Studio Apartment in Chicago

Apartment - Entire home/apt · S Blue Island Ave, Chicago, IL 60608, United States

The Space

Loft styled studio apartment located approximately 2.5 miles Southwest of downtown Chicago in the Pilsen/University Village neighborhood. The apartment is part of an impressive rehabilitation of a former cold storage building. The apartment has an 80 square foot balcony overlooking the city's Westside, great sunsets. Two busy sets of train tracks sit adjacent to the building making for a rather urban experience with a quite a bit of noise, so if you are a light sleeper you may want to take a pass. The apartment is very bright with floor to ceiling windows on the entire west side. The light is not blocked out with shades, it is welcomed in the apartment every morning. Minimum three night stay. Need two weeks advance notice to facilitate exchange of keys.

The apartment is located very close to Taylor Street, the University of Chicago at IL and UIC Halsted district.

Please note that there is no wifi/internet service. There is an older TV but without remote and the reception isn't very good. The trains can be noisy and the light always shines in because there are no blinds or curtains (but privacy exists as neighbors don't have a vantage point to look in), so please take this into consideration. There is an iPod docking station. One double bed.

  • Jonathan was a great host! His studio was literally perfect for our stay. It's small but has just the amount you need. Doesn't have tv or internet but we didnt need it since we were out exploring Chicago from day and night. Location was close to downtown which was very convenient. Thank you Jonathan!

  • We couldn't have asked for a better stay for our first time in Chicago. My husband and I were there for work but got to enjoy many of the wonderful things the city has to offer. Jonathan was not only graciously hospitable, opening his home to us like family - we felt completely comfortable there - but he was also accessible at any time we needed him to ask a question about food recommendations or anything else. Also, my husband is a bit of a clean freak, and Jon's accommodations GREATLY exceeded anything we could have asked for, even in a hotel! Thanks Jon!!

You guys were awesome and thank you for your kind words. I am a neat freak as well so your comments are fitting. Best, Jon.

  • My parents came to town to visit for a weekend and Jonathan's place was the perfect accommodations for them. Jonathan met me beforehand and allowed me to inspect the apartment which was very clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. My parents were both very happy. They plan on staying again for their next visit.

  • Our stay at Jon's apartment was perfect and exactly what my boyfriend and I were looking for for our trip to Chicago. We brought our bikes to Chicago which made it easy to get around and explore Chicago's scene from Jon's place. Jon was extremely accommodating; he mailed us the apartment keys well in advance, was available by phone at any moment, and gave us tips on where to park, eat, etc which made visiting chicago a breeze. Jon's place was exactly how he described it, except for the fact we could hardly hear the trains! We couldn't have asked for a better host! Thanks again Jon!

  • Jonathan's place was exactly what he described. It was small, but cozy, and perfect for two people. The location is a little gritty if you're not used to the city, but it was great for getting back and forth to downtown, and Jon was incredibly hospitable. He gave us some great advice for transportation as well as some good recommendations in the area.

We didn't need a TV or internet, since we spent most of our trip exploring the city, but this place was a nice little haven for us to return to each night. He was also incredibly understanding in getting us the keys, especially when our travel day took a turn for the worse.

    Thanks again Jon!

  • Fantastic place, Jonathan was very helpful - sent our keys plenty of time in advance. The place had a gorgeous view of the sunset. Bright and sunny in the morning - the perfect crash pad at night! Only unexpected thing was that it was a double bed - for some reason I had thought it was a queen, but it was TOTALLY COMFORTABLE! Just meant that my honey and I got to snuggle up a little closer. Thanks so much!

  • Jonathan was on point with everything! The location is convenient and all his details were perfect. Not too far from downtown... safe quiet community (minus the trains) =) ..........worth every penny!!

    Thank You!

  • Jonathan was very welcoming and couldn't be more hospitable! His apartment was clean and had everything we needed - exactly as described. Very organized and friendly arrangements. Not the quietest location with the trains as Jonathan states, and light too in the morning - but very nice apartment and handy for downtown. Recommended!

  • Perfectly simple studio apartment in Pilsen. The building has a dorm feel but the apartment is neat, clean, comfortable and well equipped. The view is striking above the train tracks and bring ear plugs if you are disturbed by noise. The trains do not run all the time but when they do, they are loud.

The bus to downtown in one block from the front door and takes about 20 min. Pilsen is a cool hood. Mostly Latin and sprinkled with hip bars, galleries and vintage clothing shops.

Jon is a very communicative and helpful host in getting things set up and providing information about the apartment and the area.

  • Jonathan was an excellent host and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay (towels, food, directions, etc). His apartment was very neat and clean. It was located right next to the bus stop which made transportation to the city very easy and affordable (10 minute bus ride). I would definitely stay here again!
