We had a great stay in Naxos, George came to pick us up at the port and took us back to catch our boat. We were able to rent a car directly from Korali Garden, which was very convenient. Everything was perfect, to the exception that Korali Garden is a bit far away from the center of Naxos, it takes 15 minutes to get to the port by foot, where all restaurants and bars are located. I recommend !
We stayed for one week at Korali Gardens in early July 2017 (I think just before the school summer holidays, which meant fantastic weather and a lively city centre, but not so busy that it was heaving). For the price, this place is superb. It's a little walk away from the centre of town but for us that was fine. We hired a quad bike as we wanted to explore the island so used the hotel as a base, travelling along the coast to the beautiful Pyrgaki beach, and to Plaka, Mikri Vigla, Kastraki and nearby Tripodes. You can't go up into the mountains with the quad, but the main road goes inland to Halki where there is a marked-out circular walking route, stopping off at the beautiful Byzantine churches along the way. George was a great, discreet host, and picked us up from the port at no charge. He offered to drop us off but we were getting a very early ferry and refused his generous offer, opting for a (10EURO) taxi instead. With minimal luggage it's very walkable - don't forget to visit the temple of Apollo if you're up that way and get there early for the sunset - but we had big bags with us. The hotel is equipped with a pool which was very pleasant for lounging. It's right next to a main road but that didn't bother us - if you are a light sleeper do bring ear plugs or request a room not facing the road. The rooms are cleaned daily (which was a pleasant surprise) and are clean and bright, very functional. It's cheap and cheerful, next to a bakery (where you can buy bus tickets) and a small supermarket which are open late, and the rooms are equipped with kitchenettes so it's easy to make yourself breakfasts/store water in the fridge and take the 10-15 minute walk into town to explore and have amazing dinners along the strip (do go up into the Old Town for the view!). Overall a really lovely trip, thank you George and team for hosting us.
We had an amazing time at George's place. It is actually a room in a hotel which was great as there was a pool, it was in a good location (very easy walk into town and to the port), is cleaned daily and the staff are very friendly. They even gave us a little Naxos souvenir when we left. George kindly picked us up from the port and dropped us off for free (although you could easily walk from the port if you wanted to, it would only take about 15 minutes). Overall we absolutely loved our stay on this beautiful island and would definitely try to stay at George's again if and when we return!
