The Space

Welcome to Waipouli Beach Resort! This brand new five-star resort with ocean front restaurant/bar and SPA on property is like no other on the beautiful island of Kauai. It is ideally located in Waipouli, in between the historical towns of Wailua and Kapaa which makes travel to the South Shore (Poipu) and the North Shore (Princeville and Hanalei) quite convenient.

The pool area is awesome - salt water pool with lazy river, slides, waterfalls, sandy kids pool, and 3 sand bottom jacuzzi.

Free high speed wireless and ethernet internet access.

There is a Safeway plaza right across the street featuring Starbucks, Cold Stone Creamery, Organic Food Market and some good restaurants, which is very convenient.

Front desk hours: 8am – 8pm

Parking: Free.

$12/day resort fee is payable directly to Waipouli Beach Resort upon arrival.

  • First, we'll talk about the condo. Waipouli beach resort is an upscale resort right next to the beach. The room was well appointed with granite countertops, a jacuzzi tub, and a comfortable bed. The kitchen was spacious and had everything you needed in there to cook like you would at home. The pool area was really nice (winding river style with 2 water slides and a sand bottom hot tub - must try) and would be great for families. The pool area was also home to some community grills for those so inclined - but they always appeared to be in use and it would be a little bit of a walk to get your freshly cooked meal back up to the room. Beach towels are provided at the pool if you show up before 6 PM. The only con to the room is the beach view... the room has a panoramic view of the pool area, but in order to see the beach you almost need to be on the porch. The porch for this property, if I recall correctly, did not have room for a little patio set either.

Second, the beach: the beach is located a stones throw from the pool. Even though it's nice to look at, the beach is really not all that swimmable (rocky). Keep in mind we were staying in April - I don't really know how the east side of Kauai is during the spring, summer, and fall months.

Third, amenities: 2 grocery stores (also walkable) are right across the street from the condo. Next door to the grocery store is Tropical Dreams Ice Cream and is worth a try - just be ready to talk with the owner. Also nearby is Hukilau Lanai - you should definitely make a reservation and go here! I had the red snapper and it was delicious! Waipouli is convenient to Poipu, but is a little bit of a hike to Waimea Canyon and Princeville.

Look out for the "Activities" stand next to the grocery store - they sold us on a couple of activities on the condition that we go over to Poipu for a timeshare talk saying that we were saving close to $200 for the 2 of us to go kayaking to Secret Falls and on a Blue Dolphin snorkel. My recommendation is to stay away from the activity booths and call yourself. I bet you'll get the same deal we did without the timeshare talk...

Overall: it was a nice stay for my wife and I, but I could really see Anna's condo shine with a family of 4 as it has an awesome pool area, is centrally located, and walking distance to good eats and ice cream.

  • You know those new, modern-looking condos that have fixtures and appliances that look great but are flimsy and cheap to the touch?

Yeah... this is not one of those places.

Beautiful inside and out, we were so glad we picked Anna's unit at Waipouli for our honeymoon! Everything in the condo was well made and really pretty. The view was overlooking the pool (mostly), you can see the ocean from skinny balcony but you probably won't spend time there (there are two balconies, if you're like us, you'll only use the one that has chairs and a table on it). However, the beach is about a 90 second walk away.

We loved the location in Kapa'a: being right in the middle of the Eastern coast meant we were about 40 minutes from everything on the north side and 40 minutes from everything on the south side which let us explore the whole island very easily (went north for snorkeling and SUP, went south for some resort-y sorts of activities and for a particular restaurant).

Absolutely loved our experience and I'd highly recommend it to anyone!

  • Loved our stay here. The pool was great. Having the washer and dryer in the condo was incredibly convenient for a 1-week stay, as was the kitchen with all the basics (coffee maker, toaster, etc.) and even an electric kettle for making tea. The complex and the condo were very clean, and the location was great for driving to both the south and north shore. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

    Would totally recommend this

  • The condo was quite nice, and very conveniently located. I highly recommend it! The only complain I have is that the bedroom decor was not as advertised. The bedding that was featured in the pictures must have been the "owner's personal" bedding, or something of that sort, because during the rental period it was replaced w/ some really ugly bedding. Fortunately, you are in Hawaii, so it is plenty warm enough to strip the ugly comforter and matching pillows off (there were plenty of white pillows to compensate) without getting cold.

Other than this minor annoyance, everything in the condo was awesome. The rest of the decor was modern, nice and clean. Great sized in-unit hot tub (no jets), two toilets, plenty of space, awesome stove/dishwasher/washer & dryer/fridge. Nice tv/dvd setup in both living room and bedroom, decent balcony, but unless you plan on drinking coffee and watching the children play in the pool below, you probably won't sit on the balcony much. The views were nice--overlooking the well groomed & interesting pool area below, but because of the orientation of the condo, it can get a bit noisy from below if the balcony sliders are left open during the day (but why are you home during the day!). The sound insulation in the condo is excellent if the balcony doors are left closed.
