There is a difference in Kona lodgings, and if you're looking for an exquisite experience, with onsite owners who lovingly care for their home and tropical gardens (yes, we have a pineapple plantation), who ensure everything goes just right, you've found it here.
Come and go as you wish--you have exclusive access with exterior entry to this ground-floor suite. There is one-bedroom (comfy queen-size bed) a private bath, a living room with kitchenette, and outdoor space including a pool. All ultra-clean, modern, and comfortable. The living room includes a sofa sleeper for a 3rd and 4th guest. All rooms have ceiling fans and windows on three sides keep the air flowing.
The kitchenette includes a full-size fridge, sink, coffee maker, microwave, and toaster.
We provide environmentally-friendly soap, shampoo, and dish soap and welcome guests to minimize use of chemicals. We live on a tiny island, and waste goes directly into the land we live on! We also compost and manage our own trash with an effort to minimizing.
You have exclusive use of the suite and 1 parking space. You have shared access to the gorgeous backyard and pool (see house rules below). There is a shared BBQ/grill available on the oceanview pool deck for your use.
Interaction with Guests
We are a couple of friendly, well-traveled guys who love our island. We are happy to welcome you, give you a few pointers, and let you explore on your own, or are willing to help you with more in-depth planning if you wish. We do love getting to know people, and are happy to make new friends and "talk story" as time permits.
We're happy to point you in the direction of great restaurants, awesome coffee, sublime art, groovy farmer's markets, special beaches, and more.
This awesome neighborhood is the Kona dream--close to everything, with views of the Pacific. We are centrally located a short drive from the shops, restaurants, and diversions of "downtown" Kailua-Kona town and Ali'i Drive, charming galleries of Holualoa, and Keauhou.
It's a very short drive to beaches, and yes, you could walk. We're perfectly positioned for you to explore the Kona and Kohala region's beaches and diversions, or head north and experience Waimea cowboy country, or head south to lovely Captain Cook and beyond to the Green Sand Beach and eventually Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
There is a gas station/convenience store steps away, along with Kona's mountainside walking/cycling trail.
Regardless where you stay, we strongly recommend that guests rent a car for exploring the Big Island. Limited public bus service is available, but probably not when or where you would want it. From our house it's a 15-20 minute walk to Ali'i Drive, where a trolley shuttle runs back and forth between Keahou and spots in downtown Kailua, even going as far as the International Marketplace (Target).

Having worked from inns, homes, and hotels around the globe, I know good Wifi is essential--so we offer it as hosts!
We provide Apple TV and DVD player, along with a small selection of DVDs to guests who request this, and there are Red Box locations in Kona. We do not offer cable TV.
All persons, regardless of age, are considered guests. Children and infants included, so if you're requesting a booking for 2 adults plus children, you need to indicate it. W21280098-01
•We are a quiet home for well-behaved travelers.
•Absolutely no partying/loud guests.
•No unauthorized visitors allowed on the property.
•Minors (under 18) may not be left unattended on the property.
•Hawaii State occupancy tax of 13.25% is billed separately upon arrival. Payment can be made by cash or paypal.
•Price for 1-2 people is for use of main bed only use of sofabed by second person requires permission and $20 setup/laundry charge.
•It is tradition to remove your shoes/sandals when entering any Hawaiian home, including ours.
•No smoking anywhere in the house, we have a limited outside area where we allow cigarettes only.
•By booking this suite, you and all members of your party are automatically agreeing to the waiver of liability for use of the swimming pool, which is posted in the suite. No lifeguard is available.
•All beach sand must be washed off before entering any part of the house.
•We care about our island, and encourage you help us by recycling and only putting eco-friendly products into our sewage system.
Aloha! We’re Randall (on the right) & Denni, a couple who live the Hawaii dream. We hope you’ll enjoy sharing it with us for a few days.
We love to help visitors find their way to our island’s wonderful black and green beaches, renowned snorkeling, awesome mountains, and other attractions. But we especially want you to find our favorite hidden gems—farmer’s markets, macadamia nut farms, Kona coffee experiences, eateries, and galleries.
We enjoy attending theatre and other performances during our travels, and as hosts strive to help guests know "what's on" for local theatre, festivals, and music performances.
We like taking walks and runs on the nearby Old Walua Road Pedestrian and Cycle Pathway, and welcome visitors to come along for some exercise with stunning ocean views.
We have both traveled widely around the world. In addition to innkeeper, Randall continues his 30-year career as a freelance travel writer. For fun, he’s a black-diamond level snow skier and a musician. Denni works as a professional travel planner. For relaxation he is often in the kitchen baking, or practicing yoga (but not in the kitchen)! We enjoy reality TV shows and still like Survivor and Amazing Race after all these seasons.
We believe in actively pursuing dreams and helping them come true!
We are mature, quiet, non-drinkers/partiers, and friendly without being in your face.
When we are guests, we are super cat-friendly. Dogs are fine if they are well-behaved; i.e. don't jump on us or demand our attention.
Randall is a native speaker of American English and moderately conversant in spoken Chinese (formerly worked in Taiwan); Denni speaks Canadian English, and Italiano (fluent).
