The Space

Coming to Paris for a visit? Rent our beautifully furnished apartment by the day, week, or month.

Please read our reviews to see how much people love staying here. And feel free to send me a message with any questions about the apartment, the neighborhood, or Paris in general.

The apartment is fully (and nicely) equipped, and perfect for a single person or couple. We provide sheets, towels, and just about everything you need. Come with just your suitcase.

We can also provide a folding travel crib if you have an infant. (No more than two adults and one infant, please.)

The "Haussmannian-style" building (authentic Paris style) dates from 1850 and is in a great location, very close to the city center, but on a quiet residential street. Click on the "guidebook" link to read about neighborhood restaurants and sites.

Place de la Bastille: 10 mintes walk
Père Lachaise cemetery: 5 minutes walk
The Marais: 10 minutes walk
The Louvre: 15 minutes direct bus
The Eiffel Tower: 15 minutes direct metro
The Champs-Elysées: 12 minutes direct metro

The apartment is 35m2 and very nicely arranged (no lost space) with a bedroom and a salon (living room), a separate kitchen, and separate w/c (toilet room) and bathroom with full tub. There are windows in every room and lots of light. It is not your typical sparsely furnished Paris apartment. Our place is very nicely decorated and furnished. It is perfect for a single person or couple.

This is strictly a NON-SMOKING apartment.

- Nicely furnished
- Sofa (NOT a sofa-bed)
- Bookshelves
- Large Flat-screen TV
- Wifi ADSL Internet
- House phone with free calls to many countries including the USA

complete with...
- dishwasher
- clothes washer/dryer
- fridge
- stove/oven
- Lots of extra storage space

The bedroom has a super-comfortable 140x190cm (double) bed and huge amounts of closet/storage space (very unusual for Paris!) Sheets and towels are provided.

Full-size bathtub with hand-shower. Sink with lighted mirror. Lots of towel racks and storage. Good water pressure and plenty of hot water.

It is on the 5th floor (IMPORTANT: there is no elevator!) but is high enough to get lots of light. It is on a small courtyard off the street, so there is virtually no street noise.

Live like a real Parisian. The location is very central, between Place de la Bastille and Place de la République, just off the Place Léon Blum.

The closest métro station is "Voltaire" which is one block away. Just down the street is the beautiful Père Lachaise cemetery and we are a 10 minute walk from the Marais district (in one direction) and 10 minutes (in the other direction) from the Oberkampf area (with great bars and cafés).

Just 1/2 block away, there are the small shops where we do our daily shopping (boulangerie, cheese shop, butcher, fruits/veggies, etc.), and there are two large supermarkets on the Place Léon Blum, one block away.

The apartment is thoroughly cleaned by a professional before and after each stay. Sheets and towels are washed with hypoallergenic, environmentally friendly detergent. The apartment is fully prepared for you on your arrival, ready for you to "move in" with just a suitcase. There is an iron and ironing board for your use. We make every effort to minimize waste and recycle.

There is a multi-function printer available in the apartment and we can also provide you with a pay-as-you-go mobile phone that you can use during your stay.

LGBT friendly.

Please contact me with any questions - I will respond quickly. My goal is to make your stay in Paris as comfortable as possible.

Guest Access

This is a full, private apartment for our guests - it is not a share. You will have complete access to the apartment. There is a bedroom, living room, full kitchen, bathroom with tub, and separate toilet room. You will have your own set of keys and can come and go as you please.

Interaction with Guests

I strive to provide all our guests with excellent service and responsiveness. I send all guests a "Welcome Booklet" that includes complete information about the apartment as well as a neighborhood guide with restaurant and shopping recommendations and points of interest. While I don't live in Paris anymore, we have a local apartment manager who will meet you, show you the apartment, answer any questions you have, and give you the keys.

The Neighborhood

The 11th arrondissement is an ideal location to base yourself in Paris. It's very central but off the tourist track, so you can get to all the sights quickly but you are in a very residential, authentic Parisian neighborhood.

There are many small food shops (butcher, charcuterie, cheese shop, wine shop, bakery, etc.) and two large supermarkets just down the street, so shopping is quick and easy.

I lived in this neighborhood for more than 14 years, and my wife was born and raised here. And if you like authentic, local cuisine, the neighborhood is one of the few in Paris that still has many small bistros - some are really just holes in the wall, but that have been around for 100+ years and are well off the tourist track. I've included information about our favorites in the "Welcome Document" that I send to each of our guests once a booking is made.

Getting Around

The entrance to the "Voltaire" metro station (line 9) is just down the street from the apartment, and there are many bus lines also. So you can get anywhere in Paris quickly and easily. I'm happy to answer any transportation questions you may have to help make your stay as pleasant as possible!

Other Things to Note

Once your booking is finalized, I will send you our detailed "Welcome Document" via email that includes lots of information about the apartment and the neighborhood.

Please feel free to ask me any questions about the apartment, the neighborhood, or Paris in general. I am American and lived in Paris for more than 14 years (and my wife is Parisian), and I am happy to help make your stay fantastic.

House Rules

In general, please treat our apartment the way you would treat your own home.

For the comfort of future guests, we insist on a strict no smoking policy. Please do not smoke in the apartment, even out the windows. Please go out on the street to smoke.

The apartment will be professionally cleaned before your arrival and after your departure, but we ask that you ensure the apartment is tidy before you leave.

Please notify us if there are any problems with the apartment including plumbing, lighting, windows, leaks, etc.

Please replace anything you use, such as kitchen items and cleaning products. Please replace anything you break. If, for some reason, you cannot replace something, please let us know so that we can replace it for the next guests.

An important note: The wooden floors transmit noise very effectively to the apartment below and the 4th floor neighbor has complained about noise. Please keep all noise to a minimum, especially between 10pm and 8am.

We recommend strongly that you take your shoes off when inside the apartment -- this reduces noise substantially and is also much more hygienic (Paris streets are notoriously filthy!).

Most importantly, have a great stay!
