Getting to and from the airport:
Gatwick airport: It's very easy to get to Dorking from Gatwick airport, you can get a direct train from Gatwick to Dorking Deepdene which is only 5 minutes from our house so I'll gladly pick you up from there. The journey will take 20 minutes. Alternatively you can get a taxi for about 40 pounds. If this doesn't suit your budget and you'd prefer that I pick you up and I have time, then I can pick you up for 25 pounds.
Heathrow airport: If you arrive at Heathrow airport, then you will need to go to one of the big London train stations, Waterloo or Victoria, you can get to either of these stations via tube, bus or train from Heathrow. Then from the train station you can get a direct 50 minute train to Dorking from where I can pick you up. Alternatively you can get a taxi to my house for about 60 pounds. If this doesn't suit your budget and you'd prefer that I pick you up and I have time, then I can pick you up for 35 pounds.
Lukas is a very kind host, entertaining, discreet, polite and very very welcoming. The location is fantastic, surrounded by forests and nature, really a beautiful place. The house is charming and full of spots and things to watch and being inspired by. Discover yourself why! It's worth every single mile on the road you go trough to get there. Looking forward to be there again.
If you're looking for an escape from the city but still being close to the city, this is the place to go for! A charming house in absolutely beautiful surroundings, it was the perfect get-away for me. Lukas was extremely helpful, shared tips on what to do and see, picked me up and drove me to the nearest train station and made breakfast every morning, even when I had to leave quite early the morning I went back home. Thanks for sharing your awesome place, Lukas!
Staying at Lukas's place you feel at home and immediately welcome from the moment you arrive. The house, its surroundings and interior are stunningly beautiful, both stylish and homely at the same time. Lukas was attentive and kind, eminently hospitable and friendly. We loved everything about our 10 day stay, especially sitting in the cosy kitchen close to the Aga accompanied by a purring tabby, enjoying the eggs, blackberries, apples and figs from the farm and garden, and going on pleasant, undemanding country walks, meeting horses, pigs, cows and donkeys. Also pretty little villages and small towns nearby ... great for browsing in cute shops and having afternoon tea and cakes. This is the best of English countryside living, surprisingly so close to London. I will be recommending it to all my friends both in UK and Malaysia, and when they come, I will be jealous!
Staying at Lukas farm was the best thing I could ever done! This place is amazing, so peaceful and beautiful. The house is impressive, with lots of history. Lukas and his dad are the most amazing people. I've been travelling by myself, and I seriously felt I was visiting family or old friends! They took care of me, I know my family will be grateful for that. Thanks a lot for everything guys, and I will absolutely stay with you on my next trip!
I had such a wonderful time at Lukas' place! He was a great host! The countryside is beautiful and the house itself is a gem. Also, if you are the type who enjoys a nice hearty breakfast then this is without a doubt the place to be! Nothing bad to say. I highly recommend staying here!
My stay with Lukas at Rookery farm was delightful. He is a charming host and the farmhouse was an interesting period building. When fully renovated and restored it will be an even more fabulous destination. I look forward to returning.
We had a great stay with Lukas, the house is beautiful (even better than the pictures) and we had a good splash in the pool. We would have stayed for longer if we could!
Lukas was such a brilliant host at his lovely family home in Surrey. Everything was even better than we had hoped for and we had such a relaxing time at this beautiful and peaceful house in the countryside. The room and facilities were immaculate and so homely but with that extra touch of luxury in the form of a very comfy bed and a beautiful room with gorgeous and unique original art work everywhere. He helped us find mountain biking routes, recommended good local places to eat and visit and made us really lovely breakfasts! What a gem of a place to stay- we will be back! (P.S, the kitty cat was so friendly she tried to come home with us in the car!)
