About This Listing
1 bedroom / 1 bath fully equipped apartment in the heart of downtown Memphis, walking distance from city attractions, restaurants, shops, and nightlife.
The Exchange Building, completed in 1910 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, was refitted in 1996 to house 202 attractive efficiencies, one and two bedroom apartments, a penthouse, and handicap accessible units. While the building has undergone a series of renovations, every effort has been made to preserve its historic features, such as the original mosaic tiles, an early-1900s era Tennessee marble staircase, the elaborate plasterwork, and the granite surfaces. The towering marble ceilings of the lobby exude the elegance of downtown living.
The apartments provide a homey feel with a personal touch and high-quality amenities. Several of the units located on the higher floors provide our residents a spectacular view.
Situated at an unbeatable location, our apartments are great for a weekend getaway. Let yourself be inspired by the view and invigorated by the bustling and lively neighborhood. Rest up in our comfortable abodes and make sure to spend enough time exploring the giant playground that is the City of Memphis.

Interaction with Guests
Due to the increased interest in my apartments, I have hired on additional staff to help ensure a pleasant stay for my guests. I travel often, so I have a front desk staff with keys to all of my units so that you can check in at any time of the day with ease. The front desk also has access to the apartment maintenance and housekeeping crews between 9a and 9p daily. When I am in town, I try my best to meet and interact with all of the guests who stay in my apartments. I look forward to the opportunity to meet and host you!
Located in the heart of downtown Memphis, you will be walking distance from most attractions, restaurants, live music, and beautiful parks.
Almost everything worth seeing is within walking distance of our building. The world famous Beale Street is a short 7-8 minute walk away.
Uber is very active in Memphis. This is a great option for shopping and outings further away!
On Main Street, there is a trolley that can take you to all of the wonderful restaurants and shops at South Main (or anywhere along Main that you would like to go!).
There is also a public transit bus stop on our corner and the city's cabs will also provide transportation from here!
This building houses many other residents. Please be courteous and keep excessive noise to a minimum throughout your stay.
Smoking is not permitted in any of my airbnb apartments. Evidence of smoking, candles, or incense will incur a fee for cleaning.
This was a very lovely apartment. It was exactly what I was expecting and within walking distance of a lot of places. The front desk staff was more than helpful and friendly. I plan on staying here in the future. Thank you so much for such a great space!
The flat was perfect for a quick overnight visit. Convenient location downtown and very fairly priced in comparison to other lodging options around the area.
Zero communication from host made for a confusing and frustrating check in process. Asked about check in 24 hours prior to our arrival but no response. Finally just went to building and nice front desk girl helped us get sorted. All in all a fine experience.
We got a last minute deal on this apartment. For the price and location it was about what we expected. Lots of space, good location. However there were a few quirks. The bed is really, really soft...like a piece of foam inside a mattress cover. It completely sank when you laid on it and our backs were not happy after sleeping on it for two nights. Also there is nowhere to hang towels in the bathroom, which others have mentioned and seems like a super easy and cheap fix to make. And the wifi only worked in the bedroom. It would drop every minute or so if you were in the living room.

About the Host, Sardor
I was born in Uzbekistan and raised in Memphis. I'm the middle child, with 2 older brothers and 2 younger sisters -- and recently a 5 time uncle! I've been fortunate to travel the world in my early years and learned a lot about the different cultures around the world. I enjoy learning about geopolitical history, architecture, and technological advancements that benefit the myriad societies around the globe. To me, Memphis is an exciting city that competes with the great cities of the world as a worthwhile stop for play and leisure. Allow me to host you in my apartments, located in the historic Exchange Building in downtown Memphis.
UPDATE: Due to the increased traffic, I hired additional help to make the check-in process more convenient for my guests. The lobby now has a staffed Front Desk, where you will be able to get any assistance, should you need it (24/7). I hope to see you while you're in Memphis, but I do travel a lot and sometimes I miss out on meeting my guests personally. I hope you have a wonderful stay at The Exchange and please don't hesitate to contact me via Airbnb should you need anything.
