We are "Super Hosts" because we love hosting guests and provide them a cost effective opportunity to visit Florida's Treasure Coast. Our home is comfortable and well suited for guests. Come and make yourself at home in the Gateway to the Tropics!
Spectacular 3 Bedroom / 3 bath home is perfect for relaxing or entertaining! Our split-Plan, 3000sq' home provides plenty of privacy, creature comforts, and all the amenities to make your stay very enjoyable.
***Even though AirBNB list our home as having only one bedroom available we actually HAVE 2 BEDROOMS available (A Guest Suite with En-Suite /attached private bathroom, and a second guestroom with an adjacent bathroom (in addition to our master suite on the opposite side of our home).***
The property features open cathedral ceilings, plenty of windows, glass French doors and a 9' wide sliding glass pocket door that brings the tropical backyard pool deck seemingly right into the house!
The main/shared living area of the house has a large open kitchen, quiet front room off the entry courtyard, comfortable open great/media room off of the kitchen and dining area.
***TO AVOID ANY CONFUSION we do want to point out that we reside in this home full time, and will most likely be staying here and hosting you as are our guests. We like to clarify this right up front, as we have received several inquiries from guests who seemed to be unaware of this. We rent out the 2 guest bedrooms and bathrooms (on the opposite/separate side of our home from our Master suite and office) and we of course allow you full use of the house, kitchen, pool, yard etc..***
We are not a child-friendly residence. We have not child-proofed our home, and we have several items that may be attractive hazards for small children. Then there is the safety and liability issues (particularly with a swimming pool). Because of these issues we generally do not Host guests with children under 10 years of age in our home.
So much about Florida includes enjoying and celebrating the outdoors! To this end you will enjoy the privacy of a solar-heated tropical backyard rock pool, spa, and waterfall with substantial deck area. Sunbathing can be enjoyed while in the pool, on the deck or in one of four sun loungers. All of this is protected under a large screen pool enclosure, and we also have a sun deck on the east side of the house that is not covered by the screen enclosure.
The property backs up to an executive golf course. The backyard also features a covered lanai off of the kitchen with a ceiling fan, light, electrical outlets and WiFi. There are also views of a canal that connects to the Indian River Estuary/Lagoon. There is a gas BBQ grill, tables, chairs, sun loungers and pool floats.
There is wireless internet throughout the house and backyard, and cable TV in the great room and all bedrooms (Pay-per-view movies available at extra cost). All rooms have ceiling fans, and there is central air conditioning and heat throughout the home.
The larger guestroom (Lavender in pictures) has an adjustable Queen sized bed, a private "en-suite" bathroom with a very spacious roll-in shower, and large north facing window overlooking the pool and spa.
Our second guestroom (Tan in pictures) has a Queen sized bed with a west facing window, and uses the adjacent/shared hall bathroom with a combination tub and hand-held shower (this bathroom is not wheelchair accessible unless it can fit through a 27" wide door).
You will have free use of our home, kitchen, laundry, pool, yard, and amenities to enjoy as your own while you are our guests. One or two guests will have/share your own guest suite with a Queen size bed and private en suite bathroom. If you are a party of three or four you will have the use of both guestrooms on the opposite side of the house from our owner’s suite and office. (2 guests may occupy both the guest suite and guest bedroom [1 guest per bedroom] for additional $15 night charge, just register as a party of 3)
The entire house (other than 1 hall bathroom), as well as most of the yard and neighborhood is wheelchair accessible (no steps), including the docks (about 100 meters from the house). There is a sidewalk in front of the house that connects to the main sidewalk that runs the entire length of the city of Sebastian (about 7 miles). There is a Walgreen's drugstore only 1 block from the house, and a Publix grocery store across the street from it. There is a Subway sandwich shop there, small Italian and Chinese restaurants, liquor store, UPS store, hair cutter, nail salon, and boutique shop.
You are welcome to make yourself at home and use the well appointed kitchen as well as the laundry facilities.
If you care to fish or dive we may be able to connect you with a guide. You can bring your own canoe or kayak, or rent them or stand-up paddle boards in town.
The property is located about 2 miles south of Sebastian, and about 8 miles north of Vero Beach. Sebastian is a great fishing area. There is also freshwater fishing in lakes nearby, shallow water and flats fishing in the Indian River Estuary/Lagoon (less than 300 meters from the house), and offshore fishing. This is a very eco-friendly area and home to Pelican Island Sanctuary. There are hundreds of dolphins and manatees who call the estuary home. We seldom go out to any of the 6 waterfront restaurants or out on the "river" that we don't see dolphins. We have several festivals and fishing tournaments throughout the year here.
