Idyllic writers retreat- quiet, peaceful, no car needed. Our renovated farmhouse is nestled in the woods off the Main Rd, so you get the country feeling and a lot of privacy, but can walk to restaurants, shops, grocery store. Bike to wineries and beach (Long Island Sound or Peconic Bay). From NYC you can take an express bus or train and walk to the house! After a brisk walk or bike ride sit in front of the roaring fireplace. Talk to us about a monthly or seasonal winter rental at a reduced price.
Greta's home was an amazing escape from the city life. She was also a great host, offering her suggestions for wineries, restaurants, etc for a perfect stay in everything North Fork. I plan to stay again when I head to areas! 100% perfection!
Greta's home in North Fork is exactly as described and perfectly suited for anyone visiting to do wine tastings. It is right in the center of town, yet tucked away on a quiet road in a beautiful, serene setting. The house is spacious and was nice and clean. Greta was also very accommodating for a shorter stay at a fair price. I highly recommend staying here!
We spent memorial weekend at this lovely home hosted by Greta, Andrea, and Toby. They were wonderful in making sure our stay was comfortable in every way. The home itself is beautiful and peaceful, located on a private nature preserve but very close to town. They have a nice outdoor area to lounge around and watch the birds, rabbits, and deer roaming. Since the weekend turned out to be cold and rainy, we ended up spending most of our time indoors. Luckily, they have a good collection of DVDs and vinyl records, which we played alongside the crackling fireplace. We also took drives to the local wineries and farms, where we picked up some food and wine to do a "cookout" indoors. They do have a BBQ grill, but because of the rain, we did our cooking in their kitchen which was stocked very well with pretty much everything you would need. I do hope to visit again in the future and hopefully the weather will be friendly next time around :)
Greta was incredibly accommodating to us & her house is in a fantastic position, just off the main street in Southold. Close to all amenities, but feels very remote & private. The garden is a sunspot & we spent some lovely hours relaxing in the garden, watching the birds, rabbits and deer wandering around.
The house is spacious and the kitchen well-stocked with all appliances you might need. Would highly recommend.
Place was really amazing. Great location near all - wineries and village. Secluded spot. Great fireplaces indoor and out. Ton of vintage old records to listen to.
All in all a fantastic experience.
Greta's home in Southold was fantastic; its on a certified wildlife preserve so you'll see no shortage of animals wandering around her property. The space is super comfortable for a relaxing weekend away on the North Fork, my fiancee and I had a fantastic time for her birthday.
We had a great time in Southold - the house was easy to find and in a great location close to many wineries, cute restaurants, and nice places to walk. Greta left easy instructions/tips about the house which made our stay a breeze. We particularly loved the fireplace and the jacuzzi tub!
