The Space

This is the first of our 3 guest rooms. We have 3 doubles available. Plus we also have 2 camp beds with proper mattresses on them if they are needed.

London is an amazing place, you've got music, art, sightseeing, sports, theatres, restaurants - you've got it all!

BUT it can be overcrowded, loud and stressful.

If you want to see London but don't want to stay there overnight, and would rather stay in the beautiful British countryside (50 minutes by train to central London), then come and stay with us!

We are surrounded by green fields, we have a huge garden, a swimming pool, 2 mountain bikes which you can use, you'll love the area, there's plenty to do.

We serve fresh breakfast to all our guests with a choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast, jam or bacon, eggs & baked beans. You can use the breakfast room during the day, we have free tea and coffee available. You can use this room to relax and get warm by the aga.

The rooms at Rookery Hill Farm are a mix of classic and modern, they are clean, warm and cosy. all rooms have windows with green views and all rooms have free wireless internet connection.

We have two bathrooms, one for our guests and one for ourselves.

The train station is less than 10 minutes away by car (we will pick you up and drop you off), from which you can get to London in 50 minutes or to Brighton in 80 minutes. Gatwick Airport is only 20 minutes away. If you are coming by car we are 15 minutes away from the M25 and have plenty of parking space.

The Surrey Hills is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offers endless opportunities for walks & hikes, mountain biking, as well as visits to local pubs and restaurants and picturesque local villages.
The many attractions nearby include famous country house Polesdon Lacey, the Chessington World of Adventures, Denbies Wine Estate and RHS Wisley Gardens, and a little further away are Henry VIII's palace Hampton Court and Thorpe Park.

If you need any help planning your trips, maps or advice we will gladly help out, but if you want to be left alone, then that's fine as well. We don't intrude.
So if you want to visit London, on day trips, if you want to see Brighton, but would rather stay outside of the city, then Rookery Hill Farm is the place for you.

If you are more than 2 people, you will need to book the other guest rooms too. Click on my profile photo to see other rooms.

Getting to and from the airport:

Gatwick airport: It's very easy to get to Dorking from Gatwick airport, you can get a direct train from Gatwick to Dorking Deepdene which is only 5 minutes from our house so I'll gladly pick you up from there. The journey will take 20 minutes. Alternatively you can get a taxi for about 40 pounds. If this doesn't suit your budget and you'd prefer that I pick you up and I have time, then I can pick you up for 25 pounds.

Heathrow airport: If you arrive at Heathrow airport, then you will need to go to one of the big London train stations, Waterloo or Victoria, you can get to either of these stations via tube, bus or train from Heathrow. Then from the train station you can get a direct 50 minute train to Dorking from where I can pick you up. Alternatively you can get a taxi to my house for about 60 pounds. If this doesn't suit your budget and you'd prefer that I pick you up and I have time, then I can pick you up for 35 pounds.

  • Rookery Hill Farm is a green and peaceful oasis set amongst the trees, a short distance from Dorking. Lukas was the perfect host, who warmly welcomed us & cooked a lovely breakfast each morning. My room was spacious, light and clean. There are plenty of walks nearby and the swimmimg pool was an added treat. I highly recommend a stay.

  • An excellent venue and host. A quiet, peaceful country refuge within easy reach of London and the South East.
Lukas was friendly, relaxed and attentive - the perfect host.
I would go out of my way to return again.

  • Lukas is a genuinely nice person. He is a great host, he cooked us breakfast, taught us croquet and was always nice. The accommodation was good, the pool was a little dirty (due to bugs and leaves) but we cleansed it a bit and swam in afterwards. It was fine resting in the countryside it was peaceful and quiet. There were some farm animals (We recommend that you visit his viking pig, Olaf it's very friendly) There was a ping pong table which we used a lot.
So over all we were utterly pleased with our stay. Lukas is a great guy and this is probably the most economical place you can stay at (it's a great value for your money). He lent us bikes so we could ride to Dorking which is fairly close (15min cycling time) and we played tennis there and dined at some restaurants.
It's a great place to stay! Thank you Lukas for being so nice :)
Kindest regards, Kristján Ingi (15 years old), Sindri Snær (19 years old) and Ásta Rósa (very very old)

  • What a great stay! Lukas was the most hospitable host ever, going out of his way to make my stay as pleasant as possible. His house is simply gorgeous with the fully functioning AGA in the kitchen making for such a homely experience. The bedroom was large, clean and full of unique furniture and the bed very comfortable. The surroundings was simply beautiful, situated up on the hill amongst trees and fields and also lots of animals. I have pleasant memories of sitting in his garden reading my book feeling relaxed. I can't recommend enough.

  • Me and my daughter had a lovely time staying with Lukas in his beautiful mansion surrounded by a lot of nature and really well managed garden. Lukas offered to my daughter to feed the pig Olaf. She was delighted and Lukas has been so friendly and helpful with both of us. Everything was clean. The property is surrounded by fields, and forests and has an enormous really well managed garden.
A perfect stay for both of us away from noise, pollution, but very accessible from London Centre or London Gatwick Airport.
I feel lucky I found this place...thanks to Lukas to maintain these very affordable prices, which are very cheap for what he has to offer...

  • Lukas was the perfect host and I cannot recommend him and his house enough. Perfect for the family, the kids loved feeding the pig and visiting the horses! Breakfast was cooked to order and absolutely delicious. The location is spot on for a rural English countryside experience a short hop from London. Spot on! Thanks again! :)

  • Felt very lucky to have found this place - quiet and authentic old farmhouse in the middle of spectacular countryside and set in beautiful grounds with a swimming pool! Lucas was a lovely and generous host and cooks a mean breakfast. Amazing value for money too. Would highly recommend to everyone.

We live near Dorking in a small village called Westcott. My grandfather used to run the farm here but my father didn't take that up, we're not a working farm any more but we now keep a few chickens, pigs, ducks and geese in the summer. Rookery Hill Farm, is a very quiet and peaceful place. As you can see on the map, we're surrounded by our own fields, woodland and lots of green. it's a really good place to relax. At Rookery Hill Farm we have 3 Guest rooms available to book. Come and visit us, we love having guests, it's great getting to know new people and different cultures. The area is perfect for cycling and hiking, lots of lovely little towns in the middle of nowhere, but still just 50 min to London by train. Just kick back relax and enjoy. Hope to see you soon. :)
