Comfortable, stylish home above Barton Springs, a 15-minute walk down the hill to the ACL festival and a 5-minute drive to downtown for SXSW. A retreat to relax and refresh, close to everything.
We are offering our very cute, bright 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home to visitors lucky enough to be coming to Austin.
Maximum two single guests or one couple and one single because the house has one double bed and one twin in the office/guestroom. Each has its own bath. Very comfortable.
Built in 1952, our midcentury home, designed by a well-known local architect, A.D. Stenger, is a comfortable stylish retreat after a full day at the festival or running to events and parties for SXSW.
Three night minimum, $350 per night.
Amenities: Double bed in one bedroom with a twin bed in the other bedroom. Two bathrooms, one small ensuite with shower and the other across the hall from the second bedroom with a tub/shower. All original 1950s tile, clean and bright, new kitchen. This is our home so there's a full kitchen, washer dryer, flat panel TV, wireless throughout the house. Big front garden. In short, everything you need.
We require a $500 deposit that will be refunded to you on departure after we've verified that everything is in order. We ask that you make yourself at home, have fun but respect the house and the neighbors.
Parking in the driveway for three cars. Outdoor table seats four for breakfast. Will be happy to suggest places to eat and visit if this is your first trip to Austin. Also can provide counsel on navigating ACL and SXSW. We don't attend any longer, but we have for years.
We normally rent the entire house, but will consider renting the guestroom in the right circumstances.
Interaction with Guests
We will welcome you, show you around and be available by phone to answer any questions.
Barton Hills is an older Central Austin neighborhood above Zilker Park. Our house, and others around us, date to early 1950s and 60s. Safe, friendly, great pld Austin community.
You can walk to ACL. Drive downtown for SXSW and other events is about 5-7 minutes, depending on traffic. UT Campus is about 10 minutes. Formula 1 Track is 15-20 minute drive, outside of town.
Other Things to Note
We live with a small, non-shedding miniature dachshund. He will not be here during your stay (obviously), but thought you should know.
No smoking, no pets. No more than three people (one couple + single or two singles), please. Be respectful of our home, which we love. Be nice to the neighbors. Be gentle with our things and treat our home as your own -- which means settling in and feeling relaxed, comfortable and happy to be in Austin.
Sydney is a great host. The house was clean and welcoming when I arrived and small details were plentiful: extra soaps and shampoos if you happen to forget them and extra clean towels just in case. I would definitely stay here again.
Sydney’s home was perfect for ACL. The house has plenty of room for two couples, and she made us feel very welcomed. It is clean and comfortable, plus her house is about 1 mile away from the entrance of ACL. It only took us around 15 minutes to walk there. Walking saved us from parking and traffic. After the festival, we were exhausted, and the neighborhood is very calm and quiet, so we had plenty of rest for the next day! We would definitely recommend Sydney’s residence. Thank you!
We had a great weekend stay, house was very well furnished and beds were comfortable . Thank you Sydney for giving us a great house for ACL.
Sydney provided us with all the extras that we would not have expected. It was a fantastic experience!

Divide my time between Austin and southern France and love both. Austin is fun and filled with music, friends, whacky events (think Spam-a-Rama and Eeyore's birthday party) and surrounding rugged Hill Country. France is more gentle fun and filled with art and architecture, friends, theatre, music and amazing food and wine. Both the houses I rent are my homes and, so far, my Airbnb guests have been great!
