About this listing
Welcome To My Home!
Wow! Can you believe it? That beach you see in the picture above is just 200m metres from my home.
That’s right. It’s not a postcard or a stock image from some tropical island. That’s my beach! And if you stay at my place, it can be your beach – at least for the duration of your stay.
I live in a beautiful, contemporary home in the seaside suburb of Clifton Beach in Cairns. My street is very quiet, and just minute’s stroll from Clifton Beach (yep, the same one in the photo). It’s a very secure, prestigious and sort after neighborhood.
And it’s all just 40 minutes drive to Port Douglas and 30 minutes to Kuranda Village. Most of the main attractions are closer to my home than the city and tour operators will provide transfers to all of those attractions including the Great Barrier Reef.
The airport is 20 minutes drive to the South while the city centre is 30 minutes in the same direction in peak traffic. No matter where you stay in Cairns, I recommend a rental vehicle as driving here is easy and it will provide you with the freedom to explore the region in your own time.
The lifestyle here is relaxing and tranquil surrounded by nature and natural attractions in all directions.
If you choose to stay with me, included in your accommodation is a comfortable private room, quality queen bed, spacious bathroom, bath and separate toilet. I have 2 rooms listed on Airbnb.
Facilities include high-speed wireless ADSL 2 throughout the home, along with a BOSE 5.1 home theatre system with 70 inch wide screen television. You can download any movie on iTunes through Apple TV if you feel like staying in for a night.
I am also happy to give you information on how to get the most out of exploring the region from a local perspective, so you can avoid tourist traps and take advantage of our local “secrets”.
Things To Do And See…Just A Walk Away.
About 20 minutes walk to the North is Palm Cove, one of the most beautiful suburbs of Cairns. There are more than 20 restaurants/cafes along the paved street across from palm trees lining the beach’s edge. Eateries range from a choice of five-star gourmet experiences to take away fish and chips.
The new, modern Clifton Village Shopping Centre with Coles Supermarket, Australia Post, Banks, Medical Centre, Pharmacy and other specialty stores is a 10 minute walk. My favorite Thai restaurant is also here along with a pizzeria and excellent fish and chip outlet.
Cairns Night Zoo is also just a walk away too, about 15 minutes. It’s a world-class attraction featuring Australian native animals, including crocodiles, kangaroos, koalas, snakes and other animals. See website for more details.
Port Douglas (see photo) is 40 minutes drive north along one of Australia’s most famous drives (see photo). The road winds along the coastline with magnificent, breathtaking views of the Coral Ocean along the way. Mossman Gouge which is 20 minutes north of Port Douglas is one of my personal favorite places to visit.
Pristine Cape Tribulation is 120 minutes away to the north. This is where the Daintree Rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef. The only place in the world where two world heritage sites come together. There are numerous free rainforest walks in Cape Tribulation.
Kuranda Village and Barron Falls (see photo) are just 30 minutes drive to the west of Clifton Beach. Kuranda is a boutique village with genuine Australian arts and crafts, cafes and tourists attractions, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in the region.
There are many other attractions within just a few minutes drive. These include the very popular Skyrail, AJ Hackett Bungy Jumping, Trinity Beach restaurants, Tjapukai Aboriginal Centre, Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures, Rex Lookout, James Cook University (JCU), Lake Placid, Copperlode Dam and Barron Gorge, just to name a few. I have often taken my guests to many of these places.
I own an ad agency and my office is located at the Shangri-La Hotel at the Cairns Marina in the city. My Airbnb guests have full use of the 5 star pool at the hotel with cocktail waiters and food menu on call. See photos.
Sunbus (public transport) into the city can be taken along the Arlington Esplanade along the beach, which is a few minutes walk from home.
Clifton Beach has BBQ’s, children’s playground and lifeguard beach petrol on duty.
There are cycle paths between Clifton Beach and all other beach suburbs and the rental company will drop off and pick up bikes from my home.
Come and enjoy one of the most naturally beautiful places any where in the world.
My aim is to providing a sense of belonging with a home away from home experience for my guests and I strive to ensure your holiday runs as smooth as possible in every way.
Warmest wishes and safe travels.
Time pending my friend Julie can take you on private, personalised day tour to Cape Tribulation/Daintree, Milla Milla Water Fall Circuit, Tablelands, Kuranda and many other areas for a reasonable fee.
Typically I try to be as flexible as possible because the most important outcome for me is that my guests have the best possible experience while they stay in my home.
So with this in mind I kindly ask my guests to exercise common sense, be considerate, respectful, clean and tidy while they're staying with me.
Sen was very welcoming and we very much enjoyed staying in Clifton Beach. It was nice to stay somewhere that allowed you to relax and feel at home! We really enjoyed the movie night! Sen, thank you for sharing your home with us.
Sen is a great host and we had a fantastic time at Clifton Beach. On our arrival day Sen had organised BBQ for other guests and us, a great welcome for us and so good to start our few day.s there. The house is all as described and Sen is dedicated host always making you feel comfortable. Good run on beach in the morning. Next time in the area I will come back .
It was a pleasure to host you and Max and both of you are fabulous guests all around. Time permitting I often try and cook up a traditional Australian BBQ for my guests as part of the local experience.
It was great to dine out with you and Max too and I enjoyed the time spent getting to know each other.
Many of my guests love having the beach at the doorstep with plenty of sunshine and warmth to go with it. I am glad you had such a lovely time staying with me and I hope to see you again sometime, somewhere.
