Orange line, Halsted Bus. No. 8 or Ashland bus No. 9
Booked a private room, though as the communication did warn me of the possibility, I was bumped to a fold-out sofa the day of (found out when I arrived). Iris was very nice and even picked me up from the orange line to bring me to the place I was staying - though it was a bit farther out than what showed on the map and what had been communicated.
The place was pretty dirty and I believe had too many people staying - 6 guests in what appeared to be a 2 BR/1 bath place.
I found other accommodations and left their place early. I no longer see the location I stayed at listed on this site, so perhaps it is being overhauled/cleaned up?
If you don't like my place on the first day, why don't you speak up and I will do my best for you.
I don't have any apartment with 2 bedrooms for 6 people. This is a make up accusation. Why do you lie? Do you want me to write something to lie about you?
The Halsted apartments are two 3 bedroom house with 2 baths. There are altogether 6 people using two baths. You are a liar.
In the Hillock house, there is 1.5 bath. There is a toilet in the lower level.
The place could be dirty. I might agree with you if the guests don't clean up after themselves. This is not a hotel, I don't have a cleaning lady to clean all houses everyday. I send my people to clean the house once a guest is gone.
Iris is a very attentive host. She makes an effort to place guests with similar backgrounds in the same apartment, and she visits the apartment every couple days. I stayed at the S. Halsted apartment. Very convenient location - right across from the Orange Line, large grocery store within walking distance, nearby park for running. Parking at the apartment was never a problem. Always felt safe. No central heat, but Iris provided an electric heater upon request. Thanks!
I rented this room for my Niece when she visit Chicago.
Iris was very helpfull and a great support.
Thank you for allow my niece to stay at your place.
Staying with Iris was a good experience. It was cheap, and we had access to a kitchen and a shared bathroom. Overall, the apartment is fine, but it is a bit far away from downtown Chicago. Our room was too small to comfortably fit two people in there, but we managed anyway. Pretty clean, and Iris is really nice :)
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I've had a nice stay with Iris. The area is convenient and safe with pharmacy, restaurants and shops nearby. However it depends on who you're staying with and whether if they keep the space clean and nice...it seems like the place is always fully booked. I've met with some really nice people here:)
Neighborhood was quite safe. 15-20 minute walk to red line. Apart from the fact that the room cannot be locked with keys from the outside to keep person belongings safe, everything was fine.
I have stayed at Iris's house on two or three occasions, with another stay to commence in about a week. Never a problem.
I was very pleased with the room during my time in Chicago. Linda is a great host. She offered to pick me up from McCormick Place after I arrived and made sure I got my key deposit back even though she left town before I did. I had a private room on Emerald Ave, which was about a 30 minute trip from downtown. The distance was just long enough to make it inconvenient to swing back to my room during the day, but what I sacrificed in convenience I made up in cost and having a great host. The house had a full kitchen, towels, and free WiFi. I really enjoyed my stay and recommend this place for your next visit to Chicago!
