This ocean front condo has the feeling of being on the beach. It opens out to a lawn and the ocean about 20 feet away. You can see the yellow fish in the breaking waves and surfers when the seas are the right size for them. Spinner Dolphins and Humpback whales can be seen often. You also look out on to the pool. There is good privacy in front of the condo as the gates to the pool and lawn are locked at night.
The condo is located along Alii Drive S. of Kailua-Kona with Pahoehoe Beach Park on one side and Magic Sands Beach on the other. There is a restaurant in the building. A nice shopping center, keauhou, is about 1 1//2 mile to the south of the building. At the Keauhou Shopping Center there are several restaurants, shops, a drug store and a market. The snorkel beach Kahalu'u is about 1/2 mile to the south,
There is an open air bus that comes by about once an hour and stops in front of the building. It is free and travels between the Keauhou Shopping Center and Kailua-Kona village.
We say, don't rush around too much, relax, have a pineapple, drink 100% Kona Coffee, swim in the ocean.
There is a bus that connects Kailua-Kona Village to Keauhou Shopping Center. It comes by each direction once an hour.

This was a perfect apartment as a base of operations for our visit to the Kona Coast, where we cycled, hiked, and explored beaches.
Kitchen was very well stocked with supplies (there is no range, but complex has a couple outdoor gas grills that are handy). Plenty of bathroom and general cleaning supplies also -- very helpful to have all that stuff at hand.
Check-in instructions were perfect and hosts were very responsive when we had questions. Through nobody's fault but our own our next accommodation could not take us until late in the day and Bob and Alice were very flexible in helping us to figure out arrangements.
As the pictures show and others have noted, this is a ground floor unit right on the ocean. We woke up to dolphins and whales every morning. Really. Be aware that being right on the ocean means that you will hear the ocean all night long. Seas were fairly heavy during our stay and a couple times we were awaken by surf, but then lulled back to sleep again.
For the cost, this seems to be one of the very best oceanfront units in all of Kailua-Kona. If you are looking for a luxurious resort, this is not for you, but if you are more interest in seeing the ocean whenever you look outside your window and less concerned with fancy marketing and linen service, then this is a great place to stay.
I had the pleasure of meeting Alice as she was leaving the condo and we were checking in. She gave us great ideas of local places to go and even drove my husband to Da Poke Shack up the road because he was hungry after a long flight. The condo is definitely as described and looks like the pictures. It is beautifully decorated and we had all of the essentials for our stay and more including wonderful handmade hawaiian soap. The location was great as we took the trolley across the street many times and you could not stay any closer to the ocean. We enjoyed the sound of the waves day and night. The condo was definitely a haven to come back to at night after our Big Island adventures!
I never met Bob & Alice personally when we were there but I know if there was a problem they wouldn't hesitate to rectify it. The condo had everything you could think of and even more. It definitely had enough room to be very comfortable. Although it did not have air conditioning it cooled off quite a bit in the evening making it quite bearable. I absolutely loved going to sleep with the sound of the ocean very close by. Every morning we saw the whales, also the dolphins a few times. The condo is in a great location close enough to the amenities you need. I would stay here again and I also would recommend anyone to stay there. Mahalo Bob & Alice for the use of your condo it is a gem.
We loved staying at Bob and Alice's condo, even with the crazy surf advisory during the time we were there. Watched amazing sunsets from the privacy of the condo, even saw a whale swim by one morning. Comfortable, clean, and conveniently located. Thanks for a wonderful end to our honeymoon!
We loved our stay! Bob and Alice were great host who made us feel very welcome and we're easily contactable. The property was very clean and comfortable, with all the amenities you would need for a weeks stay there. Loved watching the sunset every evening, we'd gladly return!
My husband and I stayed at the ocean front studio in Kona in January 2015. The studio is truly feet away from the breaking waves. The ocean was rough for our four night stay and the crashing waves woke us numerous times, when it felt like they would roll right into our room. The bed linens and towels were very nice. However, the studio had a strange smell, like an old lake cabin, musty and tired. We also had issues with the toilet and shower. I had to readjust the toilet lever so that it would stop running in the middle of the night and my husband had to use the self-adhesive caulk to try to fix the shower head. Good thing there was a junk drawer full of hardware items in the kitchen. We thought that with some more improvements and a general clearing out this studio could be a nice place to stay, but in its current state we will look for somewhere else to stay next time we are in Kona.
My husband and I stayed at Bob and Alice's place for our wedding and honeymoon, and we had a wonderful experience! The place was exactly as it was listed with ocean and beach right outside the door and plenty of space for 2. The shower head broke a couple of days into our stay, and Bob was so nice and fixed it that same day. We will definitely stay here when we return to Kona!

We are Bob and Alice. We have been wintering on the Island of Hawaii for many years and now retired, we decided to buy a house and move here full time. We made the move two years ago and are enjoying life on the island. We are located near beaches and snorkeling places. We are near to Kailua-Kona also. There are good restaurants near by, Annies is one of our favorites. We also really like Jackie Reyes, also quite near. If anyone likes parasailing, the local launcing spot is just above us so we watch them gliding by nearly every day. We have a good view of the ocean and along the coast looking south. We see the City of Refuge, Honaunau National Park and part of Kealakakua Bay. We'd be happy to help you to know what is going on around the island and where to find what. We look forward to meeting you. Aloha