Vero Beach is just to the south, and features many fine arts and cultural offerings at the museum and performing arts theatre. There are several upscale dining and shopping opportunities in Vero Beach, and there are also several movie screens at two different locations.
If you are more active and/or adventurous you can rent surfboards, boogie boards, kayaks, paddle boards, boats and jet-skis in Sebastian to explore and play in/on the Indian River Estuary/Lagoon; take guided eco-tours on commercial pontoon boats; fishing or surfing at Wabasso Beach (4.5 miles) or Sebastian Inlet State Park (11.5 miles); diving; dozens of miles of hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trails; birding; or jump right out of the sky at Skydive Sebastian, one of the top skydiving destinations and training facilities in the world! (SkyDive Sebastian is, just 7.5 miles, 15 minutes away)
There are several waterfront restaurants in Sebastian. You might want to start the day at "Mulligan's" watching dolphins feeding as you enjoy breakfast from their rear deck overlooking the Indian River Estuary/Lagoon. Have lunch at "Squid Lips Over Water Grill" (the best conch chowder and bacon wrapped scallops), or drinks, dinner and dancing or listening to live music at "Captain Hiram's" outdoor sandbar or indoor dining (once again located right on the Indian River Estuary/Lagoon. Not enough to do yet? Try the "Tiki Bar & Grill" on Indian River Estuary/Lagoon and play "Corn-Hole" or sing karaoke, or visit "Outriggers", "Pelican Pub", "Mo Bay Grill" or the "World Famous Earl's" biker bar/tiki hut outdoor Sunday blues music. You can have pizza from a different shop every day of the week! If you want something different (and fried) take a 15 minute drive to old Florida and have sweet potato pancakes or frog legs, gator tail, catfish, fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, fried okra , fried oysters at "Marsh Landing" in Fellsmere.
If you crave fine dining, Vero Beach "Beachside" has all you could ask for , starting with the famous "Ocean Grill and historic "Waldo's" (I think their "Backyard Burger" is as good as any burger, anywhere, and you can order and eat it at a table just above the beach and poolside at the "Driftwood Inn". If you desire something more contemporary I highly recommend "Cobalt" or "Citrus" (both on the beach in Vero), or the "Tides", "Maison Martinique"...(are you hungry yet?)(URL HIDDEN)In case of emergency we have great police, sheriff, fire department and EMT services, along with two hospitals. Duke University has partnered with the Indian River Medical Center and has one of the premier heart centers in the nation!
If you are travelling through the state, Sebastian is located on the east [Treasure] coast 90 minutes to two hours south of Daytona Beach [north], Orlando [west], and Palm Beach [south]. Further south is Ft. Lauderdale (125 miles), Miami (150 miles), Florida Keys (200 miles) and Key West (300 miles).
We have been a property managers and owned many resort vacation properties over the years. We have lots of experience as a "concierge". This is our personal home we designed for entertaining friends and having company over for extended stays. "Our" side of the house is self-contained with its own door out to the lanai and pool, and private entrance through our home office off of the front courtyard. In other words, you can be a guest at my residence and almost never run into me (if that is your preference), or I can be as available as my schedule allows to answer questions or offer suggestions.
This is a non-smoking residence, please respect that.
Guests have access to the main house, kitchen, laundry facilities, Lanai, Pool, Spa, use of backyard and dock. Wi-Fi throughout house and Lanai/Pool area, cable TV in main room and guest bedrooms.
Interaction with guests
We are happy to act as a bit of a "concierge" and offer suggestions for your stay, or be as "absent" and invisible as you may prefer.
Other things to note
You are welcome to use our kitchen and pantry. We reserve a shelf for your use in both the refrigerator and pantry.
Check-in time is typically after 4PM, and we attempt to be accommodating to your needs whenever possible. We appreciate your check-out/departure by Noon so that we can clean and prepare for new guests arrival.
You are also welcome to enjoy complementary Coffee, Tea, Juice, Water, Milk and spices/condiments if you like to prepare a meal.
We also provide complimentary local Key Lime Pie on your arrival, and have various bread and bagels available if you like a quick breakfast snack.
Thank you for visiting Airbnb and considering staying with us. Susan and I would love to host you in our Sebastian home.
Arrival is afternoon/evening (AFTER 4 PM).
Departure is morning (BEFORE 12:00).
As a standard practice we like to confirm with potential guests that they are aware that Susan and I also reside here, and as our guests you will be sharing our split-plan home. You will have free use of our home, kitchen, laundry, pool, yard, and amenities to enjoy as your own while you are our guests.
Both this "Business Traveler" (our 2nd guestroom at the end of the hall) and our larger Guest Suite are located on the opposite side of the house from our Owner’s Suite and office.
