Five-bedroom house in a town in the Loire Valley 25kms WEST of Tours.
Langeais has a railway station, several restaurants and cafes and a chateau, all five minutes walk away.
Town has a great ambience, and there are many historic chateaux within 20 kms, including Villandry, Azay, Chinon and Usse.
House has English and French satellite TV and breakfast is included in the price of 60 euro per night. Price is 50 euro a night for lets of a week or longer from October to March.
Nestling between the forest and the Loire, backing onto a hillside peppered with troglodyte homes, the town of Langeais is at a cross-roads between the Châteaux trail and the 'route des vins." A crossing point over the Loire with an historic bridge, Langeais is popular both for the beauty of its landscapes and for its fine heritage.
A prestigious 15th century château, in which the union between Charles VIII and Anne of Brittany was sealed in 1491, makes Langeais a vital tourist attraction in the Loire Valley. This mediaeval fortress holds many marvels: one of the oldest square keeps in France, a working drawbridge, and a superb collection of tapestries and furniture.
We have been featured on TV in the UK, US, Australia, Canada and Spain as well as on California radio stations. Also in the UK national and regional press. Word gets around.
'' Fun" B&B is a right name for this place. Patrick and Sean are very social minded and constantly in charge of keeping you amused and satisfied. A very pleasant place to stay, it is almost impossible to avoid the guests, as the hosts introduce you right on the spot to the others. A special B&B for people who want to meet people. We really enjoyed it all!

Nuestra experiencia ha sido muy buena. La casa es preciosa, y muy tranquila. Pasamos una noche muy divertida charlando en el jardín. El desayuno estaba muy rico. Thank you very much shaun and sue, hope to see you soon! Pascal y María
Patrick and Shaun run a very nice BnB. they had by mistake overbooked the rooms the day we were to arrive, but came up with a solution to ensure my brother, parents and myself were accommodated at the BnB.
We loved Langeais and this is a great b&b. Shaun is a great host and makes you feel very welcome. We were lucky to have the detached room at the top of the property which is very private and is relatively self contained. We thoroughly recommend the dinner that Shaun cooks as it is great way to meet other guests and it was delicious. This b&b has great gardens to relax in and enjoy the sunshine which luckily came out during our stay
By some miracle, this very popular place had a cancellation affording us one of the best stays of our three month trip through Europe. (Stop reading NOW, and if it is available, grab it!)
Alternately, read through the rave reviews all of which we second: great linens, wine, genuine hospitality, perfect location for exploring the Loire West of Toulouse, more wine, great dogs, interesting conversations with other guests, and....did I mention wine? None of the good reviews, however, will quite prepare you for the experience of staying in Shaun's home (and, hello, Patrick, hope to meet you, too, someday when you come to NYC).
Don't treat it like a hotel. Treat it as a place where you can relax, wander, eat well, and make friends with other guests. If you're lucky, Shaun will offer a dinner while you're there.
Shaun is a blast -- funny, charming, catty. Most important, he will go way out of his way to make sure you're comfortable. Watch a toned down version of these guys on the French countryside episode of "Four in a Bed" but before you do....grab this place NOW!
Très belle chambre (confort, propreté & espace) et très bon accueil. À recommander.
Shaun greeted us us with a glass of wine. We knew right then that this was going to be a good place to stay. He made us feel at home and helped carry our luggage up to our beautiful room. Shaun was always willing to help us so that our stay would be memorable. The breakfast was outstanding. Our only regret was that we could only stay one night because they were fully booked. We will have to make sure we book well in advance next time we come. Thanks Shaun for making our stay so enjoyable. Michael and Alison. L
Shaun was a wonderful convivial host and we had a unique experience staying at his house. We stayed in a separate unit steps away from the main house, we called it the love shack, and he constantly reminded us to come down, not just for breakfast but at night where he served wine and good fun conversation. We were also fortunate to be there with other guests with a great sense of humour and we actually were looking forward to coming "home" after great dinners... walking distance right in the town. A big plus when you travel most of the day to too many chateaus...
The location Langeais and the town itself are just perfect to explore this region!
And the bed was comfortable.
Patrick and Shaun are wonderful hosts: friendly, helpful, and humorous. We enjoyed our stay very much. The room is nice with private wash room. Parking is also available in the yard. We highly recommend this lovely BnB. Its location is indeed great as a base to explore the Loire valley.
We recommend these hosts unreservedly. Not only are the linens and mattress fantastic, bathroom completely fitted and imaculate, but the accomodation is actually better than the photos and exceeded our expectations. Due to traffic delays, we were forced to arrive in the middle of the night. Sean waited up with wine and congenial conversation into the early hours of the morning (though we suspect he was exhausted and up way past his bedtime to play the host with the most). He was full of funny stories and sage advice and was the highlight of our visit--we regretted leaving him after our late and luxurious breakfast to tour the castle which he gave us plenty of information and helpful advice about. We brought our little dog whom he dogsat while we visited the village and we wished we had planned to stay another several days. We will definitely go back to see Sean and Patrick and their 4 star accomodations--never mind Langeais!
