We are a short walk to The Great Tythe Barn, Tetbury and a short drive to Chavenage House, Westonbirt, Calcot Manor, The Matara Centre and Kingscote Barn (minimum stay is 2 nights). Turnpike Cottage is also perfect as an extended holiday base for guests who wish to tour The Cotswolds and the surrounding areas (e.g. Bath, Bristol and The Forest of Dean).

There is a No Smoking and No Pets Policy in place at Turnpike Cottage, thank you.

We can interact with guests as much or as little as you like. We live just up the road from the cottage and have lived in Tetbury for over 20 years so we are more than happy to help with local knowledge. However we do have guests who prefer their privacy and the cottage is perfectly setup for this having its own entrance and driveway and being detached.

Tetbury is a beautiful Cotswold town, it has many boutique shops and cosy Cotswold Pub. It also has award-winning restaurants and is a beautiful town to stroll around and enjoy the Cotswolds country atmosphere.
Tetbury is world-renowned for its unique Royal associations. Highgrove, home of HRH The Prince of Wales is situated just outside Tetbury, and Gatcombe Park, home of the Princess Royal is also nearby. Neighbouring Chalford houses the impressive Nether Lypiatt House, until recently the residence of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.
You may spot a number of celebrities in Tetbury as they live in the village or very close by in neighbouring villages. The royal family are often cited at the village as our Liz Hurley, Kate Winslet, Kate moss, Damien Hirst and of course the Royal family.

There are regular buses and trains which run through Tetbury and Tetbury can be easily reached from London if you're arriving from overseas.

We want you to make the most of your stay. Here are some ideas of things we think you may enjoy. Please ask at reception for more details.

Turnpike Cottage is fabulous - cosy and warm, with absolutely everything you could possibly need to make your stay wonderful. We were pleasantly surprised by how lovely it was - the location, the decor, the rooms, it was all splendid. Our host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, leaving us bread and wine and much more than the bare necessities to get us started. The kitchen and bathroom are fully equipped. Everything was absolutely first class and we can't recommend it highly enough, looking foward to returning soon.

This is a lovely cottage, charmingly decorated and equipped with everything you are likely to need in a home away from home. Elizabeth is a thoughtful hostess and will ensure that your planning and arrival are easy, and your stay is a pleasure. For us it was an ideal location for attending a wedding at The Great Tythe Barn, just a short walk away. We would have no hesitation in returning to Turnpike Cottage and would look forward to spending more time in a beautiful part of the world.

Turnpike Cottage was perfectly located within an easy walking distance into town and to the wedding we were attending at the Great Tythe Barn. The Cottage was well kitted out with everything you need and had a great patio area to catch the afternoon sun and enjoy a glass of wine. Lyra was great to communicate with and all the instructions were straight forward. We also arrived to some lovely treats to get our stay started (thank you). From the Cottage there is also a great walking or running track that takes you into the country side and in town there were great options for food. If you're into Antiques there are some awesome treasure troves to get lost in too. We made an easy day trip to near by Stone Henge and Bath making this Cottage a great base to plan excursions from. Thanks for having us stay, for anyone else you won't regret a stay at this historical and very comfortable Turnpike Cottage.
