We booked a pool house with Morgan for our Honeymoon stay in Bali. Before reaching Bali we tried calling Morgan several times but didn't get any response so we took the assistance of Airbnb and finally we got in touch with Morgan who mentioned that all arrangement are made as per booking and she will take care of it. When we reached we were given a villa for which Morgan informed us that the place we booked is under maintenance and that's the reason she has allotted this place for our stay. In the whole conversation she never mentioned that it's a temporary arrangement. After 2 days she informed us that we need to vacate the place as it's not no more available and need to move to another place resulting in wasting our whole day and cancelling all booking we made for the day. We were moved to a KTS Villa for next four nights but during our whole stay after dropping several messages to Morgan for all inconvenience we faced due to all movement from one place to another resulting time and money lose we bear due to Morgan, she never called us or visited us to discuss what exactly went wrong. She only visited us on the last day at the time when we were leaving for airport when I didn't had much to mention to her rather than that I was really upset with all the hassle we faced
I hope you had an easy return journey home and am sorry you left disappointed by our service. We run a proffessional villa renting service for which most are very happy with. It is true that we had to move you at the last minute due to flooding, the house was leaking, not under maintenance and this was specified from the start. This as you can imagine is an unforeseen problem after we had heavy rain and rather than cancelling your stay I gave you the option of two villas which were an upgrade, at the same rate without question. These two villas are normally charged at double the rate you paid for the original villa which I felt only fair due to your inconvenience and I bore the cost of this to try to enable your stay and honeymoon to be as easy as possible.
As you know we tried to contact you unsuccessfully 3 days before by text and several phonecalls as soon as we discovered we had to move you.
In hindsight, I should have perhaps cancelled your booking rather than try to accommodate you in a luxury villa when I see that the facts you are giving are not only unfair but incorrect. My cousin came to do the check in as he regularly does when I cannot be there and you were supplied with his number and all the general information about Bali. We tried to make the move as quick and easy as possible for you but I understand you were inconvenienced during your honeymoon and really am very sorry.
I can only apologise and hope you recieved the flowers sent after your move.
Because of some personal reasons,we have not lived this room.and we arrived very late at night, it's very dark outside and inside too,we can't find stuff there and so my kid felt very scared so we moved another villa.
On arrival I was greeted by Jordan, Morgan's brother who showed me around the property. He explained that Morgan was Way on a trip and that I had the place to myself, which was pretty amazing after a month travelling around hectic South East Asia. He arranged the scooter for me for my full stay which at 50000 Rp per day (less than £3) was an absolute bargain! He also lent me a mobile phone so I could call for food deliveries until I was ready to explore. There is a vast selection of menus in available and information about what to do in the local area. Morgan had also arranged an airport transfer for me costing 250000 Rp (£15) which was extremely convenient as the property could be difficult to find yourself on just arriving. The property itself was stunning, a secure compound, full of lush green foliage and well kept gardens bursting with wildlife. There was 3 dogs, which made my stay feel much more secure, and the dogs were very friendly. The local area was stunning, with beaches less than 20 minutes on the bike and numerous attractions locally. The outdoor shower, pool and garden lighting made for some very relaxing evening after days of exploring the local area. The locals were friendly and we're happy to help and extremely chatty. Filling up the tank for the scooter at 9000 Rp (£.36p) was a bargain too, which is so simple as the local shop owners will just do it for you if you ask. I am visiting Bali again in January with a large group and would definitely be interested in staying here again. The experience was extremely authentic and very humbling. On my final night Morgan returned from her trip and introduced herself, she's a lovely host. Reading some of the reviews I feel that people forget the concept of Airbnb, to me the purpose of the site is to self initiate travel and be unaffected by your host and that's just what I wanted and indeed got. If you want to feel like you are experiencing this area of Bali alone with the security of having everything organised for you in a well presented accommodation then this is for you. I cannot express how beautiful it was and how calming the whole experience has been. The accommodation is cleaned daily and the grounds are serviced by various friendly staff. As a pointer I would recommend you be adventurous and use the bike, it's not as scary as it seems. Also visit Ubud and get to grips with the easy to read hand drawn map that is given to you on arrival. The food from Bali Buddha is amazing too. I would really recommend. The air conditioning isn't the best due to it's position, but as I was staying wanting an authentic experience I didn't use it anyway. Thanks for hosting me and hope to stay with you again on my way to NZ next year....
The property was beautiful; exactly like in the photographs listed. The quaint, rustic feel to the villa is noteworthy and it has an almost mystical feel to it. For those who prefer some quiet and don't mind a little ride , this works just perfect as it feels comfortably distanced from the noisy roads while also not being far. The 3 loving dogs in the property adds to its charm, making us miss our pet back home less.
Our only disappointment was in that some things could have been handled more efficiently/professionally:
1) Welcome: when we got to the villa, the taxi guy (arranged by host) just took his money; leaving us alone in the property with our bags left outside. Neither was the host nor anyone from her side present to receive us. We waited in the hot sun for over 1 hour after a long 10 hours travel until the host sent over someone to help us get checked into the room/villa.
My thoughts: Since this was booked months ahead and I had constantly kept her informed of my flight date/time, it wouldn't be too much to expect that the host ensures someone, if not herself is around to help us settle in as soon as we reach the property.
2) Promise: When the host sent over someone, we were told the pool villa is being occupied for another additional day and so we were being 'upgraded to a bigger space in the same property'. Also later in the day we were told that guest in the pool villa happen to be the owner/ host's relative.
My thoughts: We booked the pool villa because we wanted to stay there on our short visit. We don't care too much for 'bigger space/ upgrade', if that's what we wanted we would well have chosen a 'bigger space'. Also while we were moved into the pool villa on day 2, we lost out on a single day in the villa we actually booked. Whether it is the host herself or an owner or a relative/ friend, I'd like to believe by principle that a booking ought to be respected. Also I am active in responding to messages on airbnb, it would have helped if we were told earlier and not on arrival which felt very flawed as a system.
3) Communication: I understand now that the host is a very busy woman but its sad that we had no one to greet us when we arrived nor did she make any attempt to bid us goodbye when we checked out.
My thoughts: We chose a private property because we don't really care too much for the fuss and pampering in hotels but having said that, some hospitality when you are paying for a space is not too much to ask.
Overall, if you are like us -independent and can care for yourself you will not have too many complaints from the property- Because the property in itself is a complete treat.
Instead of the poolhouse we got a free upgrade to the Villa. Which is on the same compound. The Villa has a authentic feeling. We had a great stay there. To get arround, you best hire a scooter. One thing, it's not so quite as you might expect.
I ended up not staying at this place, which I booked bc on airbnb bc it was not functional at the time of my arrival. I didn't get the notice until the day I was supposed to arrive, but Morgan made up for it. She got me another place just down the street from her where I was able to meet and hang out with more people from all over, so it worked out well and she refunded me my money and took care of the night at the other place. I was disappointed at first but I think it worked out even better this way.
Morgan nous a accueilli les bras ouverts. Le seul regret est de ne pas être resté plus longtemps dans cet endroit de rêve...
