The Space

Our very cute, bright 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home is in the center of everything, up the hill a short walk away from ACL, 5 minutes from downtown (Second Street District, Sixth Street, Warehouse District), 5 minutes to some of the best music in a city famous for its music -- Saxon Pub, Continental Club, Broken Spoke, ACL Live, etc etc etc.

Our house was built in 1954 by the most well-known midcentury architect in Austin, A.D. Stenger. It is filled with light and surrounded by a wild garden that draws birds, butterflies, hummingbirds and armadillos (yes, armadillos). It's a great retreat, a place to grill a meal and chill between exploring all that Austin has to offer.

The house has two beds, a double bed in the master bedroom and a single bed in the guestroom/office. There is also a trundle bed that could accommodate a fourth person. Each has its own bath. Very comfortable.

Three night minimum, $350 per night.

Amenities: Double bed in one bedroom with a twin bed in the other bedroom. Two bathrooms, one small ensuite with shower and the other across the hall from the second bedroom with a tub/shower. All original 1950s tile, clean and bright. New kitchen with everything you need and a grill out the back door. Washer dryer, flat panel TV (but with Roku, not cable), wireless throughout the house. Big front garden.

We require a $500 deposit that will be refunded to you on departure after we've verified that everything is in order. We ask that you make yourself at home, have fun but respect the house and the neighbors who are our friends.

Parking in the driveway for three cars. Outdoor table seats four for breakfast. Will be happy to suggest places to eat and visit if this is your first trip to Austin. Also can provide counsel on navigating ACL and SXSW.

Guest Access

We normally rent the entire house, but will consider renting the guestroom in the right circumstances. Check out is 11 a.m. Check in is 2 p.m. although we try to be flexible with requests.

Interaction with Guests

We will welcome you if we're in the country, show you around and be available by phone to answer any questions. If not, we'll answer questions by email and phone and have someone meet you upon arrival.

The Neighborhood

Barton Hills is an older Central Austin neighborhood above Zilker Park. Our house, and others around us, date to early 1950s and 60s. Safe, friendly, great old Austin community.

Getting Around

You can walk to ACL. Drive downtown for SXSW and other events is about 5-7 minutes, depending on traffic. UT Campus is about 10 minutes. Formula 1 Track is 15-20 minute drive, outside of town.

Other Things to Note

We live with a small, non-shedding miniature dachshund. He will not be here during your stay (obviously), but thought you should know.
