This glamping site offers accommodation in a vintage caravan and gypsy wagon ( see Chez Shea Gypsy Wagon- also listed with Airbnb) Both have been carefully restored, featuring very different vintage interiors. Come and check us out!

The space

Spend some relaxing time in our restored 1979 caravan-very retro, very sweet and cosy. It has two single beds, a small hob, fridge and a gas heater. The beds are comfortable -but they are not particularly long and because of this would not be suitable/comfortable for very tall people. The caravan has a toilet and shower block nearby- with one shower and two toilets-sink, heater. On this glamping site, the bathroom is shared by a maximum of four people at any one time. If the dates you want are not available - please check out our other airbnb listing 'Chez Shea Gypsy Wagon'

The price quoted here includes a simple vegetarian breakfast. It will be brought to your door in a basket. There are limited cooking facilities in the caravan so its possible to prepare simple meals. We have a 'things to do' drawer which has a selection of games and puzzles for your enjoyment. Or- why not bring your knitting and a book and enjoy some time out!

This location provides a good base for people who enjoy hiking, hill walking, and peace and tranquility. There is a pub and a restaurant about 5 kilometres from the house. It is also within driving distance of the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara- both of which are very scenic. Another idea for a day trip would be to take the tunnel road from Kenmare to Glengarrif - possible stopping off at Lorges Choclatiers, Molly Galvins traditional Irish farm and Ewe Sculpture Garden- drive back to Adrigole, over the Healy Pass which has a great view of Glenmore Lake and back home!

Guests may also enjoy interacting with our dogs, cats, ponies, donkeys and chickens- all of whom are very happy to meet new admirers and possibly be taken for a walk!

We supply all bed linen and towels.

Other things to note

Special rates are available for people who want to book both the the caravan and wagon. Please enquire if interested.

I loved everything about this place. It's a part of Ireland I would never see as a tourist. It was so beautiful and I was so thankful to Marie and her family. Driving there was a challenge but being there was the most relaxed I've been in all of Ireland! ❤❤❤ This part of my trip I am most thankful for.

We had high hopes of staying here based on other reviews and were not disappointed. Marie went out of her way to make us feel welcome and ensure we were comfortable and had all we needed. The breakfasts were a delicious start to the day - Sitting in the morning sun watching the birds and the sun on the mountains while tucking into fresh coffee and poached egg on muffins! The caravan is very cosy and filled with good books and games for evenings. Wicket, the dog, was a friendly companion and joined us on local walks. Cannot recommend it enough!

We stayed in the caravan for two nights! From the moment we arrived Ger welcomed us and showed us around! He then brought scones and tea to the van. Ensured we had everything and if we had any questions! The next morning he brought us breakfast to our caravan which was gorgeous! Although we were unlucky with the weather and there wa a massively storm it was still an unbelievable experience. Where it is situated is gorgeous and so much to see!! I would highly recommend a stay here! We even managed to have a BBQ even with the weather, and Ger again ensured we had everything we needed for it! The place is extremely clean and so are the toilets! We met Marie briefly who was also very welcoming and apologic that she had not got to speak to us properly! Overall I would give this trip a ten out of ten. Great hosts and great place!

The most perfect getaway with breathtaking untouched landscape. Definitely suits the explorers and wanderers. It was everything it had promised to be and then some. The food is so fresh and to die for. I don't have enough kind things to say about the entire experience! And they have two cute horses in the yard, Henry and Merrylegs :) Marie was an absolutely perfect host and we only regret that we couldn't stay forever!

If you're reading these reviews, the likelihood is that you're considering booking. Just do it! Book an extra day if you can because there's no shortage of interesting places and walks nearby. It's an incredible experience in the most unique setting and the hospitality from Marie & Ger is second to none. 5 stars doesn't cover it, from the welcome scones & tea, the delicious breakfasts each morning, the cosy caravan & spotless bathroom, and the camp fire, everything was impeccable. We had every kind of weather on our 2 night stay in the caravan and it only made it even more enjoyable and relaxing. The rainbow the next morning only confirmed that we found gold!

Response from Marie:
Hi James and Mary, hope you're both well. It was great to meet you and thanks for the lovely review!! We didn't get around to the porridge making masterclass but I'm going to rectify that right now with a little 'on line support'!! This is how I make porridge.. Choose a cup size that you think is sufficient for the number of portions you need. I prefer Jumbo oats for better texture and I use 1 cup of oats to 2 cups of liquid, 1 milk and 1 water. I soak them over night and when cooking I put them on the slowest heat until the porridge gradually thickens. For our guests we pour lots of cream, a spoon of honey and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon to finish it off. and there you have it, our secret is out!! sorry to disappoint you but it's as simple as that!! Marie got a recipe from one of Denis Cotter's 'cafe paradiso' books for whiskey sultanas which we served for a while on the porridge and are great. It involves making a sugar syrup and adding whiskey and sultanas and allowing the fruit to swell up with the sweet whiskey flavoured liquid. Very tasty but probably not the best every morning! all the best for now, regards Ger

We really enjoyed our stay with Marie and Ger. They were really welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Marie prepared delicious breakfast for us and as we had to leave earlier next day, she prepared sandwiches for our journey instead of breakfast. Area is absolutely beautiful and great for walks. Caravan was well equipped and bathroom area is nice and clean. Hopefully we will have a chance to come back again as we really enjoyed it. Thanks again.

My partner Ger and I live with our three children on the Beara Peninsula in Co.Kerry. We live on a small farm which has been in my family for four generations (at least!)The family trade was shoe making, and locally some of the older people still remember this place as the shoemakers house. We all like old things-and that has led us to the idea of setting up a small vintage caravan site. We keep Kerry bog ponies- which are a native Irish breed, donkey's, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs. We are both very interested in local history and love to discuss this with our guests. Funnily enough, I do have a life motto, or life plan. Its quite simple-MFB which stands for 'Make Fehanaugh Beautiful.'- Fehanaugh is the name of the townland we live in, and it's quite beautiful already- but I'd like to help it along.
