A great value 2 bedroom self-contained apartment, conveniently located with wonderful views and a friendly ambience!
The north of Saint Lucia is very busy with lots to do daytime and night. But we still have the wonderful wild Atlantic coastline within walking distance and the apartment is surrounded by tropical plants and fruit trees.
The apartment is part of La Panache holiday apartments and has 2 small bedrooms, each with a standard double bed, one small bathroom, and a single bed in the living area, with a large balcony overlooking Rodney Bay and Pigeon Island in the Gros Islet area of Saint Lucia. Renovated in 2014, this apartment offers great value. Suitable for 4 persons, couples often enjoy the extra space. The apartment is comfortable and clean and has a fridge, cooking facilities, toaster, microwave, kettle, cable TV, free wireless internet, insect screen and powerful fans. The site is steep with quite a few steps and surrounded by nature. The high balcony be unsuitable for some children.
We also have 2 studio apartments also under the title La Panache and a holiday apartment near Soufriere, under the title Laniappe.
We are 20 minutes drive from Castries and 90 minutes from Hewanorra airport.
The owner Roger live in the same 4 apartment house so you will always be secure and able to ask question. He is a botanical expert so you can get plenty of advice, especially nature/hiking stuff. And Melvin and Nyalie who work and often spend nights here have great local knowledge as well. And everyone is friendly!
Interaction with Guests
If guests approach us we are always willing to talk to and help them and there is always someone on site. Some guests like more privacy and we respect that too. The apartment has a private entrance.
We have a great location, close to everything but away from the hustle and bustle of the highway. We are part of the Cas en Bas Road community which is a mix of locals, tourists and residents with holiday homes.
We are a 5 minute (400 meter walk) down to the Castries highway and frequent buses to Rodney Bay and Castries. There’s a small supermarket and a bank at the junction and 2 larger supermarkets on the way to Rodney Bay. There are all styles of eating, drinking and party establishments in Gros Islet and Rodney Bay.
Gros Islet Beach is a 20 minutes walk, Reduit Beach a short bus ride and the Atlantic beaches a 30 minutes walk. Beausejour Cricket Ground is 2 km away, Rodney Bay Marina a 15 minutes walk.

Our holiday apartments have always been safe and secure. We ask that guests do not bring visitors to their apartments.
Please also remember that contrary to popular belief marijuana is an illegal drug in Saint Lucia and people selling it are associated with drugs gangs so please do not bring these people onto our property.
My girlfriend and I had a great stay at Roger's. The apartment was spacious, clean, and well looked-after. It never got too warm for comfort. We were without a car during our stay but were able to get around using the very frequent little buses that we would catch about a 5 minute's walk downhill from the house. The location is an easy walk into Gros Islet village and an easy ride into Rodney Bay with it's substantial selection of shopping, restaurants, and grocery stores. Reduit Beach is right there too. Pigeon Island Park is very close by and well-worth a visit and has its own beach that is cordoned off from the rest of the beach. We did a lot of cooking, having a kitchen was great! I think the bathroom has been remodeled since the pictures that I saw were taken; it's very nice. One of the beds was too short for me at over six feet tall but luckily the other bed was not. The climb up the hill and stairs was a bit tiring at times but nothing too hard and you are rewarded for it with fantastic views of the surroundings hills and bay. We spent many evenings watching beautiful sunsets from the balcony. My girlfriend became a bit obsessed with taking pictures of hummingbird visitors to the property. Roger was always easy to reach and very helpful with recommendations about what to do. I'm very pleased we stayed here, we both had a lovely time!
We had a lovely stay at the La Panache apartment.
The space was perfect for our little family (couple + 5 MO baby), though the balcony might have been à little dangerous if hé had been crawling. We had everything for our cooking needs and certainly enjoyed many meals on the patio, with the stunning view!
Everybody was kind and helpful. Melvin even gave us some explanation on the plants around the house. Communication with Roger prior to the trip was quick and efficient.
We look foward to staying again with them in the South apartment in a couple of days.
I stayed at Lapanache for a month for a mixture of holiday and work-related activities. The place is a perfect home away from home and provides everything you need to enjoy your stay in St. Lucia - also if you feel like staying in and just relaxing with a book on your balcony. The apartment is very private and safe. It is conveniently located - the bank, the supermarket, the Rodney Bay Marina, and bars and eateries in Gros Islet are all within walking distance and you can also take a walk to Cas en Bas beach and Pigeon Island. Buses to Castries are very frequent and you can easily reach most points of interest by bus. There are a few mango trees around the guesthouse so you might be lucky to pick up some fresh fruit.
Roger and Henry are wonderfully nice and very helpful with suggestions regarding how to plan your trips and how to reach different places. They also immediately responded to any requests or minor issues I had.
Perhaps one thing you need to be aware of is that you do need to climb a few steps to get to your apartment. You don't need to be extremely fit to do that (I am not), but you do need to be prepared for a little activity. I must say though, that the view from your balcony is absolutely worth it!
I would recommend this place to my friends and I would stay at Lapanache again any time!

I was born in the UK and studied Natural sciences at Cambridge before spending twenty years teaching in Papua New Guinea, Bermuda and Venezuela and roaming the world! I finally settled in Saint Lucia and have kept myself very busy with conservation and ecology and specialize in studying the flora.
I have found over 300 species not known to be here including 10 this year which shows how biodiverse the flora is in this tiny but very mountainous island - now over 1300 species of flowering plants.
I have a studio and 2 bedroom apartment renting as holiday lets so if you like natury sorts of places to stay we might be the place in the north of Saint Lucia!
