I have two bedrooms that can be rented out together or individually with a sitting room in between them for $50 a room. Each bedroom has a queen bed. (Note: The rave review of the bed by one guest applies to a mattress that is no longer here). The sitting room has a TV with a Roku player. The rooms are bright and sunny with a private entrance. There is lots of bamboo in the yard and outside the window of the rooms.
There is a private bathroom, although sometimes (not often) I have another guest who you might need to share it with. Please let me know if you don't want to share or maybe we can make a deal! There is an area with microwave, coffee maker and small refrigerator. You can see Mt. Shasta from the street and there are great views of the mountains nearby.
I live in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of downtown Mt. Shasta. There are trails nearby and easy access to the Everitt Memorial Highway where you can drive up to almost 8,000 feet on Mt. Shasta (summer) or ride your bike on the Gateway and Tunnels trails.
I will let you use my kitchen for light cooking if you are sure to clean up after yourself.
I have 2 bicycles and helmets that you can borrow for riding around town.
Come for the summer solstice, fall equinox, skiing, boarding, or for fun hiking the Pacific Crest Trail checking out the lakes, meadows and (website hidden). Shasta is a great place to visit.
I have wireless internet. I have a nice back yard a small lawn with a big oak tree. There is a big front lawn with oak trees and a few veggies too as well as a quiet back yard under another big oak tree with a small lawn.
I'm a good host, very friendly, and I can help you figure out things to do and places to go. I stay with airbnb hosts when I travel.
When you book the room, please be sure to read the directions to my house. If you use your GPS, you are likely to end up in the wrong place- many GPS units are not accurate here in Mt. Shasta. It's that Shasta Vortex thing...
Comfortable bed with a cozy comfortor and lots of pillows. The house is in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to the road leading to Mt. Shasta, the freeway, and downtown. Having a refrigerator and microwave at my disposal greatly reduced my eating expenses.
We had a wonderful time at the Bamboo House!
We had our own private entrance. The house & the bathroom were clean. The bed was comfortable to sleep on and the neighborhood was quiet.
Thanks to Tom's knowledge of the area, we didn't have any problems finding places to eat or explore the areas around Mount Shasta.
Definitely recommend others to try the Bamboo House.
Very clean, spacious, comfortable: Overall great! Tom was very friendly and accommodating, even last minute!
We had a very nice stay at Tom’s place. It’s really a quiet neighborhood. Tom is a great host and very helpful. He made his bicycles available to us, pumped up the tires and made sure that they were in good condition, so that we could even go up the steep way to Castle Lake. We really enjoyed our stay!
What a great stay! We arrived at Tom's just 2 hours after making our reservation. We really appreciated Tom accepting us in just a moment's notice and being SO accommodating! What a nice value!
Tom is a friendly host, and the accommodations are very nice. Comfortable bed.
The room was sweet, surrounded by bamboo. Tom was super friendly and gave us advice about what to eat and where to hike in the area. Wish we had an extra day or two to explore... maybe next time :)
This was a great place to stay in Shasta- a clean and private room and bathroom with a separate entrance in a quiet and safe neighborhood. Tom was able to give me some recommendations about hiking and eating in the area, but otherwise it was pretty private. I was later getting into town than I originally planned, and he was very accommodating to my arrival. Recommended!
Our stay was good value for money. We were over an hour late arriving as we underestimated how long the journey would take us and Tom was very understanding, helping us find out where we were going. He was welcoming, our room was clean and comfortable. He gave us advice about local places to visit, we would recommend staying with Tom.
Tom is an angel for travelers- we all need a safe, affordable place to stay on the journey, thank you so much for opening your home to us trail seekers!
