Waimea.

There was no one else staying there when I was there, but it being an old house, I could tell the walls were paper thin, and it might not be so private when other guests were there. I doubt this would be an issue though, as Barrie says she doesn't usually keep guests in the adjoining rooms unless they are family.

    The garden was lovely!

Realtor in Hawaii
I have lived on the Big Island of Hawaii for over 30 years and offer you insights on where to go and what is important to see while here on the island. An antrapaneur I have MANY interests from sustainability, to designing and decorating homes, gardening, and healthy living in general. I have raised 2 daughters here on the Big Island where they love to return and bring all of their friends to share their most favorite beaches and adventures. As a realtor I know the different micro-climates & communities of the island extremely well and should you have an interest in re-locating to this island I would be happy to assist.
