Livorno was defined as an "ideal town" during the Italian Renaissance. Today, it reveals its history through the structure of its neighbourhoods, crossed by canals and surrounded by fortified town walls, through the tangle of its streets, which embroider the town's Venice district, and through the Medici Port characteristically overlooked by towers and fortresses leading to the town centre. Designed by the architect Bernardo Buontalenti at the end of the 16th century, Livorno underwent a period of great town planning expansion at the end of the 17th century. Near the defensive pile of the Old Fortress, a new fortress, together with the town-walls and the system of navigable canals, was then built. After Pisa's silting up, distance from the sea and loss of dominance, Livorno took over as the main port in Tuscany.
In my house you will feel at home, free to discover one of the most fascinating area in Tuscany. From here you can reach by train either Florence (one hour and a half) or Pisa (ten minutes). Or you can just enjoy the most fascinating places in my town: Terrazza Mascagni, an amazing terrace on the see, the Venezia area with canals, nice restaurants and night bars where live music is performed almost every night, a magic sunset on Calafuria rocks, facing Gorgona Island whose skyline reminds of a woman's profile floating on the surface of the sea. Don't miss the Italian style "aperitivo" from 6 p.m. to late in the night, often with live music.
My apartment is at the fourth and last floor of a building dating back to the sixties: parquet is everywhere and this makes it comfortable. The windows on the roof let the natural light come in whereas a pleasant breeze coming from opposite open windows won't make you miss a conditioning system.
The kitchen is fully equipped with oven and refrigerator so that you can prepare nice food by yourself. Nearby there is a big market where you can find fresh vegetable and fruit, fresh fish and delicious bread and "schiacciata". Don't miss our "torta di ceci", something you can not explain but only try. You can have it "plain" or with "focaccia" or "pan francese" (French bread): in this case, it is called 5and5, because after the second world war it was sold for 5 cents of bread and 5 cents of "torta".
Come on, join us in this amazing and unusual world!
Please note that parking is not easy in this area: you can park your car for free 15 minutes walk far from the apartment (or 3 bus stop). If you find a place nearby, you have to pay during day time, from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm and from 3:00 pm to 8 pm, for maximum 2 hours.
One more note for all those who ask for sea and beaches (of course..): sandy beaches are located in two areas: 10 km north of Livorno, the so called Calambrone area, and 27 km south of Livorno, Rosignano Marittimo. These are the closest areas which you can easily reach by car. If you love rocks, then you can reach rocky shores by bike or by bus as they are close to the center of Livorno: small rocky beaches are "I tre ponti" or "La Vela" or amazing rocks where you can easily bath and swim around snorkeling are a bit farer: this is the famous "Calafuria" area.
We rent in toscana the Fulvia appartment. Downtown Livorno, close to the piazza Grande, a beautifull place to eat, full of nices stores and easy to travel from there with bus and train. You have a perfect beach by bus, Pisa and Florence by train, and a lot more...

Me and my girlfriend stayed for five days at Fulvia´s apartment.
It´s been the perfect location for our vacation. Not far away from the sea and florece can be reached in about an hour by car or train.
coming back to the apartment always felt like home. it has everything you need and it´s very lovely.
Fulvia´s been so helpful and lovely to us.
Defenetly worth a stay everytime. :)
I trully recommand this place : very well located, very clean, very well decorated and if you have a car it is very easy to park close!
Fulvia was very nice and available, before and during the trip!
We had a great time in Livorno thanks to her!
The apartment was very lovely, clean and bright. Nice big bed and a very comfy couch. The location was good for us as we were driving to beaches in the area.
Livorno is a beautiful city full of incredibly friendly people, and Fulvia was the perfect hostess. The apartment is fully equipped so that you feel right at home, and having your own kitchen to prepare meals is ideal in a city with such an amazing market, less than a 10 minutes' walk from this apartment). We loved taking in the city's canal and boardwalk, visited some great sandy beaches nearby in Tirrenia, and ate some of the best (gluten-free) pizza we've ever had (we'd recommend Bella Napoli and Chez Ugo). We were sad to leave after just a few nights — we'd highly recommend staying with Fulvia to anyone looking to visit Livorno.
Staying at Fulia's amazing apartment was a highlight of our holiday. We managed to get ourselves a little lost on the way there, and Fulvia was kind enough to come and rescue us, and take us straight to the apartment, which was amazing. She has provided us with some essentials in the fridge for our arrival, and I would not hesitate to go back! Thank you so much for letting us stay with you!
It was great to stay in Fulvia&Ales appartment. it is located perfect and includes everything you need for a stay.
We promise to come back. Thank you
Fulvia and Stefano were VERY helpful - even provided a cot and some babystuff for our baby. The place is really nice and Well-equipped. I would recommend it to others anytime.
What a perfect holiday in Livorno! The apartment was just what we wanted for our 10 day baby-moon holiday. Tasteful, clean, comfortable, homely and a million times better than a hotel.
The local supermarket and also the big Livorno fresh food market are just a short walk away from the apartment. We were in heaven as my hubby could drop past the market and cook up a storm in the kitchen with all the lovely Italian ingredients (while I lazed on the sofa, chatted to him and dozed). A light breeze flowing through the apartment on a warm spring evening.
The apartment is light and airy - on the top floor but this was no problem for me even at 34 weeks. Bed is comfortable, fresh sheets, plenty of towels, fast internet and everything that you could possibly want.
It was easy to get around the town and also to the train station (via bus), which gave us access to Siena, Lucca, Florence and other nearby towns with beaches for day trips. We could have easily stayed longer than 10 days. I would highly recommend going to a thermal spring if you have time.
Fulvia and Sefano were the perfect hosts. Stefano picked us up and took us on a short tour of the city so we could get our bearings before settling us into the apartment. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, while being discreet and unobtrusive. Fulvia's shop is also gorgeous! A must-visit!
I can not recommend this apartment or Fulvia and Stefano as hosts enough. It was the perfect, relaxing holiday that we wanted and needed!
