• THE COMPETITION

Fancy yourself as a temporary resident at the famous Gaudi designed Casa Batllo, in the heart of Barcelona? If you’re in town for Mobile World Congress this could be your home for 2 days.

• HOUSE DESCRIPTION

Living in Casa Batllo is not living in a house.
It’s living in a organic skeletal dragon.
In a world renowned artistic masterpiece.

The night of March the 3rd you will open the door to a place that will whisk you back to experimental Art Nouveau in the 1900s - a perfect contrast to the new tech inventions of MWC.

Walk the halls and discover an artwork in every step. Magically vivid mosaics line the hallways and lead to a fairy tale maze of vaulted ceilings with impossibly shaped lights.

The bedroom, with organic shapes inspired by nature, invites you to imagine a time where everything was possible. If you could imagine it you could create it.

You’ll be pampered as soon as you hang up your lanyard as a butler offers you a glass of champagne and you relax in the lap of luxury in your modernism pied-à-terre.

This is just a preview, you'll have to discover the rest of it yourself.

Hola, bon dia! Me llamo Antoni Gaudí. My name is Antoni Gaudí. I studied architecture and, throughout my career, I have brought to my work everything I learned from observing Nature. From an early age, I started developing a special skill to treat space and volume while helping my father and grandfather in our family workshop. Organic and magical creativity move me. Everything in my work is calculated and I don´t leave anything to chance. My search for the best craftwork and high quality materials have enabled me to work with the best woodworkers and sculptors. Casa Batlló, where you will be spending two nights, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005. Due to its unusual shapes, it is known locally as the house of bones, the house of masks, the house of yawns and the house of the dragon. This last name stems from my depiction of the legend of Saint George that crowns the façade with a four-armed cross and the roof representing the dragon’s back. On the main floor, you will enjoy a magnificent gallery of leaded windows overlooking Paseo de Gracia. This is the living room, where I used the best wood. The walls of the inside patio are covered in glazed tiles in varying shades of blue that symbolize the colors of the sea. The attic is supported by a series of catenary arches that evoke the belly of the magnificent Saint George dragon. Right above it, the roof terrace boasts chimneys decorated with a remarkable mosaic of fragments of colored glass. This is just a small preview, you will have to discover the rest... As you can see, dear guest, I´m a perfectionist, always in search of unique experiences and this shines through in each of my creations. Thus I can assure you that in my house you will feel like nowhere else in the world. I´m looking forward to having you at home! Antoni Gaudí
