Welcome To My Home!
Wow! Can you believe it? That beach you see in the picture above is just 150 metres from my home.
That’s right. It’s not a postcard or a stock image from some tropical island. That’s my beach! And if you stay at my place, it can be your beach – at least for the duration of your stay.
I live in a beautiful, contemporary home in the seaside suburb of Clifton Beach, Cairns. My street is very quiet, and just minute’s stroll from Clifton Beach (yep, the same one in the photo). It’s a very secure, prestigious neighborhood.
And it’s all just 40 minutes drive to Port Douglas and 30 minutes to Kuranda Village.
The lifestyle here is tranquil, relaxed and rejuvenating, it will nourish your soul. Experience it for yourself.
If you choose to stay with me, included in your accommodation is a large private room, queen bed, spacious bathroom, bath and separate toilet.
Facilities include high-speed wireless ADSL 2 throughout the home, along with a BOSE 5.1 home theatre system with 50 inch wide screen television. You can download any movie on iTunes through Apple TV if you feel like staying in for a night.
I am more than happy to provide airport transfers where I can free of charge. I am also happy to give you information on how to get the most out of exploring the region from a local perspective, so you can avoid tourist traps and take advantage of our local “secrets”.
My office is located at the Shangri-La Hotel at the Cairns Marina in the city. My Airbnb guests have full use of the 5 star pool at the hotel with cocktail waiters and food menu on call. See photos.
Things To Do And See…Just A Walk Away.
About 25 minutes to the North is Palm Cove, one of the most beautiful suburbs of Cairns. There are more than 20 restaurants along the paved street across from palm trees lining the beach’s edge. Eateries range from a choice of five-star gourmet experiences to take away fish and chips.
The new, modern Clifton Village Shopping Centre with Coles Supermarket, Australia Post, Banks, Medical Centre, Pharmacy and other specialty stores is even closer (see photo).
Cairns Night Zoo is also just a walk away. It’s a world-class attraction featuring Australian native animals, including crocodiles, kangaroos, koalas, snakes and other animals. See website for more details.
Port Douglas (see photo) is 40 minutes drive north along one of Australia’s most famous drives (see photo). The road winds along the coastline with magnificent, breathtaking views of the Coral Ocean along the way.
Pristine Cape Tribulation is 120 minutes away to the north. Here, the Daintree Rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef. This is the only place in the world where two world heritage sites come together. There are numerous free rainforest walks in Cape Tribulation.
Kuranda Village and Barron Falls (see photo) are just 30 minutes drive to the west of Clifton Beach. Kuranda is a boutique village with genuine Australian arts and crafts, cafes and restaurants, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in the region.
There are many other attractions within just a few minutes drive. These include AJ Hackett Bungy Jumping, Trinity Beach restaurants, Skyrail, Tjapukai Aboriginal Centre, Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures, Rex Lookout, James Cook University (JCU), Lake Placid, Copperlode Dam and Barron Gorge, just to name a few.
Sunbus (public transport) into the city can be caught along the Arlington Esplanade, which is a few minutes walk from home.
Clifton Beach has BBQ’s, children’s playground and lifeguard beach petrol on duty.
There are cycle paths between the beach suburbs and a major shopping complex just 10 minutes drive away.
Come and enjoy one of the most beautiful places on our planet.
My aim is to bring happiness to my guests by providing a home away from home experience.
Warmest wishes and safe travels.
Time pending my friend Julie can take you on private, personalised day tour to Cape Tribulation/Daintree, Milla Milla Water Fall Circuit, Tablelands, Kuranda and many other areas for a reasonable fee.
Typically I try to do without rules as the most important outcome for me is that my guests have the best possible experience while they stay with me with effortless ease, comfort and fun.
With this in mind I kindly ask my guests be considerate, respectful, clean and tidy while they enjoy staying with me.
If you require something special like a favorite food, I am happy to buy it for you and have it ready when you arrive.
We had a fantastic stay at Sen's place. Sen is a remarkable host - he guided us very well. Sen suggested that we rent a car during our stay, which we did and saw more places in and around Cairns. It was raining when we were in Cairns and Sen's guidance on picking a suitable day for the Great Barrier Reef turned out to be very useful. Sen also got us a good discount with the Reef tour operator, "Passions of Paradise" and the tour was spectacular. Sen has a special visitor in his garden on certain days(almost daily? :)) - a cute wallaby, who keeps everyone entertained. I will recommend anyone visiting Cairns to stay with Sen.
I was with my girlfriend with him. He was a fantastic host. He picked us up from the airport and drop off.
He has organized for us, taking into account all the weather excursions. His neighborhood is just perfect. Very quiet location, the beach is about 3min away from his house. Supermarket, restaurants, post office, Tropical Zoo and much more is within walking distance. He has showed us during a road trip and gave us lots of information and insider tips.
We felt like we were at home. We are likely to share everything. The house was very clean, his photos that corresponded exactly what we found. We had a lot of fun together. For this reason alone, because our English is not so good. He was very patient with us. We enjoyed our time with him very much. We would have liked to have stayed longer. He was very friendly, courteous, attentive, self-sacrificing, cordial, helpful, personable, very communicative and totally uncomplicated. Simply the best host you can imagine. We would hesitate to book him again as host. We enjoyed our stay very much with him and keep him in our memory.
The pleasure was all mine Michaela. A heartfelt thank you and Irma for being such perfect, happy, easy-going guests and for this lovely review. I loved hosting you and assisting you with tour booking and the like as well as spending time with you, getting to know each other. Being a Airbnb host is so rewarding when I get to meet amazing guests like you two, who have such a positive outlook to make the most of any situation with permanent smiles on your faces. You are in my memory too and I hope to see you again one day in season this time. Wishing you grand, happy, adventure for the rest of your holiday. Keep in touch.