Sen is a real wonderful host and my daughter Lena and I spent a week in his beautiful home that offers every luxury. He even enabled us to stay for two days longer than originally booked and we enjoyed every minute of our time there. Not only that the house is located in a real nice and cultivated neighbourhood, it is also only a few steps from the beach and a short walk from a Shopping Center. Sen also took us to dinner and drove us around in his car, showed us nice places and lookouts and even booked several tours for us. We spent a wonderful day on a Catamaran at the Great Barrier Reef and a private tour to the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation with his friend Julie, who is also an airbnb host, a great tour guide and a very lovely person! I can fully recommend Sen without any restrictions, he really did his best to make our stay unforgettable and airbnb is very lucky in my opinion to have him on board as a host.
Hosting you and Lena was truly a wonderful experience for me and as a host I enjoyed every moment spent with you too. Thank you for entrusting me with your precious holiday time and I am thrilled to know you had such a great time staying at my home. Making sure my guests are in good hands is something I strive to do all of the time. So having such perfect guests as you and Lena makes my job a breeze.
Sharing my neighborhood local secrets with my guests is another activity that I get a lot of joy from. Not to mention there are so many free activities around my home that you will not see in any travel brochure. As you mentioned Julie is an awesome tour guide as a number of my guests have already found out. She often takes my guests to locals only places near Cape Tribulation that tourists will never see.
Eva, I am very keen to take you up on your offer to come and visit you in Germany just in time for Oktoberfest. Unlikely in 2015 but looking good for 2016. So please do keep in touch and I hope to see you again. This time for the Chicken Dance at Oktoberfest!
Sen was an exceptional host, pretty much the best person we could have picked for our first-ever (but certainly not last!) Airbnb experience. He communicated very well and was a great help before, during, and after our visit. His house was awesome, our room was clean, and we truly felt like locals in our own home.
He drove us around for a brief tour of the area and shared so many helpful tips upon our arrival in Australia; we loved the off-the-tourist-track sites and cafes he recommended. Sen also went above and beyond, offering me a ride to the airport to sort out a rental car issue one morning. I can't imagine many Airbnb hosts are better than Sen and there's clearly a reason he's a Superhost. I'd absolutely recommend his place for your next stay near Cairns!
Many thanks for choosing me as your first Airbnb host Steve, you and Gina make awesome all round Airbnb guests and I loved hosting you. I am pleased to know that you had such a great time at my home and to that end sharing local knowledge, tips on what to do and see in the surrounding area is something that I really enjoy doing.
Make the most of your grand adventure and I am curious to see your photos taken at Bora Bora via your blog.
I hope to see you again one day in Ohio, for that Piper Cub ride low and slow on a warm sunny day!
Sen has been incredible taking care of us and provided us with maximum comfort in his house. He has been quite attentive making sure we had the best experience in Cairns. He even gave me chocolate and card for my birthday which was very nice of him. We had good chats about all different topics and he shared his passion of astronomy with me. I also saw the wallaby one morning that was a surprise. Overall highly recommend!
Hey Jo, it was really wonderful to meet you and your mum and thank you for choosing me as your first Airbnb host. Both of you are perfectly suited to the Airbnb ethos and will make great community members.
Thank you so much for being so kind and considerate, not only did you feed me one night but every night asked me if I have had dinner. I enjoyed our chats and wishing you much success with your study and career.
And keep celebrating your Birthday all year. Happy Birthday!
Sen was an excellent host, very accommodating and went out of his way to make my trip fabulous
Great to meet you Daniel and it was my pleasure to assist you with transport and trip planning. I trust you got to do most of the things you wanted to do in the short time you had in Cairns despite the weather.
We had an unusual amount of rain in June. In fact it was the wettest June in 72 years with some rain almost everyday.
That said you're bound to have plenty of sunshine on your next trip to Cairns later in the year. Thanks for the laughs and keep in touch.
Sen and his friend Julie were very friendly and accommodating. They both offered us advice on the local area and available trips. Sen collected us from the airport and gave us a tour of the local area.
The house is located close to the beach. Hiring a car is advisable to allow you to explore and visit the nearby palm cove.
Happy to have been of service Mark. Julie spent over 10 years in tourism here in Cairns and she has great insights into almost all major attractions surrounding Cairns.
Yes, I do recommend hiring a rental vehicle to my guest regardless of where you stay in Cairns as driving around is really easy here. And there's so much more to see than just the major attractions.
That said Palm Cove is a 20 minute walk along the beach and a car is not required to get there. Happy onward travels.

About the Host, Sen
Hello, bonjour, hola, ciao, hallo, aloha...
I was born a traveler. From a young age, I’ve been lucky enough to live in a number of locations around the world. This has allowed me to meet people of many cultures and backgrounds. It’s an experience I cherish and it has largely formed my own love of travel and passion for building relationships with like-minded travelers.
My most treasured memories of travel are often measured by the positive experiences gained through contact with others. This is something I like to reciprocate to my guests here in Cairns, by being the best host I can through providing guidance and support to my guest where needed.
Airbnb is a fabulous way to accomplish this goal.
I am the co-founder of an advertising agency based out of Cairns. I often travel to Sydney, Melbourne and even overseas on occasions. My business partner and good friend Roberto is in one of my profile photos.
I enjoy open discussions over a meal, visiting nearby attractions with my guests, cooking, driving my cars, science (especially astronomy!) and, most of all, meeting people and making new friends. A photo with a group of my close friends is in my profile photos.
Travel safely and enjoy the wonder of Australia.
