CALENDAR AVAILABILITY IS NOT ALWAYS AS ACCURATE AS I WOULD LIKE AS OUR FAMILY SCHEDULES SEEM TO CHANGE OFTEN.
Tell us please, when inquiring, how many of you there are adults/ children and gender. This is important only to plan for our own children who may or may not be staying with us also...(There is plenty of room for everyone!)
Please no unauthorized guests....
Thank you for your interest...
Our house is open for you to enjoy, minus our own private rooms. We welcome you to our home.
Interaction with Guests
Interaction is up to you. We are glad to give tips and pointers and send you on your way...or we can say nothing at all... Let us know what you would like...
The historic homes and architectural details are quite nice here. It is truly one of the last places left where you can get a city-side home with lots of space and detail for almost nothing. Of course, the neighborhood is in transition and a bit of common sense and good judgement goes a long way.
NOTE: We love our house and our location. For us, everything is just a short drive away. We have never had a problem living here, but you can see some transient dicey people. As in any city, know your environment.
We are south of and less than two miles from the city center. This translates to about a 30 minute walk, a fifteen minute bus-ride, or a ten minute drive into the city. Parking in the city is abundant and inexpensive with many options available.
There is a bus route on each end of the street.
We always recommend the #20 into the city on the Elmwood Avenue side which will take you directly to Kennedy Plaza.
There is also the new "R" line express into the city, but this stop is a longer walk from the house.
A good local landmark to start your day would be the Knight Memorial Library on Elmwood Avenue.
No smoking anywhere on site please.
We have an alarm and like to keep the house locked and alarmed when no one is home. We will give you a key and personal code on your arrival and show you how it works...
If you have a car, please make your keys available as the overnight parking is in Tandem.
Please no unauthorized guests while you are staying with us...
We are typically flexible with check-in and check-out...
HOWEVER...the most ideal check-in would be after 4:30pm M-F. Please remember we work during the week and late night check-ins make us grumpy... (still lovable, but grumpy)
Weekends are usually much more flexible.
Geoff and Chris were great hosts. They were very informative and welcoming. It felt like it was important to them that we have a nice trip visiting their city--which we did. One reason we picked an AirBnB over a hotel was kitchen access. Geoff and Chris opened their kitchen up to us allowing us to us all the little items--spices, oil, butter--that would have been too cumbersome to bring with us. We would recommend staying with them to others.
This was a wonderful place to stay - Geoff and Chris are the perfect hosts, constantly trying to make sure you have a good stay even from before you arrive, and were really sociable and interesting to chat to in the evenings. The house is beautiful and very convenient for the centre of town (I walked in most days). The cats are friendly and well behaved and easy to avoid/keep out of your room if you're not a fan of animals. This was a lovely place to stay - I ended up feeling like an old friend rather than a paying guest.
We kept in good communication with our hosts, Chris & Geoff which made the introduction to our trip very easy. These guys are seriously super hosts! They made us feel incredibly comfortable. They were considerate, generous, and friendly. Above all else, they cracked us up. They are really funny and easy going people. Both hosts knew a lot about the city when it came to navigating or carefully selecting the best restaurants. The house was beautiful and it was a perfect location for us. An uber cost us only $5 to the convention center which we were at daily for our 4 night stay. Our bedroom was lovely. Nice light, pleasant paintings, The bed very comfortable. My boyfriend and I slept great. It felt like we were staying at a relatives house which was a really nice surprise. The 2 kitties that live there too are wonderful and give so much love. You can pick them both up and snuggle. Since their brothers they are side by side at all times. They're adorable and helped fill in the gap of me missing my own cat back home. I can't stop writing, we had a fantastic stay! We hope to cross paths again, and if we are in Providence we will definitely stay with Chris and Geoff again.
My boyfriend and I are hosts ourselves. Chris and Geoff inspired us to be better hosts.
I left Providence with 2 new friends.
I have never felt more comfortable staying in a hotel -or even a friends home.
If you want to relax in a clean, safe, hospitable atmosphere look no further. If you want the inside scoop on restaurants and fun in the area ask Gigi. He's in on par with any concierge in the area.
I normally stay at an airbnb when I travel for work. The main reason is the value. But G & C made me realize that staying at an airbnb can be a relaxing experience as well.
I couldn't be more pleased.
Shelter from the storm!! These guys are great. We drove in at the onset of blizzard, and before we even had time to worry about how we would feed ourselves the next day, they came in out of the whirling snow, laden with groceries. They started cooking and took care of us as if we were old pals. And now we are! The house is large and lovely, the bed is very comfortable, the cats are delightful, the fire was cozy. And conversation was abundant, yet privacy plentiful--and I could go on. Particularly, we were invited to make ourselves at home, and their hospitality was such that we genuinely felt natural and at ease throughout our stay. My only complaint is that we had to leave too soon. Heartily recommended to anyone who wants to know what Airbnb is all about.
I was fortunate enough to stay with Geoff and Chris for an entire month. They have a very nice home and do a great job making you feel welcome. They catered well to my busy schedule and even gave me a a couple warm meals when I didn't have the time to make my own. They are very close to downtown providence or the federal hill area (less than a 15 min drive to either). I would highly recommend them as hosts!!
Geoff and Chris were absolutely amazing - not only were they friendly and overly hospitable, but they also helped us find things to do in and around Providence. The house, as the pictures show, is beautiful and very comfortable. We were only about a 5 minute drive from downtown.
We are a gay couple with three girls. (Ages 13,16, and 20) who visit with us every other weekend. We tend to be over-cautious and try to keep only the days available that the girls are NOT staying with us.
The available dates are much more flexible in the summer vacation months as we can always swap the days to meet our (and your) schedule. For that reason, It is always better for us to reserve with us as many days in advance as possible.
We have two beautiful cats named Illy and Bustelo. They are a handful, but a lovable handful.
We like to travel and meet new people. I lived in Italy for five years and we return as often as possible. I would look forward to challenging my rusty Language skills.
I (Geoff) am currently working as a consultant for a few local architecture firms and my partner (Chris) works as a Program Manager for developmentally delayed adults.
We enjoy Providence and our neighborhood of Elmwood. We like to show it off to family and friends.
