Interaction with Guests
We will be around when you need us! I am on-call/on-site, so you can contact me if you need anything at all. Otherwise, you are likely to see me in and out and around during your stay.
I love this neighborhood for its proximity to lively King St, tucked away bakeries like Sugar and Wild Flour, and cool little independent shops like Mac & Murphy (stationery) and Beads on Cannon (beads & jewelry). I love that within 2 blocks, I can be eating brunch and maybe indulging in some sweet gifts at Two Borough's Larder, drinking coffee on a quaint porch at Brown's Court Bakery, or relaxing and doing yoga at Jivamukti Yoga. There is a bike rental place right down the street by King St as well as at our hostel main location, and some really wonderful restaurants in the hip Upper King St area that is conveniently located about 1 block from us, too!
There is a free trolley that runs throughout the entire downtown area, and the stop is only half a block away from us! We also have private, off-street parking available. To get to the annex or main location (where you would check in) from the airport, you can either take a taxi or airport shuttle (which leaves about 30 minutes after every flight that lands from the baggage claim area).
Other Things to Note
Check in is at the main location at 156 Spring Street. Please send us your email via message so we can send you a check in email the day before you arrive with important information about parking, wifi, etc.
Quiet hours are from 10PM to 8AM. Please use common sense, be courteous and clean up after yourself. Put your dish in the dishwasher, put your linens in the laundry basket, have a wonderful time and don't forget to write us when you get back home! We love postcards3
The room was in a great location! Arrival instructions were easy to understand and everything was clean. The head of the bed is placed towards the street, but earplugs were provided and I slept well.
The room is small and near road that makes noise.
Thank you for your review, I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay to the fullest. We do provide earplugs for guests if they find that being in the heart of downtown is too loud. We hope you'll visit us again and try another one of our rooms that is a bit quieter.
Bailey provided some excellent ideas about where to eat, etc.
Definitely a great location. My main issue was that the room is very small and the walls are paper thin, so you can hear everything happening on the street and in the rest of the house (and they were jack-hammering on the street outside the house at 7 am on a (email hidden)t the fault of the house itself). The bathroom was upstairs and a bit cramped, shared among a few rooms. Nice house in general, and generally a good place to stay in Charleston for a quick weekend, but you have to remember that you are staying in an older house with many others.
My stay at the Annex was great! I had originally had to book two different rooms for my two nights, but when I arrived to check in they were able to move someone else so I didn't have to switch rooms. Monet was great and the location in general was perfect. I'd definitely stay here again.
We didn't end up staying in the first floor monet room that we rented because when we arrived the door didn't lock, so we didn't feel comfortable leaving our belongings. I called the main office twice and no one answered. Sent an email and received a call back. They moved us upstairs to a smaller room which was fine for the evening. Only saw one other guest which was nice. Parking is hard because the staff parks along an adjacent building making it difficult to maneuver around. Pros-great location, quiet building and overall clean.
Hi Jennifer, thank you for your review! We've looked into the door and with a good hard pull, it locks but we are replacing it so that our guests feel more secure. We rent the parking lot in the back of the Annex for our guests to have parking, staff doesn't park along the side, those are tenants and we also wish they'd park closer to the wall to have more room! We do hope you'll come and visit us again and are glad you enjoyed your stay.
My partner and I had a quick getaway from Savannah and headed to Charleston!
Check in was easy. The location is great and it is quiet and clean. We had other wonderful guests stay there as well. We were supplied with towels and instructions and plenty of recommendations!
I'd definitely stay again!

The staff at the Notso Hostel are some of the lovelies locals around. Our favorite things to do are eat breakfast with our guests, daydream about traveling and keeping the hostel clean with having as little negative impact on the environment as possible. The hostel is a great place to meet people who enjoy traveling as much as you do.
