Nicely renovated old attached Haus, typical for Brussels from 1911 with a lot of character. 3 balconies. 240m2. Three floors, lots of light, for a maximum of 4 people.
When you walk into the house, there is a beautiful office- and living on your left with old wooden paneling followed by a large dining room towards the back which is separated with a half glass, half wooden door. At the back of the hallway, towards the patio, there is the recently renovated kitchen.
Climbing up the stairs, you first find the bathroom halfway up to the second floor, which has recently been renovated by a design architect. On the second floor, there is a huge sitting room towards the street and the first bedroom towards the patio. The second bedroom is on the third floor towards the street. Each bedroom has a balcony.
The neighbouhood is a blend of a rich residential area with old villas and - on the other side - a more lively international area inhabited by many different nationalities. This is where you will find the shops and restaurants.
There is a tram and bus stop literally just outside accross the street. The city centre can be reached in 10 minutes to the Grand Place and 20 minutes to the European Quarter. There two tram stop and two bus stop just around the corner, one line also goes to the atomium (20 minutes). Park in 5 minutes walking distance. The house is located in a wide alley with lots of other nice old houses from the early 20th century.
There are two grocery stores just around the corner, there is larger supermarket in a 10 minutes walking distance.
The house has its own free parking space in front.
Those who like the combination of quirky old world charm and all the amenities of our century will certainly love this house.
An incredible property and a truly wonderful stay, facilitated by the extremely helpful Arthur.
We travelled to Brussels to celebrate New Year's Eve with another couple and stayed in Arthur's house for three nights and it was everything we could have hoped for. The house is exactly as it looks in the photos, if not better, and was clean and spacious. The bathroom in particular is wonderful! Arthur was excellent to communicate with and provided a quick response to all our queries. The house is a little further out from the centre of town but once you get the hang of the tram system it is very straightforward and you will be in the city centre in no time at all. We would highly reccomend this property for a short or long term stay in Brussels.
I stayed nearly a week with my colleague in Arthur's house and it was perfect. The house is lovely, tall ceilings, lots of daylight, beautifully furnished, good beds, the bathroom is extraordinary, just as it shows in the pictures. Communication was also perfect, I don't know what Arthur does for a job, but he must be in front of a computer checking emails all day and night. I shall surely be back.
The House of arthur is very spacious, very comfortable and contemporary decor. Very handy is the parking at the house. Furthermore, it is quiet and close to the tram , so is easy to reach the center or the Expo. Arthur has a lot of information there, so you can learn much about Brussels. I can well recommend this house!
We stayed 5 nights at Arthur house. There were 2 couples traveling together. The location is very good. We did not use the car to see Brussels, but the nice thing is that you can park the car in front of the house. We used the car to travel to all of the cities around (Antwerpen, Leuven, Mechelen, Gent) .The house is very nicely equipped and huge. The host even put the bottle of wine and fruits for us to enjoy.
We liked it. Thank you, Arthur
Arthur was the perfect host. It is a lovely old quirky house, and has been faithfully restored to keep that homey feel. It may not be right in the centre of where the tourists are, but it is an ENTIRE house - not normal to find in a city - plus it is oozing with character.
It was very clean and tidy, and Arthur gave us the tour, and explained everything. There were handy maps to guide us around the city and the transport system.
It is literally only 15-20 minutes on the tram to tourist central. It is great to 'live' in a real neighborhood, instead of fighting the crowds eating overpriced waffles.
There are shops and supermarkets and restaurants nearby too - so you never feel isolated. This is the perfect place to get away, see a bit of the sights and then come back and relax in one of many rooms and floors. Perfect for two couples on holidays or a long weekend!
