We had a great time. The house is fantastic and the views of the surrounding fields lovely. Great location with only a few minutes walk to the nearest beach and close to Glandore Harbour and Roscarbery. We would definitely go back again.
We have spent a very good time for our Christmas holidays in your nice house which was very welcoming. The Christmas tree was a real treat and the countryside very beautiful especially Drombeg and the cove.
It was warm with a nice fire in the stove, perfect to spend time with the family.
We wish you a happy new year!
This is a beautifully designed house in a magical place - and proved a perfect base for exploring this unique part of West Cork. One of the best designed modern houses I have seen in Ireland, it was spacious, clean, and welcoming as well as elegant, and set discreetly in the local landscape in a lovely, private and very distinctive garden. Full of charm and character, it was a great base for my family and friends for a week's holiday, with easy access to Tralong Bay, Glandore and the Drum Beg circle which provides a focus to the whole area.
Paul was extremely helpful in advance and when we arrived, with directions and suggestions. It was a huge pleasure and privilege to be guests in this very special family house, and we would love to return another year, if it is available again.
The reservation was canceled 53 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Just go there and relax! The house is amazing, furnished with so much taste and love for detail. The pictures can't live up to the welcoming feeling you get there. The area is just beautiful, you'll need a car though to get there since it's quite remote. By car you can reach stunning beaches (Warren beach, Long Strand) and beautiful villages (Glandore, Union Hall, Roscarbery) in just 10 to 15 minutes. Just a short walk from the house is Tralong beach and in the other direction Drombeg Stone Circle.
There are so many things you can do in the area, we tried some surfing, walked up Galley Head to see some stunning cliffs but the house is just perfect to relax, take a time out and watch some cows from the terrace!
Paul was a perfect host and gave us lots of information about the area and things to do.
Bottom line stunning house, great host!
A gorgeous, obviously much-loved house in the beautiful West Cork countryside - spacious, urbane, welcoming. What really sets it apart is that it is an architectural and esthetic delight - modern, clean lines, natural materials, huge windows, spacious deck, unexpected design details, high quality finishings throughout. An architectural and esthetic delight (what better vacation home to stay in than one designed and built by an architect for his own use?). Space creates mood, and we found the house to be deeply relaxing, even on a rainy day doing nothing. Drumbeg stone circle is a 15-minute walk away, otherwise not much around except for beautiful countryside. Groceries, restaurant etc available a short (10 minute) drive away. Paul and Joan were very welcoming and gracious. Would happily stay again.
