This is a VERY large bedroom - boasting queen sized bed, large couch, club chair, deco dresser, 8' tall oak mantle, wall length closet, access to garden, own bathroom
Owner is present at the historic shotgun home. You have total privacy at your end of the house. French doors can be closed from room to room. Shared 30' kitchen with beamed ceiling and 3 sets of breathtaking, artist-commissioned stained glass windows (created in 1980 specifically for the house).
All the help you need, in terms of music or restaurant suggestions. OR no intervention at all, if that is your preference...
WIFI, washer/dryer, microwave, quality linens, towels and toiletries provided (dryer currently dead) I take to local laundry for you to use dryer (those industrial ones take 10 minutes...I am now addicted to the speedy wait time :)
Wonderful venues: Elizabeth's just 2 blocks down the street on same block (Zagat rated, famous for it's brunch menu, but lunches and dinners are packed with devotees as well), Bachannal for gourmet, yet casual, dinner choices. Live music out in their garden 7 nights a week; top trumpeter Kermit Ruffins plays and packs the house at Vaughn's every Thurs. night. The rice and red beans come out around midnight. Funky Satsuma coffee house just steps away. Healthy salads, sandwiches, juices and of course COFFEE! Mimi's In The Marigny always voted one of Gambit's "Top Neighborhood Bars". Frenchman Street, with it's endless selection of music venues (many with no cover charge) is just a 2 minute cab ride. Check out the MAP to see just how VERY CLOSE this address is to the French Quarter.
the own large bathroom, the entire kitchen (though I don't expect anyone to bake!) Space made for you in the frig and of course stovetop use is fine.
Interaction with Guests
It is obvious once you arrive whether you want to engage me for information about the neighborhood and city. You can be as alone as you like. Doors close off your space for total privacy. I am frequently in the kitchen because it is massive and that's where my desk is located (one half of a 30' kitchen is sort of a den area).
Funky creative types (sorta like Williamsburg, Brooklyn) many great new restaurants have opened in the past few years. All are within 3 blocks of the house! Elizabeth's, Satsuma, Maurepas, Booty's, The Joint (BBQ), Bachannal (a bit further away, but worth the walk)
Easy to walk to the French Quarter. Cabs come in five minutes after calling. Only about $7.00 to the Quarter. Buses run during the day ($1.25) get you into the Quarter in 5 minutes
No smoking. No pets. Yes there is WIFI so bring your OWN laptop, my computer is 100% off limits. Don't even ask (thank you!) Print out your boarding passes BEFORE arrival or do it at airport. Heavy partying reserved for French Quarter. Looking to host mature and respectful adults. Not boring...just considerate (RE: volume, plumbing, dirty dishes) Please don't leave leftover and/or open food in the bedroom. No major cooking to be done. Just light cooking (stovetop) ***No one brought back to house who is not one of the AIRbnb renters.

Karen is awesome. Gracious host. Just what I needed. Even introduced me to a local artist, which was a highlight of trip. Great spot. Very accessible to amazing places to eat.
Karen's house is beautiful, and she made the stay great. She has put a lot of thought into providing information and amenities that travelers might need, and was continuously offering bonus services. We didn't have the most straightforward stay, especially for someone new to the site with no references (a requested extra guest who ended up not coming, mistakenly booking the wrong days, needing to have items shipped to her house after being robbed while out of the country, etc.) but she was very understanding and communicative throughout the process leading up to our arrival and throughout our stay.

Karen made us feel very, very welcome but also gave us complete privacy. She did many little things that were extra just to be nice. It was great to be able to talk to her about where to go and what to do. Karen gave us great advice. Our suite was just as described with a private bedroom, bath & sitting room. The neighborhood was great. We were able to walk to the public transportation easily which we enjoyed. This was a very good experience for us. We're so happy to have picked this listing!

Karen made us feel very welcome in her lovely home in the Bywater, and was very helpful in terms of providing travel tips and restaurant suggestions, as well as some great local music venues. The Bywater hosts lots of great restaurants only a 15-20 minute walk to Frenchman St and the rest of the French Quarter. We can highly recommend if you're looking for an authentic New Orleans experience!
Karen was an absolute dream! She made us feel so welcome in her stunningly gorgeous home. She went out of her way to make us feel not just comfortable but like we were at home. She promptly brought us a frosty mug of beer only after a few minutes of being in her home. She has great recommendations for anything and around the city including an awesome bbq joint only a few blocks away, great breakfasts, etc. Karen is the kind of host that personifies the NOLA spirit; warm, lively, welcoming, and super fun!
The neighborhood is not only dreamy with the beautiful architecture but it's the prefect distance from the French Quarter, a delightful 15 minute walk. I cannot recommend this incredible home enough!

Born and raised in New York. Been a New Orleanean for over a decade (but have been coming down since mid 80s) Photographer, easy going, not much in frig so you are on your own in that department. Huge clean frig for you to fill up. I will be very helpful with info but will stay out of your way so that you'll feel like you've got the place to yourself, if that's what you're looking for :)
