Welcome to Casa Jungua, “House of Jungle and Water.” Take is easy at this unique and luxurious getaway. Beautiful, sustainably built home with every amenity for comfort. As opposed to the rentals at sea level, this home is on a bluff where you will have complete privacy in your personal Garden of Eden. Enjoy majestic views of the ocean from the comfort of the pavilion or coolness of the pool. The surrounding wildlife is abundant and spectacular.

The space
Casa Jungua is a premier rental property with 10 acres of its own pristine rainforest. It is a private oasis that affords not only breathtaking views & soothing breezes, but an incredible abundance of diverse wildlife.

The house is sustainably built and maintained. Each system was carefully and artfully thought out keeping the vibrant health of the surrounding Eco-system in mind.

The house sleeps a maximum of 4 guests. There are 2 bedrooms. One with a queen bed, and the other bedroom with two bunk beds, which can be joined to create a king bed. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. We have fast internet.

The property caretakers, Jonathan and Ivis, will make sure that your needs are taken care of. In addition, Ivis is a fantastic chef and will cook for a fee (we do not allow hiring an external chef). This eliminates the stress of planning, cooking and cleaning up after meals, allowing you and our family and friends to have more time to either relax or explore.

The property overlooks 3 beautiful beaches with fantastic surf. You can check out the lineup at Backwash and Pan Dulce from the property!

Guest access
Our property is in the Jungle and the roads are not paved and some sections can be quite steep. So a 4x4 car with high clearance is essential. You can rent a car or you can use our service, for a fee, to pick you up from the airport and drive you around town.

Other things to note
Casa Jungua is for the nature enthusiast who wants to discover the worlds "untapped" places. You can also take surfing lessons, go on a guided nature hike, take a boat out on the gulf, climb strangler fig trees, or enjoy the King Louis waterfall. Alternatively, you can just sit back and take in the sounds and sights of the jungle while looking out onto the beautiful ocean.

Where you’ll be

Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica

Cabo Matapalo, known by the locals as simply Matapalo, is a small community located 17 km south on a bumpy dirt road from the town of Puerto Jimenez. The area consists of a scattering of eco-lodges and rental homes with one local bar. There are no banks or grocery stores, so make sure to stock up in Puerto Jimenez before heading out. Over the years, Matapalo has become a surf destination. It borders a beach along the Pacific Ocean that routinely ushers in large swells. There are several areas to surf. The waves vary in difficulty, allowing for beginner to expert surfing opportunity.

The abundant wildlife also makes this area popular amongst travelers. Four species of monkeys, scarlet macaws, toucans, sloths, agoutis, and coatimundis are just a small sample of the wildlife that one sees on a regular basis. The Audobon Society has named Cabo Matapalo one of the premiere bird watching venues in the world. Matapalo is where travelers go to be at one with nature and find ultimate relaxation.

The pristine rainforests and rugged natural beauty of the Osa Peninsula make this region one of the most beautiful areas in Costa Rica. Declared one of the most biologically intense places on Earth by National Geographic Magazine, the Osa Peninsula has become the premier eco-tourism destination in the country. The Osa Peninsula is a secluded nature wonderland, playing home to many of the country’s rare and endangered animal and bird species, including squirrel monkeys, jaguars, and other forest cats. With a large portion of the peninsula forming the Corcovado National Park, this area has the single largest expanse of lowland tropical rainforest in Central America and is one of the tallest rainforests in the world. The area hosts more than 375 bird species, a fourth of Costa Rica's tree species, and more than 4000-5000 vascular plant species, many of which are found nowhere else on earth. The rain forest is made up of 700 tree species, the greatest diversity of tree species in all of Central America.
