This was an okay place to stay in chicama, but nothing special. We enjoyed the location near to surf and town / restaurants. The view from the top is one of the high points in town. Also, the cookies were great post surfing. This place is not luxurious-- there was no hot water, w…

Response from Brian:
FIRST OF ALL, i would like to thank Ben for staying with us for 2 days. Second, he came back for a third additional day, INSTEAD OF MOVING TO ANOTHER HOSTAL! And thank you again Ben for giving me the oppurtunity to go into a wide array of details that could normally be overlooked. I hope after yours and my comment future guests will have a much clearer picture of my hostal than before reading my our comments. We NEVER claimed to be luxurious. Thats would be the Chicama Boutique Resort and it costs 150us dollars a night. What exactly is 'much cheaper' than the ten dollars per person that Ben spent? There is not one hostal in chicama that is less than 7 dollars per person. This is a very poor town and we must study our competition to survive. The few Hostals that ARE cheaper than us have no kitchen, no cable tv, no hot water, no balconies or terraces, no english speaking staff, no onsite restaruant, no 24 hour access. no security cameras, no pressurized water system. Bens reservation was for 2 nights, we do not clean the rooms when they are occupied for such a short stay unless requested. Most hostals in these price ranges do not even provide toilet paper, and yes, he did have to ask for toilet paper and we gave it to him immediately. Lastly, for all guests that ever travel, if there is no hot water you need to tell SOMEONE! We have invested alot of time and care in our showers for our guests. We have installed 3 completely separate hot water systems to provide the best service for our clients. Yesterday our new clients checked in and within 2 hours notified me the hot water was not functioning. Within 30 minutes I went to the roof and changed the propane tank and then, they had hot water! The propane tank was empty. Our hot water is superior to all others, we have instant hot water and a pressurized water system. That means the water does not 'fall' out of the showerhead, the water here is pressurized like all modern day homes and hotels. NONE OF THE OTHER HOSTALS HAVE THIS! The hot water is provided by a tankless on demand heater, this means you can take 25 showers in a row and still have hot water. The other hostals have hot water TANKS, this is where you can take 2 showers maximum , then the hot water tank is empty and you must wait 1 hour for it to be hot again. When there are 15 to 30 guests in the competitions hostal, only 2 are getting a hot shower with no real water pressure. Ben may have 'looked at' other hostals but obviously didn't stay there to experience all of what I am pointing out otherwise his review would not be so biased. We cant fix something if we dont know it is broken. Ben has been VERY UNFAIR IN HIS REVIEW and my heart has truly been hurt. My hostal is my baby and i put all my pride and effort in keeping this place at its best. Also, the wave is 1 mile long. My hostal is just as close to the wave as any others, we ARE BEACHFRONT. The wave peels right across the front of our hotel as it does many others. Our hostal is closer to the end of the wave. You stated there are others closer to the wave, this insinuates we are not beachfront, and that is just wrong, let me explain. The beginning of the wave is 1/2 mile OUT OF TOWN. So when you say other hostals are closer, closer to what? What part of the ride? The begining of the wave? The middle of the wave? Maybe , but when the ride is over youre in front the kids park! This is well past our beachfront hostal? Our hostal is DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE WAVE AND NO FURTHER AWAY THAN ANY OTHER HOSTAL .

Brian was very kind to us. We came in the low season (which is when the surf is not up) so there weren't many people there. Brian fired up his kitchen so we could order yummy breakfast burritos each morning and good american hamburgers one night. The room was clean and comfortab…
