This glamping site offers accommodation and breakfast in a vintage caravan and gypsy wagon ( see Chez Shea Gypsy Wagon- also listed with Airbnb) Both have been carefully restored, featuring very different vintage interiors. Come and check us out!
Spend some relaxing time in our restored 1979 caravan-very retro, very sweet and cosy. It has two single beds, a small hob, fridge and a gas heater. The beds are comfortable -but they are not particularly long and because of this would not be suitable/comfortable for very tall people. The caravan has a toilet and shower block nearby- with one shower and two toilets-sink, heater. On this glamping site, the bathroom is shared by a maximum of four people at any one time. If the dates you want are not available - please check out our other airbnb listing 'Chez Shea Gypsy Wagon'
The price includes breakfast- we serve a simple vegetarian breakfast, which includes granola, yoghurt, fruit and soda bread and eggs. Everything is homemade- including the eggs which are laid by our hens! We can cater for people on a dairy free or vegan diet. There are limited cooking facilities in the caravan so its possible to prepare simple meals. We have a 'things to do' drawer which has a selection of games and puzzles for your enjoyment. Or- why not bring your knitting and a book and enjoy some time out!
This location provides a good base for people who enjoy hiking, hill walking, and peace and tranquility. There is a pub and a restaurant about 5 kilometres from the house. It is also within driving distance of the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara- both of which are very scenic. Another idea for a day trip would be to take the tunnel road from Kenmare to Glengarrif - possible stopping off at Lorges Choclatiers, Molly Galvins traditional Irish farm and Ewe Sculpture Garden- drive back to Adrigole, over the Healy Pass which has a great view of Glenmore Lake and back home!
Guests may also enjoy interacting with our dogs, cats, ponies, donkeys and chickens- all of whom are very happy to meet new admirers and possibly be taken for a walk!
We supply all bed linen and towels.
Other Things to Note
Special rates are available for people who want to book both the the caravan and wagon. Please enquire if interested.
We are fortunate to live in a beautiful unspoiled landscape. Our aim is to have as low an impact on this as possible. With this in mind we operate a number of eco-practices. These include recycling, composting, use of ecological cleaning products and energy awareness.
We ask that guests do not smoke in the caravan.
Marie and her family are extremely kind and caring hosts. We were well received and Marie even had some freshly baked lemon cake for us. The caravan is very clean and neat and provides a unique experience. If you are in any doubt of booking this one, go ahead and book it. You will not be disappointed! Beautiful nature surrounds you the whole time, even on your way there. We will remember this stay for a very long time. Then there is the breakfast.. This was another highlight of our day. Everything homemade, and delicious. Well done Marie and Ger!
We had such a lovely stay in this super cute caravan! The setting is just beautiful and so quiet. Facilities were great and we loved the board games. Loved playing scrabble all rugged up im the cosy caravan.
Despite it being fairly cold outside we were toasty warm in the caravan. Just to let you know my boyfriend is 6'2 and he managed to get a good night sleep.
Breakfast was so yummy as well.
Thank you for having us we really enjoyed ourselves. A hightlight of the trip for sure. Laura and Jimmy
We just completed a wonderful stay in ring of beara. Maire and his husband are really nice. The place is such wonderful and we can see so many stars during the night. They gave us a really warm welcome and provided us everything that we may need. We enjoy the BBQ very much and they are soooooooo nice!!!! We can also see the horses, dogs and lambs in the neighborhood with help of them. I stronly recommend this caravan.
We enjoy the conversation and thank you so much for everything. Hope seeing you again.
I have only one word for this place: It's magical! Way up a beautiful country lane we found it - nestled under trees with the most amazing view of the Kerry mountains, and decorated with a real love of the arts and stunning attention to even the littlest details. Even more amazing were Marie's and Ger's hospitality and warmth. We were greeted with a hot chocolate ("And would you care for a drop of Baileys in it?"). Breakfast - delivered to our cabin door in the morning - included the most delicious homemade bread, homemade scones, homemade lemon curd, homemade granola, homemade porridge with whiskey sultanas ... In between we had wonderful chats; at the end I felt we were friends.
I am torn between wishing this beautiful place an endless stream of visitors and wishing it would remain the best kept secret of Irish tourism. One thing is sure though: We'll be back! Thank you, Marie and Ger!
Marie and her husband Ger were amazing hosts. We greatly appreciated their kindness and thoughtfulness. We stayed in a camper and also tried the wagon. Both of them were fantastic. Not only were they cosy, clean and warm but also artistically decorated with all these little things that made our stay there very special. Immersed in the nature and far away from the city noise, their property is a perfect place to take a break and relax in a peaceful and beautiful surrounding. It is also a great base to explore the beauty of Beara Peninsula. On the top of that we were treated with super delicious breakfast.
A massive thank you to Marie & Ger, we had a great time down in Kerry. They made us feel most welcome and we really didn't want to leave. A great relaxing experience, some great people, a great caravan, a few great dogs & a great breakfast. Just great. We will most certainly be back and be bringing friends.
This little camper is such a treat! Marie and Ger are amazing hosts and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The camper is so comfy and decorated with such imagination and (email hidden)d the food-- delicious and homemade. We HIGHLY recommend this experience. We spent 2 weeks in Ireland for our wedding, and this place and the town nearby are by far among our favorite memories.

My partner Ger and I live with our three children on the Beara Peninsula in Co.Kerry. We live on a small farm which has been in my family for four generations (at least!)The family trade was shoe making, and locally some of the older people still remember this place as the shoemakers house. We all like old things-and that has led us to the idea of setting up a small vintage caravan site. We keep Kerry bog ponies- which are a native Irish breed, donkey's, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs. We are both very interested in local history and love to discuss this with our guests. Funnily enough, I do have a life motto, or life plan. Its quite simple-MFB which stands for 'Make Fehanaugh Beautiful.'- Fehanaugh is the name of the townland we live in, and it's quite beautiful already- but I'd like to help it along.
