This peaceful 170 sq ft. cozy cottage is a perfect get away in the heart of Hawthorne. The cottage is extremely quiet and wonderful for sleeping and hanging out. It has a small table for eating (if you like). A full bathroom, kitchen, dining room, and living room is inside the home and only 10 feet away.
The cottage has a comfortable queen sized bed and beautiful walnut hardwood floors. There is a cot under the bed if one doesn't want to share the bed. There is an oil space heater in the cottage as well. The cottage is fully insulated and warms up quite nicely. A fan is provided as needed.
This is a wonderful place for one or two people or a cozy family if you enjoy little retreats in the heart of city life. The space is clean, simple, and full of love. We hope to see you soon.
The main house for use of the restroom, kitchen are most frequently used. Access to the dinning room and living room are open as well, just note that we have a 2 and a half year old that will be there too!
Street Parking is pretty open for guest to park. It does get full on the weekend evenings.
Interaction with Guests
We love to connect with our guests. Often we are still going to work, teaching classes or taking care of the little one... so we are not available in person all the time, but you can easily reach one of us by cell phone if one needed anything.
We are walking distance to many great frills, such as, New Seasons Market, SE Powell's Bookstore, Yoga Union, Stumptown Coffee, Kure Smoothies, Por Que No? Taqueria, Bagdad Theater and Pub, Float Tanks, and so much more in the Hawthorne district of Portland. We are also a short walk to Division and Belmont Streets, which host many of Portland's famous food carts. Movie Madness, the NW largest collection of movie rentals, is near us as well, just in case you find some time for a movie. If you want ideas or suggestions of what to do, where to go, or what's interesting and fun around town, then we are here for the asking!
It is pretty simple to get to our house using the public transportation of TriMet systems. A busy bus line is just a block away and on 39th there are a many more bus lines to take you most any where you wish to go!

I had a lovely stay at Lotus, Lilyana and Brandon's beautiful cottage nestled in the SE Hawthorne neighborhood. It was easy to get to and once I got there. Lotus and Brandon were very sweet hosts, letting me know if I needed anything, to always ask. The back door to the house is open and it was very nice to get in, take a shower and then head back to the cottage. It is peaceful, quiet and private! I was able to unwind & relax after a busy work week. I will definitely visit again & bring my family next time! Thank you Lotus, Lilyana, and Brandon for sharing your space! I loved every second!
Love and Blessings, Sophie Navarro
Lotus and Brandon are lovely folks. Their little studio sits a few feet behind the main house and is cozy and warm. It's just a couple blocks off the main street but at night it was quiet and dark, both qualities I like in order to get a good night's sleep. No train service nearby but the bus runs every 15 minutes or so that takes you downtown in about 20 minutes. There's a multitude of great restaurants and cafes within walking distance. A large grocery store and several small bars are nearby as well. Hawthorne is a vibrant street and I walked a large portion of it just popping into shops. Lotus was great at helping me overcome some seasonal allergy symptoms with her vast knowledge of essential oils. If a private bath is not a requirement, I highly recommend staying here.
Lotus & Brandon were great. They made me feel very welcome and were interested in my activities. Lotus made me an essential oil mix to heal some bug bites I came with. I left Portland feeling like I had made friends. The room was great. It was warm and quiet. Using the bathroom in the house was easy. I stored food in the frig and heated up water on the stove. Lotus & Brandon are very health minded, so if you are too, this is a good place for you. Lots of cafes and a market are nearby. The bus stop is nearby and Portland's transportation system is great! If you want some air in the room, open the windows instead of the french doors or you will share the room with curious insects.
Lotus and Brandon are lovely people, they were super hosts and made me feel very welcome. The addition of their adorable 4 year old girl really added to the beauty of it all! The space is cute, clean, perfect for one person. And the location is great! Only downside is having to go outside to get to the bathroom, I knew it when I booked but found it a but more inconvenient than I had imagined, esp first thing when you wake up... But if you are ok with that, stay here for sure! Thanks for a lovely weekend
I was on a business trip and working long hours; Lotus went out of her way to meet me at the house, show me where everything was and make sure all my questions got answered. The bed was really comfortable, and it was very quiet so I got a great night's sleep. The only drawback to the room was that the bathroom was in the main house. Overall, I got what I needed - a quiet location and a solid night's sleep.
Great private room. Very quiet. Lotus is so welcoming. I walked Hawthorne Avenue to downtown and found it to be vibrant and very Portlandia. (Took 45 minutes. ). Lots of goods shops and eateries close to Lotus' place, too.
I got in late at night and Lotus was very accommodating to my flight delays. I didn't spend much of any time at the cottage. However, I did sleep well and cozy. WiFi is a dance; I'd suggest connecting inside house first. Only very minor inconvenience is no private bathroom, but you know this up front when booking. Overall, great location and very nice hosts!
Lotus is a massage therapist, yoga instructor and essential oil educator. Brandon is a massage therapist as well and a massage continuing education instructor.
We both enjoy movies. Brandon's favorite is Dead Poet's Society and Lotus's favorite is the Notebook.
The Matrix and Lord of the Rings are pretty dang cool, too. However, any inspirational movie is always a plus.
Brandon is an avid reader and writer. He's had a children's book published, "Penguins on Pluto", and short stories and articles published in magazines. He is writing a Young Adult novel series!
Lotus loves singing and has a voice (this is Brandon writing) that is beautiful beyond words. You just have to catch her singing when she thinks she's alone.
And, when you stay with us, you'll enjoy your privacy. We simply leave you alone unless you would like to have conversations, which we love as well. You have the best of both worlds with us.
