Overlooking the Tamar River and set in a lovely garden of native and heirloom plants, Beachside is a unique Cape Cod / Arts and Crafts style home; picturesque and perfect for a quiet getaway or small celebration event.

Built in 1950, she is an old dame, lovingly maintained. The decor and furnishings are in keeping with that era, while gentle renovations provide modern appliances and conveniences in the kitchen and bathrooms.

The space
After a day sight-seeing in Northern Tasmania or wine-touring the Tamar Valley, there is little better than relaxing on Beachside’s front porch and enjoying the view.

The spacious galley kitchen is designed with the foodie in mind. You'll be "cooking with gas" on the stove, baking perfectly in the electric oven or wood firing pizzas in the wood-burning stove. There are a range of cooking appliances in the cupboards and a lot of platters and serving utensils in the deep drawers for those who would like to entertain a large group or host a celebration or event.

Three living areas provide generous personal space for guests and 180 degree views of the deep water harbour of the Tamar River just across the road.

The open-plan lounge has a large comfortable couch, big screen LCD TV, DVD player, wood heater, and reverse-cycle air-conditioner.

The sunroom has informal dining overlooking the river and fabulous 1960s armchairs for relaxing in with a glass of wine or a good book.

The formal dining boasts a rustic 8-10 seat teak dining table and high-backed chairs, and two comfortable armchairs for enjoying listening to LP’s or sipping port by the big open fireplace.

The 3 upstairs bedrooms are expansive, all with water views. Standard configuration is 3 beds (1xDB, 2x QB) for up to 6 people, however a convertible sofa in the front bedroom offers a comfortable bed for an additional 2 people if required (so 4 people in one bedroom).

At Beachside, everything you need for a self-contained stay is provided: linen and towels; all kitchen utensils and appliances; wi-fi internet; general pantry items, and liquid soaps in the showers and by basins.

All you need to bring is clothes and food - for those nights where you don't get fish and chips or wander to one of the pubs for a delicious counter meal on the water…

DOG-FRIENDLY

Beachside is very dog-friendly with 6ft barrier fencing enclosing the large, grassy backyard and a sizeable covered area including a big bed just at the back door.

Well-behaved canine family members are permitted inside downstairs, but not on furniture, as all of the floors are wood or tiles.

Guests have full access to all areas of the house except the attic and garage.

RATES

Airbnb Smart Pricing is turned on so prices fluctuate depending on demand. The lowest base rate of ~$135 per night is for two people sharing one bedroom.

Additional rates apply for extra people (or use of more than 1 bedroom) at $25-30 each per night depending on the season.

I also vary rates based upon length of stay and whether it's peak or non-peak season. If you would like to stay for a week or more, please contact me to discuss what rates I can offer.

Beachside is professionally cleaned between guests. Post-COVID protocols have increased cleaning costs. Guest contribution to cleaning is $60 per stay.

Refundable damage deposit, held by Airbnb, is $250 per stay.

Other things to note
As I don't live on the island full time, I can't be there to arrange breakfast for you I'm afraid, so the rate is for self-contained accommodation only - including linen, towels etc. There are usually dry goods, tea, coffee, sugar etc in the kitchen pantry or in the canisters on the bench.

Beauty Point is an excellent place to relax and recharge, with all of the town's amenities and attractions a short walk or drive from Beachside's front door.

- Learn about our natural environment at Seahorse World and Platypus House
- Indulge in delicious chocolates at Anver’s Chocolates on the wharf
- Discover history at the Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre
- Take long walks along Bass Strait on the white expanse of Greens Beach
- Enjoy evening BBQs across the road on the river
- Fishing and boating from Beauty Point wharf or marina
- All of the attractions of Launceston such as Cataract Gorge, QV Museum & Art Gallery, Stillwater, Penny Royal and the West Tamar Wetlands
- Farmers and collectibles markets in Launceston, Exeter and Evandale
- Day trips to both the east and the west of northern Tasmania. Latrobe, Deloraine, Sheffield, Devonport, Georgetown & Low Head, Bridport are all lovely drives through farmland and forests.

As a guest, I'm fastidious and very respectful; appreciating the same in my guests when hosting. I'm a remote host, so I understand what it takes to share your property with holiday-makers you don't know while communicating regularly and openly enough to ensure all are well-informed, comfortable and feel absolutely welcome. As a host, I really do love sharing Beachside with guests from all over the world. She is such a special home in a fabulous location.
