Our home is located in the Cèze River Valley which is one of Provence's best kept secrets!
From Saint-Gély, the picturesque villages of Cornillon, Goudargues, Roques-sur-Cèze and Montclus are minutes away. The region is extremely rich in history. Roman and Medieval sites, towns, and cities are abundant. These attractions include Pont du Gard, Orange, Nîmes, Uzes, Arles and Avignon.
For those who enjoy wine tasting, Saint-Gély has a wonderful winery. There are also innumerable fine wine cellars in the area, with Chateau-Neuf-du-Pape being the most prestigious, only a twenty minute drive away.
The region's landscape allows for diverse outdoor recreational activities. Visitors enjoy kayaking, canoeing and hiking. Adventurers also go spelunking and caving in the Ardèche river valley system.

Claudette's home is located in a small idyllic village near Goudargues and was an ideal base for day trips around this pretty part of France. The host was very accommodating to our needs and our party really enjoyed the advantage of the pool for the kids and the wonderful terrace to relax in the evenings. The house was full of character and provide everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The river Ceze 2km away was a great favourite of our party for canoeing, swimming and stone skimming. We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this to others looking taste of rural french life.
This is a beautiful location in an absolutely stunning area. We adored our stay here aside from a few issues - our favourite aspects of the house: the beautiful covered terrace where we ate our meals, the wonderful pool and lounge chairs, and our proximity to wonderful villages, vineyards, historic sites, and everything you would hope a visit to Provence would include. The kitchen is as described and well equipped. Monique the lady who takes care of things was very nice and was there to meet us as soon as we arrived. She welcomed us with a bottle of local wine and ice cream bars for the kids.
For an old house such as this, you cannot expect things to be in pristine condition and this is no exception. We found most of the amenities to be overall satisfactory, however, parts of the house were un-usable which are worth mentioning. The indoor "lounge" area was musty smelling, cluttered and uncomfortable (the TV and DVD player did not work). The outdoor lounge "La Cave" pictured in the profile is not at all as shown...it was full of leaves and dirt, and being used as a storage area- there is no couch and chairs for relaxing whatsoever. The gas BBQ available is ancient. You are basically cooking over a gas flame (no lava rocks or briquettes). The charcoal BBQ wasn't much better. We found the cleanliness overall to be very average - the rugs all need a good shaking out, the bedding was very tired (mattress covers looked unclean, no covers on the pillows...) and we were provided with the very minimum in terms of towels for our stay, none of which were to be used near the pool (not very convenient for a family of 4 travelling). Also the drain in the shower on the second floor was clogged with hair which had to be dug out at one point during our visit. The shower on the main floor was un-usable - the shower head sprays water everywhere but on you, and with only half a shower curtain, not a good idea.
The ceiling fan in the master bedroom was broken, as were the two fans we were given to help in the interim.
We were quite shocked to hear from the owner after our visit that we had left the house dirty. Despite having removed all of our trash, cleaned out the fridge, etc., and removed all bedding/linens as directed ... Not sure what the $107 cleaning fee was supposed to cover...
