About this listing
We are a professional couple in our 30s and we have an extra apartment in our brownstone building that we would love to sublet on a nightly, weekly, or monthly basis. We know how hard it is to find clean, nice, and reasonably priced accommodations as a visitor to our city. What you see in the pictures and listing here is what you get! Since we live in the building we are available 24/7 should you need any help or have any questions.
The fully furnished and newly renovated apartment is located on the third floor, with bamboo floors, stainless steel appliances (dishwasher!), and all the amenities you could hope for. It is a completely private apartment. The living room windows have southern exposure, looking onto the street, while the bedroom windows look onto the very quiet and peaceful backyard. There is a shared luxury washer/dryer in the basement and the kitchen is fully stocked and ready for cooking.
The bedroom has one brand new queen-sized bed. The living has a pull-out queen size sleeper sofa. There are also two extra twin air mattresses available if needed.
If you are traveling with a child, pack n' play, blankets, toys, and books can be provided.
Hair dryer, curling iron, iron/ironing board, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, CD player/radio, linens, and towels all included.
We are in a very safe neighborhood, only 10 blocks North from Central Park, and a short walk to the A,B,C,D,2,3 subway lines. You can be in midtown Manhattan in about 15 minutes on the express trains!
Some landmarks around the area include:
Studio Museum of Harlem
The Harlem School of the Arts
Mount Morris Park Historic District
Museum of the City of New York
We are also close to many amazing restaurants and great nightlife. The grocery store is only three blocks away. A guidebook with area maps and take-out menus will be provided, plus free high-speed WiFi. Parking in the the neighborhood is free and relatively easy.
We hope you will enjoy our beautiful building and residential neighborhood as much as we do!!
Note: Absolutely no smoking allowed indoors.
All we expect is common courtesy and that you treat our space as you would your own. Relax and enjoy yourself without wrecking anything! No smoking is allowed indoors.
We can be very flexible with check in and check out as long as it's not in the middle of the night.
2 Air Mattresses available should you need a little extra space besides the bed and pullout sofa.
We enjoyed our time at Larah's gorgeous brownstone. We were able to walk to college tours at Princeton and Barnard easily; enjoy some great restaurants in the neighborhood; and catch the subway for days of touring (using maps and guides we found in the rental). On-street parking was a bonus, and we were able to use some staples in the pantry left by previous guests (thank you, random strangers!).
My family of four (including two teens) was happy to have room to spread out in NYC. Because we stacked this visit with one to DC during a heat wave, it was also fabulous to be able to do laundry.
Larah and her family are friendly and charming -- we'd definitely stay again.
As a family of four, we were able to comfortably move around and had everything we needed to make for a great stay. Our daughters, age 9 and 11, shared the fold out queen size bed in the living room. The bathroom was in the hallway, so they could access it without coming into our bedroom in the middle of the night or early in the morning. Also, if we woke up early or if they woke up early we were far enough apart that we did not disrupt one another until we were ready to get going. The kitchen was ready to go and many former guests had left lots of nonperishable groceries which were ours for the taking. We were gone from sun up to sun down. The subway station was about a five block walk and was very convenient and easy to get to. We felt safe at night walking home from the subway. Also, we were able to get parking on the street about 20 feet away from the front door and not move our car again until we left. When we get back to New York, we hope that this space will be available and we will definitely recommend it to friends.
Great place to stay in NYC! Larah was helpful and quick to respond. The apt was just as described! We had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay in this modern Harlem apartment! We'll definitely add it to our list of options for lodging when we go back to NYC!
Appart très lumineux, calme, propre et parfaitement équipé... Aux portes d'Harlem, quartier animé et proche du métro et de Central Park.
J'ai beaucoup apprécié le fait que la cuisine soit largement dotée de son épicerie.
Bonne adresse à New York
The apartment was just as advertised in a safe neighborhood with plenty of restaurants nearby. Front living room was a little noisy at night but the bedroom was very quiet and comfortable. Hosts had everything we needed including suggestions for nearby shopping and eating with helpful maps and directions. Kitchen furnished with all the needs for cooking meals at home. Very much enjoyed our stay and our hosts were very kind and helpful.
Larah and her family are really nice. The apartment is nicely decorated and furnished, my mom even doesn't want to go back to our own home.
Appartement très bien situé, à 5 minutes à pieds du métro (station 125 street). Très confortable, calme et pratique. Parfait pour 4 personnes. Merci à larah pour ses conseils
About the Host, Larah
Originally from upstate New York, now living in the heart of NYC with my husband and two babies. Love traveling, reading the New Yorker, music, and keeping fit. Adore the many many foods available in the city and can't resist a well-made cocktail. Can't wait to meet all of the interesting people passing through our place!
