Chez Shea- vintage glamping

Camper/RV - Private room · Chez Shea at Fehanaugh, Lauragh, Kerry, Ireland

The Space

Spend some relaxing time in our restored 1979 caravan-very retro, very sweet and cosy. It has two single beds, a small hob, fridge and a gas heater. It is located in our old orchard and has a toilet and shower block nearby.

The price includes breakfast- a selection of muesli, fruit, yoghurt ect. We can cater for people on a dairy free or vegan diet. There are limited cooking facilities in the caravan so its possible to prepare simple meals. We have a 'things to do' drawer which has a selection of games and puzzles for your enjoyment. Or- why not bring your knitting and a book and enjoy some time out!

This location provides a good base for people who enjoy hiking, hill walking, and peace and tranquility. There is a pub and a restaurant about 5 kilometres from the house. It is also within driving distance of the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara- both of which are very scenic. Another idea for a day trip would be to take the tunnel road from Kenmare to Glengarrif - possible stopping off at Lorges Choclatiers, Molly Galvins traditional Irish farm and Ewe Sculpture Garden- drive back to Adrigole, over the Healy Pass which has a great view of Glenmore Lake and back home!

Guests may also enjoy interacting with our dogs, cats, ponies, donkeys and chickens- all of whom are very happy to meet new admirers and possibly be taken for a walk!

We supply all bed linen and towels.

  • I stayed in Chez O'Shea only a few days ago on a mini road trip of Ireland. I would highly recommend a stay, the caravan is gorgeous as is the breakfast served in the morning. The surrounding countryside is stunning and was great to get back to basics. A definite must if you can.

  • I have no words for how amazing the stay was. It was super loverly. To find the location, as it was relatively dark, was bit of a challenge, but nothing that a good GPS can't fix. But once there it was heaving. The welcome that we good was just great. The people are so lovely and so open. THIS is the pure Airbnb experience. Also the food was just great. If I go to the south west of Ireland again. I will woo go again.

  • Amazing hosts! It was quite the experience to stay in a caravan, but it was an incredible one for sure! Marie and Joe were incredible hosts, they went above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable and felt at home. The breakfast that they provided was top notch as well. They live in a beautiful area just about 25mins south of Kenmare which offers some pristine views. I would highly highly recommend Marie to any of my friends and family.

    Response from Marie:

Thanks so much for your lovely review. It was a pleasure to meet you both- really hope you enjoy the rest of your time here.

  • Marie & Ger were perfect hosts during our stay. Staying at Chez Shea was one of the highlights of our trip. The location is absolutely beautiful and they've done a wonderful job restoring the caravan. Our breakfast was delicious, too. My husband and I would highly recommend spending an evening or two here. You'll surely not be disappointed.

  • We had a great time staying in this caravan and Marie and Ger were really lovely and welcoming. Cake was left for us and Marie and Ger were very helpful with recommendations of places to go near by when we arrived, and they made us a yummy breakfast the following morning! Location is perfect for quite, chilled nights and the surrouding scenery is beautiful. Would definitely recommend this accommodation to others, and hope to go back sometime!

  • Marie and Ger were the most incredible hosts! They have a beautiful family, and are situated on a most picturesque west coast landscape. Their land is breathtakingly beautiful, and we got to take a nice walk to see it and their ponies, chickens, ducks. They also have 4 very friendly dogs, who were usually laying outside our caravan door, making us feel quite at home. The caravan was a very comfortable stay, and included everything you'd ever think you'd need. Marie also makes the best breakfasts in the morning. I've never had better pancakes! Thank you guys for a wonderful conclusion to our Irish adventure this year!

  • How very lucky I was to stay 3 nights at Chez Shea! Honestly, it was hard to leave. Every sensory awakens here and the caravan is a treasure!..there's every bit of well being, warmth and comfort available. Marie and family are treasures too! very kind and accommodating, you will want for nothing! I arrived to fresh baked bread, butter and jam. The caravan was equipped with a french press coffee maker, coffee, Mueslie, milk, juice and eggs from their own brood that I enjoyed each morning. Best I've ever had. Truly. Marie baked scones for my last morning and she left fresh veggies from her garden that I prepared the following night. The view to the mountains, the immediate lush surrounds, proximity to the coastline and even a niftty pub (serves a light menu...steamed mussels and such) just 5 minutes down the road make this a dream spot not to miss. The location is simply superb for a quiet yet exhilarating stay...Love the Beara Peninsula, Love Chez Shea!....I'll be back.

  • We had one nice night "Chez Shea"!

We arrived a bit late and by night, but Ger took all the time needed to explain us how to live and sleep in the caravan, showed us the bathroom etc. They even cook a VERY good apple pie to welcome us!

In the morning, they both bring us a nice and full breakfast with fresh fruits, yogourt, cereals, juices, pancakes, etc. Yummi! Then we talked about our next days of trip, very useful, and kept talking about Marie and Ger's projects.

All in all, we had a great time there and would have liked staying a bit more there. We hope Marie and Ger will open their new caravans soon! Go there!

  • brilliant setting, lovely hosts, friendly animals, great views, healthy breakfast. myself, my girlfriend and 7 year old daughter loved every minute from the moment we clocked our eyes on the caravan to the moment we said goodbye.i wanted to get away from city life for a day or two and it couldn't of been more perfect. no tv, music , phone, shouting , just peace. my little one played with the 3 dogs most of the time, and if she wasn't doing that she played with marie's children who gratefully shared some time with her. we never felt the need to worry and so made the most of it enjoying a glass, sorry bottle, sorry two bottles of wine, sat outside the caravan looking into the steep burrenesque mountain. we talked and talked and before you know it, we were in bed {seperately} waiting for our 7 year old to come in.the caravan itself was small, but surprisingly had enough space to do what you had to do. we cooked ourselves a couple of burgers on the hob and enjoyed a couple slices of cake kindly left by (website hidden) was very.cosy due to the 70's lights, the little gas heater was on for an hour and that was enough to keep us warm. other physical activities were put on the burner for fear of us tipping over or falling through the seats but it didn't matter one bit, it's very rare, i or we had nothing negative to say about our stay and i guess that says it all. thank you to marie, ger , the kids and the animals.

  • Is was a really nice stay at the caravan! The environment is fantastic, looking over a mountain. And in the evening it's absolutely quiet. Marie is a lovely host; warm and enthusiastic. She shared some vegetables from her own garden with us and made us a delicious breakfast. I would absolutely recommend this place!

My partner Ger and I live with our three children on the Beara Peninsula in Co.Kerry. We live on a small farm which has been in my family for four generations (at least!)The family trade was shoe making, and locally some of the older people still remember this place as the shoemakers house. We all like old things-and that has led us to the idea of setting up a small vintage caravan site. four people! We keep Kerry bog ponies- which are a native Irish breed, donkey's, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs. We are both very interested in local history and love to discuss this with our guests. Funnily enough, I do have a life motto, or life plan. Its quite simple-MFB which stands for 'Make Fehanaugh Beautiful.'- Fehanaugh is the name of the townland we live in, and it's quite beautiful already- but I'd like to help it along.
