The Space

We are a professional couple in our 30s and we have an extra apartment in our brownstone building that we would love to sublet on a nightly, weekly, or monthly basis. We know how hard it is to find clean, nice, and reasonably priced accommodations as a visitor to our city. What you see in the pictures and listing here is what you get! Since we live in the building we are available 24/7 should you need any help or have any questions.

The fully furnished and newly renovated apartment is located on the third floor, with bamboo floors, stainless steel appliances (dishwasher!), and all the amenities you could hope for. It is a completely private apartment. The living room windows have southern exposure, looking onto the street, while the bedroom windows look onto the very quiet and peaceful backyard. There is a shared luxury washer/dryer in the basement and the kitchen is fully stocked and ready for cooking.

The bedroom has one brand new queen-sized bed. The living has a pull-out queen size sleeper sofa. There are also two extra twin air mattresses available if needed.

If you are traveling with a child, pack n' play, blankets, toys, and books can be provided.

Hair dryer, curling iron, iron/ironing board, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, CD player/radio, linens, and towels all included.

We are in a very safe neighborhood, only 10 blocks North from Central Park, and a short walk to the A,B,C,D,2,3 subway lines. You can be in midtown Manhattan in about 15 minutes on the express trains!

Some landmarks around the area include:
Apollo Theater
Studio Museum of Harlem
Cotton Club
The Harlem School of the Arts
Minton's Playhouse
Morningside Park
Mount Morris Park Historic District
Museum of the City of New York

We are also close to many amazing restaurants and great nightlife. The grocery store is only three blocks away. A guidebook with area maps and take-out menus will be provided, plus free high-speed WiFi. Parking in the the neighborhood is free and relatively easy.

We hope you will enjoy our beautiful building and residential neighborhood as much as we do!!

Note: Absolutely no smoking allowed indoors.

  • The apartment was very nice. It was clean and everything we needed worked fine, including the all-important wifi. Larah's courteous father was available to let us in and show us around the apartment. Larah was also available on the phone and was generally very responsive. It was hot outside for our visit (July 3-5) and the air-conditioning could maybe have been a little better in the living room area.

  • Pretty apartment. Spacious. Air con effective and necessary. Lots of useful equipment in the apartment. Comfy bed and sofa bed. Lara very helpful as were all her family who live in building. We loved staying in Harlem. It was very easy to get in and out of downtown Manhattan on the express train (A or C blue line - $2.50 each way). Station was 5 minutes walk from the apartment. We felt very safe. Variety of restaurants and shops nearby. We had a wonderful 4 day break in New York-thank you Larah.

  • Our experience with the host - Larah was excellent. Larah was waiting for us and made us feel very welcome. The apartment was very clean, modern and equipped with everything we needed. The bed was extremely comfortable too!

  • Stayed at Larah's apartment for 5 nights and it was great! The subways are a 10 minute walk on main streets so that was convenient. It's not in the center of NYC's hustle and bustle but it's definitely a lovely place to call home away from home. I had to use the kitchen a lot for medical reasons and it's just superb! Very clean and tidy and well stocked with cooking essentials!

  • Larah and her family were great hosts. The place is nice and cozy and really close to subway stations and bus stops. I would definitely stay at this place again.

  • This was our first time using AirBNB. I will definitely be back. The apartment was even better in person than the pictures showed. It is spacious, clean, and comfortable. It is closely located to subways and stores. Our plane arrived over 30 minutes early and we were still able to get in right away. All of our questions were answered right away. Larah is there if you need anything, but you still have all of the privacy that you want.

If you want a true NY experience, I highly suggest this place. You get all of the comforts of home while visiting NYC. It is also very nicely priced.

  • We stayed at Larah`s apartment over a months. They were the most amazing hosts we ever had. Helpful in every situation. The apartment is at least as nice as it looks on the pictures … spacious, light and very well equipped. We highly recommend this apartment and we will definitely return when we have to got to NY again.

  • Possibly the nicest Airbnb we've ever had. The apartment is clean, quiet, and extremely well (and tastefully) appointed. Larah and her family are friendly, helpful, and always available. Wonderful neighborhood, very close to local and express subway trains. Great people, great place. Would love to stay here again.

  • Larah was a great host. The apartment was everything as stated on the Airbnb website. There was not a detail missed. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was very well appointed with all the necessities and more. The apartment had plenty of natural light and we could sit at the table and watch the world go by in the street below. Larah was happy to help in any way if required. The area is quiet and within easy distance of the subway. Supermarkets and eateries handy. We were very pleased with everything and found it an ideal place to stay for the two weeks we were in New York. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay.

  • I have no hesitation in recommending this great apartment in a great location. A few short blocks to 125th street subway where all express trains stop. Bus stops at either end of street. One down 5th ave the other down 8th ave. you can get anywhere in Manhattan very easily. Many restaurants and a great supermarket are a short stroll away. The street is very pretty and very quiet. So sleeping in is achievable:). An easy walk through morningside park to Columbia and all that area offers. 11 short blocks to Central Park too. The apartment has great heating, abundant hot water and a kitchen with all you could possibly need whilst on holidays. The basement laundry is a bonus especially for long stays, we were there three weeks. Harlem is a destination too. Great history, food and shops. The Harlem museum is a "to do". We loved our stay.

Originally from upstate New York, now living in the heart of NYC with my husband and two babies. Love traveling, reading the New Yorker, music, and keeping fit. Adore the many many foods available in the city and can't resist a well-made cocktail. Can't wait to meet all of the interesting people passing through our place!
