Astoria is one of the best neighborhoods in Queens. The last few years lots of young professional and hipsters have discovered the neighborhoods. Astoria has long been a favorite neighborhood with many families living there for generations. Here are a few of the many reasons to consider staying in Astoria.

Astoria is 15 minutes or less from Midtown Manhattan. The N and Q subways lines run through the heart of the neighborhood, above 31st Street. and R or M along Broadway. It's also a hop, skip, and short drive over the Triborough Bridge to Harlem and to the Bronx. Why waste your non-work hours in a commute?

Astoria Park is smack on the East River with gorgeous views of Upper Manhattan and the Queensboro and Hellgate Bridges. And Robert Moses' Astoria Pool is the king of all outdoor city pools.

Astoria has always been known for Greek food (it is the Greek capital of NYC), and lately it has gained a reputation for fine dining and innovative cooking.

The only old-school, big beer garden left in New York City, Bohemian Hall is wonderful. Turn off crazy urban 31st Street--the subway overhead--and escape into this huge beer garden with its shady trees, picnic tables, pitchers of icy beer, and platters of hearty Czech food and barbecue. It's a must on summer weekends with stein-thumping live folk music on many afternoons. Bohemia Beer Garden is a true urban oasis for families, visitors, and a cast of neighborhood regulars.

The arts are picking up steam in Astoria. Local culture is led by the innovative American Museum of the Moving Image. It is one of the finest museums in New York City for kids, for adults, and definitely for movie aficionados.

Dragan was very helpful and the stay there was great. Apartment was clean, lovely and nothing was missing. Easy to get to and from Manhatten! Thank you for a couple of good days!

My mother and I stayed at Dragan's apartment for a week. We were both positively impressed by the size of the apartment! You can easily be 4 people and still feel like you have a lot of space. The apartment is very close to the subway and within 15 min. you are on Manhattan. Grocery stores were also close by which we used almost every day. I really recommend this apartment if you want to live outside of Manhattan!

Dragan's apartment is as described. Clean and tidy. Charming and we'll decorated. Less than five minutes to the Metro station. Good and fast communication with Dragan. He also kept our luggage once checked out.

Worst AirBnb experience ever. This may be my last time using AirBnb as well, at least in the cities. Let me explain. The apartment is located conveniently close to 46th subway station. It is spacious and has plenty of room for 3-4 people. Although some of the dresser drawers were broken and unusable, there were plenty of hangers and closet space to hang your clothes. The beds were a bit soft, king size bed specially, and we kept rolling into each other at night. We prefer firm mattresses but that's individual preference. The bedsheets didn't seem to be clean or changed. On the queen size bed, I found some body hair when I pulled back the comforter. The comforter covers didn't seem clean or new either. They both had that worn, used softness to them. Not the crisp, just came out of the dryer type of a feel. The WiFi had great connection most of the time. When we had connection issues, Dragan fixed it remotely right away. Dragan was easily reachable by text and very friendly when we met briefly on the first day. There were no tissues in the apartment so we had to go buy some. We ran out of toilet papers during our stay, so we had to go buy some of that, too. The entire house has ant issues, so you will see ants all over the place, specially the bathroom. However, these were all minor issues which would not have been a deal breaker. Our main issue, and a major deal breaker to this place, was the odor and the amount of cigarette smell we had to deal with in the apartment. The rented unit is above the downstairs unit, which Dragan apparently lives. He lived in the upper unit until recently, but switched and started renting out the upper unit. (we know this because when we initially booked it months ago, we booked the bottom unit) He is a heavy smoker and the entire unit smells so bad of cigarette. You can smell the moment you walk in. The cigarette smell is burned into all of the furnitures, bedding and it was bad, we went to Rite Aid near by to buy some air fresheners, which didn't help. Even when we opened all the windows, nothing can make it better. At night, he was smoking so much, it would seep into the upper unit from downstairs. Even with the windows open, he'll go on the balcony and smoke. So we were choking and suffering no matter what. My son was coughing so much at night, we couldn't get a good night's sleep. The apartment is listed as "no smoking", I don't know why. I guess he doesn't want his guests to smoke, even though he smokes? We assumed it was a smoke free environment because of that. It's misleading and should be corrected. The last night of our stay was the worst because he was smoking on the balcony for long time. We...

Dragan's place is ideal to make your trip to New York enjoyable whilst saving some money by not staying in Manhattan! Dragan is a brilliant host, this was the first time I've used airbnb and he always responded to my messages in a very helpful manner. He left us tea and coffee and helped us with our bags as our flights were much later than the checkout time advertised. We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the apartment. Easily comfortable for 4 people, a kind and a queen size bed that were very comforatble, nice bathroom, large kitchen, dining and seating area... can't really think of anything bad to say about the place to be honest! It's located 5 minutes walk from the Subway which had 2 lines perfect for exploring Manhattan. 20mins to Central Park and 45min to the ferries as the most southern point. $32 gets you a 7 day unlimited pass which is very good value! To summarise I would highly recommend this apartment and Dragan as a host.

Thank you for sharing your home with us! Winter storm Stella hit, and our flight was cancelled. Dragan was very flexible! Whenever I had a question he was quick to answer. We had four kids with us 6 to 13 and he was great with them, allowing them in the backyard to play in the snow. We are from Fl so snow is a big deal ;) thank you again!