Areas of clarification we like to make are:
1. We do on occasion Host or rent out the "Business Traveler" Guest Room and the Guest Suite to different parties simultaneously.
2. This is a spacious and comfortable split-plan home, and we have never had an issue with guests (or ourselves) feeling too underfoot or in the way.
3. The housekeeping is all completed before you arrive, and after that you are expected to clean up after yourself as you go. We do supply all linens, towels, soap, kitchen utensils, plates, glasses, etc.. This means your party makes your own beds (or not – only if you want them made), wash your own towels if/as needed, clean your own dishes (or place them in the dishwasher). On the day you leave don't worry about making the beds or washing linens, we will do that when we clean later that day.
4. We like to make Guests aware that our swimming pool and spa are solar heated, and therefore the temperature is somewhat dictated by the amount of sunshine received, and while the water temperature is warmer than the ocean in Southern California in the summertime, it may be cooler than we care to go in it at. (You may find it just fine)
5. Insurance/Liability – Airbnb provides excellent insurance coverage for both Guests and Hosts. Because of this we strictly follow their requirements (this restricts coverage to only Guests registered through Airbnb). Please respect and adhere to this stipulation, and do not bring additional guests to the property or to lounge by and use the pool (other than for a brief visit – NO UNREGISTERED OVERNIGHT GUESTS).
6. Travel/Vacation Insurance – No one wants to cut their travel plans short (or cancel them), and particularly if they end up paying for the vacation they didn’t get to use. In our considerable experience as Vacation Rental Hosts, we find that Vacation Insurance is a relatively inexpensive cost to protect your vacation/travel investment. We do not offer nor endorse any particular company or plan, but we do like to inform our potential guests that such coverage exists. If you have further interest contact your insurance provider or do an Internet search. (Travel agents and many Guests have reported good things about Allianz travel insurance)
7. This is a NO SMOKING property and we ask that you respect that. We take great pride in our properties and provide them to our Guests with the assurance that this is a smoke-free and pet-free property.
8. Please do not bring any pets (including service animals) onto or into this property.
9. Any additional cleaning, deodorizing or repairs due to violations of these policies will be reported to Airbnb and costs will be deducted from the Security Deposit.
10. Violations of any of these policies is grounds for IMMEDIATE EVICTION without any reimbursement, refund or compensation of expenses. (Fortunately that has never been necessary).
From Dec 22, 2017 - Apr 30, 2018 the minimum stay is 2 nights.

Among several other things, Dr. Keith is a semi-retired Professor of Human Communication; Building Contractor and Designer; Vacation Property manager & "Concierge"; and avid life-long Waterman, while Susan is simply amazing with both home and garden!
We enjoy travel, entertaining, meeting people, and because of this became involved with AIRBNB July 2012. It has been a wonderful experience. We have enjoyed the company and experience brought by every guest who has stayed at our home (many of which have already returned, and others plan to). You might begin your stay as a guest, but we shall part as friends!
We absolutely love Florida and the water! Dr. Keith grew up surfing, sailing and SCUBA diving in Southern California. He spent some time living in Hawai'i studying with Kahunas, and relocated to Florida for the weather, water, and lifestyle. When not home in FLA we travel "Down-Island" and visit a variety of dive destinations (sometimes via cruise ship). When at home in FL we spend a great deal of time outdoors and often on a boat. We enjoy food...dining-out or cooking at home with friends. Generally living an active and healthy lifestyle.
We enjoy a wide range of music, and often have something playing in the background.
Because we are outdoorsy, we are also a morning people, and generally back in bed by 10 or 11 (unless something interesting is going on). Part of the design of our Sebastian home allows people on different schedules to co-exist without adversely affecting one another. You have to put a real effort into having someone on the other side of the house hear you if the doors are closed.
In our Sebastian home we have 2 guest rooms, so we can have larger parties stay over, and in a pinch even include the sleeper sofa in the front room if needed (like during fishing tournaments or skydiving gatherings).
Airbnb has been a nice way to meet new people and share our love and knowledge of the area with people, while allowing them the opportunity to travel and visit this area at an affordable rate.
We can be as "invisible" or present as guests may like (schedules permitting). While we genuinely love people, we don't feel a full-time roommate would be a good fit for us, so Airbnb allows us to share our wonderful home occasionally, yet afford us our own privacy the remainder of the time.
You no doubt noticed our mention of wheelchair accessibility. Dr. Keith is in a wheelchair from an accident at the beach in 1983. Some of Dr. Keith's other activities include being a former college speech professor in CA and currently a FL building contractor. We also volunteer time to disabled SCUBA diving and boating programs.
If you have further questions please ask. We look forward to chatting with you!