Thank you so much for this lovely review Antje. Likewise I felt you were a friend even before you arrived in Cairns and like you I am very grateful for the human experience that transpired, where we went from being strangers to friends in a short time.
I too enjoyed the conversations we shared along with the dining, watching movies and just hanging out. You are an incredibly open and easy person to spend time with and I am glad our paths crossed.
Wishing you many good things settling into work back in Germany and do keep in touch as it will be great to see you and experience your positive, gentle manner again.
It was a beautiful experience to live in Sens house. Its a sweet home out of home.
Though we could not meet Sen, he ensured that the place was ready for us and constantly followed up with me to check whether everthing was OK. He also gave us contact points in case we needed any assistance which was great.
We also met Diane his friend who was such a sweet heart. She had dropped by to ensure that the place was ready for the next guests which i found really impressive on Sens part, that he made sure everything is OK for his guests even in his absence.
We thoroughly enjoyed each and every moment spent here and did a lot of activities around cairns. There is also a Wallaby staying at his property and we kept spotting it now and then.
All in all, highly recommend place and host.
You are too good Sen
My sentiments exactly Roshan. I wish I got the chance to meet you and wife too. Typically I spend a lot of time with my guests showing them around and taking care of them as much as I can. So you guys will just have to come back.
I must thank you so much for being such easy going, relaxed and wonderful guests in my absence. I could not have asked for anything more from a guest than to be self-reliant and care free as you were while I was away. Bravo!
Keep in touch and I hope to meet you somewhere, someday. You never know what is possible.
Sen was an amazing host! Not only did he offer wonderful advice for day trips, great restaurants, and things to see and do, he joined us for wine, dinner, and gave me chocolates for my birthday! His home is convenient, the room is comfortable, and the entire house is spotless and hip. Sen made us feel very welcome and at home. Thank you for making our Queensland experience so memorable!
You're so welcome Jennie/Sam. I loved meeting you guys and it was my pleasure to have been your host in Cairns. I will always remember your animated excitement in story telling after each of your trips to the Tablelands and our Great Barrier Reef.
One of the reasons I became a host on Airbnb is to meet people like you because I love to share my home and surrounding areas with my guests where my goal is to enhance the guest experience as much as possible.
By the way I LOVE your home town of San Francisco! It's one of the coolest and hipster cities I have ever been to and look forward to visiting it again sometime in the future.
So do keep in touch and enjoy the rest of your vacation seeing wonderful Australia.
Communication from Sen was fantastic. Although Sen was in transit himself, he went out of his way to ensure I not only knew how to get to his home, he also provided information on the best transfer options.
His warm welcome on the phone was second only to that when he arrived the following day from his own travels.
As a host, Sen provides you with the privacy and freedom to do your own thing, or accept his warm hospitality and travel guide expertise. You can tell he loves entertaining and opening his home and sharing the beauty of Cairns Northern Beaches. I thoroughly recommend Sen and know others staying there will be more than pleased.
Accommodation wise, as displayed, photos quite accurate, the only thing missing was the young wallaby who has taken residence in Sens backyard. Kitchen is great and the outdoor entertaining area perfect in the tropics.
Thanks Sen for opening your home so warmly. Looking forward to staying next time am in Cairns.
Debra, you felt to me like a long lost friend and I loved the time we shared together, the laughs, the conversation and especially for sharing your breaking news with me. I wish you so many good things. For eternity.
It also occurred to me that we dined out every night you stayed with me, so thank you so much for being a part of my life for the time you were with me and for taking such a genuine interest in my other guests. They loved meeting you.
You're a special woman, take good care of yourself, stay in touch and let's catch up again when in Cairns again for more Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc and shared moments.
And as for the Wallaby, I think of you every time I see her in my back garden.
Sen was a wonderful host. He was proactive in contacting me prior to my trip which made me feel welcome. He also went out of his way to address my needs and issues upon my arrival even though he was away on business. I regret not meeting Sen in person as he seems like a genuinely caring individual.
Thank you very much Jon, I am very glad that you settled in towards the end of your stay in Cairns. Typically I love spending time with my Airbnb guests and I make a point of allocating time to do this. It was a shame I was away from Cairns while you were my guest and we did not get the opportunity to meet face to face.
I strive to provide the best possible experience for my guests even when I am not here, so thank you for acknowledging that in your review. Very gracious of you.
I have also taken on board your feedback and I appreciate your comments. Take good care and enjoy your travels Jon.

Hello, bonjour, hola, ciao, hallo, aloha...
I was born a traveler. From a young age, I’ve been lucky enough to live in a number of locations around the world. This has allowed me to meet people of many cultures and backgrounds. It’s an experience I cherish and it has largely formed my own love of travel and passion for building relationships with like-minded travelers.
My most treasured memories of travel are often measured by the positive experiences gained through contact with others. This is something I like to reciprocate to my guests here in Cairns, by being the best host I can through providing guidance and support to my guest where needed.
Airbnb is a fabulous way to accomplish this goal.
I am the co-founder of an advertising agency based out of Cairns. I often travel to Sydney, Melbourne and even overseas on occasions. My business partner and good friend Roberto is in one of my profile photos.
I enjoy open discussions over a meal, visiting nearby attractions with my guests, cooking, driving my cars, science (especially astronomy!) and, most of all, meeting people and making new friends. A photo with a group of my close friends is in my profile photos.
Travel safely and enjoy the wonder of Australia.
