The Space

Private 1 Bedroom in a sunny Loft style apartment in Industrial Red Hook in South Brooklyn. The apartment is located in an old luggage factory building complex that was renovated into live/work artist studios 10 yrs ago.

The apartment itself is on the 2nd floor (walk up, but a breeze). With 18ft ceilings and 25ft of south facing windows overlooking the courtyard and park, its super spacious. It has small plank pine floors with lots of character, lots of plants and a pleasant mixture of sleek modern furniture and salvaged/reclaimed pieces. $80 a night is a good value and you'll save even more by using the laundry facilites in the building and the full kitchen: stove with oven, fridge. Feel free to use the french press There's also bike parking in the building and car parkings is easy to find on the street. The room itself is private, comfortable and nicely decorated.

It is an industrial neighborhood that times can feel like a welcome respite from the tourist crowded enclaves that are prevalent in Manhattan and other parts of Brooklyn. With that said, if you want to dive in to the NYC experience, its just 10 mins from F,G trains on Carroll Street(25 mins to midtown manhattan, 30 mins to Williamsburg). B61 bus stops 2 blocks away, perfect for riding down to the pier with a bottle of wine and looking at the statue of liberty or up into Brooklyn Heights/Cobble HIll and Park Slope. 5 minute walk to shops, bars and restaurants in Red Hook. 10 minute walk to bars, restaurants and shops in beautiful Carroll Gardens.

Your host works nights at a local restaurant so you'll pretty much have it to yourself during the day. I will be happy to direct you to all the cool local foodie places in the neighborhood as well as sightseeing and shopping. I am fun, friendly, clean, responsible and respectful and I look forward to hosting fun loving people and sharing my neighborhood and home with them!

  • Great loft and a great host! I loved the area! It might not be as flashy as Manhattan, but the industrial feel is amazing, and quietly welcoming. You can walk from the loft to the open water in twenty minutes, past Baked (best hot chocolate I've had, by the way), past Lobster and Pound, past the Fairway and BBQ place, and you'll just see water, water and the Statue of Liberty.
We really liked neighbouring Carroll Gardens, especially their restaurants (The Kittery, Buttermilk Channel), and Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO and its incredible views over Manhattan, are only a 10minute bus ride away.

  • Had a great time staying with Roberto. My girlfriend and I loved the location with its easy access to Manhattan. Roberto gave us a map with his favorite spots around red hook. Definitely check out red hook bait and tackle for a great local bar. Overall, excellent location and host. Next time we're in town, we're staying here!

  • My friend and I loved our 2night stay at Roberto's! He's a great host, the place was gorgeous, the location perfectly set between the subway and charming redhook, and such a great price. Carmel and I will happily stay there next time we're in Brooklyn, it was really perfect.
    Thanks Roberto!!

  • My 15 year old and 10 year old son and I had a great stay at Roberto's loft. It was very comfortable and Roberto was responsive and friendly. We have a lot of fun exploring Red Hook and getting breakfast at Fort Defiance and Baked on Van Brunt Street. Thanks Roberto!

  • This was my first experience with Airbnb and it was incredible. Everything was exactly as described for this sunny Red Hook loft. The apartment was clean and well appointed, the bedroom comfortable and private. Although Roberto and I never met in person, I felt that he was a very attentive and easy-going host. He easily facilitated our acquiring the apartment keys via his neighbours and girlfriend and responded quickly to any questions I had for him. Overall this was a great experience and I would highly recommend staying at Roberto's sunny loft.

  • Great spacious apartment with a lot of memorable things scattered here & there. Laundry in the building. The nearest metro station is in 10 minutes walk & it takes 30-40 mins to get right from the apartment to the heart of Manhattan. Rob`s really nice guy, easy going, with great knowledge of neighborhood.

  • My Mom and I came to visit family in the Red Hook area. Roberto was a perfect host in communication with us preparing for our trip and upon our arrival. He made sure we were comfortable, if we had any questions and if we needed and information about the area. Roberto's home was perfect as a fair price, we slept well, relaxing and everything there for our stay. We definitely would stay again. We thank you very much Roberto for sharing your home.

About
As an avid traveler I look forward to hosting other interesting and globally minded people. I enjoy being out doors and exercising so I do some rock climbing, biking and sailing in my spare time. Otherwise i like to tap into everything that NYC and my neighborhood has to offer, whether it be live music, food, drink and people.
