About this listing
This incredibly spacious and peaceful apartment is just a minute off of the Philosopher's Path. Its large terrace overlooks the whole city, and the space includes 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and plenty of space to fit a large family.
Terrazza House is really spacious for a Japanese apartment. It's located on the top floor of an apartment building with a private entrance in the back of the building (there is one flight of stairs to reach the front door).
Once you pass through the entry hallway, the space opens up into a large living room/dining room area filled with light. We even have a piano!
On the left is the guest bathroom and the kitchen (with access to the mudroom for the washer and dryer). To the right of the living room area is a hallway leading to the two western bedrooms (each with a double bed), and the master bathroom that connects to both of these bedrooms. Separately on the right is the Japanese style tatami room, which has two Japanese futons.
Each room in the house has heated flooring as well as a heating/airconditioning system.
The kitchen is well-equipped with a coffee maker, stovetop, dishwasher, rice cooker, tea kettle, and some basic kitchen staples.
The house also has a spacious balcony with beautiful views of the city.
When you rent Terrazza House, the entire apartment is yours. You will be able to live as if you are spending time in your very own modern Japanese home.
Interaction with guests
At the beginning and the end of your stay, one of our Travel Angels will be there to greet you. When you arrive, we like to be waiting for you at the house so that we can show you around, explaining everything, and also so that we can help you get oriented around the city. We'll provide you with maps of the city and the bus, and we can mark local shops and restaurants, as well as answer any questions you may have.
The apartment is situated right on the Philosopher's Path! If you're an early riser, this is the perfect place to take a morning walk and experience the silence and serenity of having this beautiful area all to yourself.
You will also be right across the street from Honen-in, a truly beautiful Buddhist temple.
There is a large bus stop about a 10 minute walk from the house, which provides access to Kyoto Station, the downtown area, Gion, and even Arashiyama and the Golden Pavilion.
Taxis are also very easy to find on the street just off of the Philosopher's Path.
Other things to note
The space in front of the house has a parking spot that you may use. Please just let us know beforehand if you plan on using it.
We ask that you be respectful of your downstairs neighbors, which means keeping noise at a minimum during the early morning and late evening.
It's also important that you respect the city garbage rules that we will explain to you, so that we can help keep Kyoto and the house neat and clean.
Please note that this is a strictly non-smoking house.
Hi! I have lived in Kyoto since 2010, and before that I was a student here too. I love everything about Kyoto, from the history to the surrounding nature, the great food and kind locals. I originally moved here as an English teacher, but now I work for the Kyoto team of a travel company that focuses on all aspects of travel in Japan, including rental houses.
Originally founded in Paris in the early 1980s, today we have expanded internationally to offer customers worldwide all the necessities for the perfect vacation in Japan.
We're especially proud of our rental houses in Kyoto (as well as in Tokyo and Kanazawa). We offer houses in beautiful residential areas of Kyoto, including the neighborhoods surrounding Gion, Yoshida Shrine, the Philosopher's Path, and the Kyoto University/Demachiyanagi area. Our houses range in size and style, from the most traditional of machiya to houses that focus more on western comforts.
When you stay with us, you're met at the house by one of our Travel Angels, multilingual locals who will introduce the intricacies of your Japanese house and the details of daily life, as well as provide advice on getting around Kyoto during your time here. They'll be in touch with you to organize your arrival, and you can ask as many questions as you need about the house or your travels.
We hope to see you in Kyoto soon!
