About this listing
An elegant studio apartment just steps from Ben Thanh Market, yet tucked away from the noisy streets of Saigon. Enjoy common areas on the ground floor and roof to hang out with local hosts, or other travelers, while having your own private self sustaining apartment. If you're looking for something more like home, come check us out!
This studio is located on the first floor (above ground level) of a new, well designed seven room house. There are stairs and an elevator , which will also offer access to an open air rooftop, and free laundry facilities!
You will have 24/7 self-access to the house and your studio apartment, no curfew. In addition to your private space, you also have access to our laundry facility as well as our full-kitchen. Want to do a group dinner? We're game...just let us know!
Oh, although the rooftop is a bit compact, it does make for a very nice and quiet place for a beer or two...with a beautiful view of the temple. First come first serve...but don't shoo other guests away! =)
NOTE: We will always be there in person for check-in and check-out.
Interaction with guests
There will almost always be someone around to field your questions about the city, and to help bridge you to the local culture. We promote social accommodation and try to offer something that hotels do not. If we have time we'd love to take you guys and show you around to some local flavors, but if we are too busy we have a wealth of nice recommendations for you. If ever you can not find someone, just shoot us a message and we have a whole team ready to help you out!
Just a hop skip and jump away from Ben Thanh Market, our location is extremely central, while being tucked away from from the noise and hussle bussle of Saigon's crazy streets :)
Our location is ideal for walking so we recommend you take advantage of it. Taxis are readily available for ~15k VND per km. Motorbike taxis are best when you're in a hurry. Those that with a local sim card and a smart phone should really check out Uber Vietnam. The fare is lower than taxi's and the service is more reliable and friendly. Also, the Ben Thanh city bus station is just a short walk away, right in front of Ben Thanh Market.
Other things to note
BRING A BOOK, SHARE A STORY...of your culture.
If you have a book about your culture, or about anything that you care about, that you would like to share with us and other travelers, you can leave them at Christina's. Hey, sharing is caring! =)
In additional, we offer an amazing Full-day Onetrip Motorcycle Adventure to the Cu Chi Tunnels. It's arguably the best way to experience the Cu Chi Tunnels. So be sure to ask us and reserve a spot ahead of time!
Lastly, we can organize a donation-based City Tour run by university students looking for cultural exchange opportunities with foreign travelers. It's wildly popular among our guests as it's better than most of the paid options out there. So let us know if you're interested.
Our #1 RULE is to treat our house as if it were your own house, or if your house resembles a college frat house, then try your grandmother's house. We'll take the grandmother risk any day!
So that was our only rule when we first opened up our home. Unfortunately, we did have a couple of people who we thought needed the following rules as well.
NO SMOKING inside the building. This is a no-brainer.
NO PROSTITUTION shall be tolerated. It's illegal in Vietnam and you will get robbed and we will report you to the police as well, so do everyone a favor and take this else where if this is why you're in Vietnam.
NO SHOES inside the house. We understand this can be an issue for some people, but we're trying to keep it clean for everyone so we cannot make exceptions since it will not be fair to the other guests.
NO NEGOTIATION on our price. We don't want to start this off with an awkward back-and-forth on pricing. Let's focus on your awesome experience instead!
MUST REGISTER all over-night visitors. This is the law but also a good rule to ensure everyone's safety. You will be completely responsible for the actions of all your guests as well as any damages that they caused, including from negligence, such as leaving the gate to our home unlocked or open.
NOT-A-HOTEL. We are not open to walk-in guests for a reason. We enjoy providing awesome experiences to guests visiting Vietnam and we strive to host guests who share our mission. So please do not treat our staff or our services like you would at a hotel. If you're looking for 24/7 room service where you can yell at the staffs for no reasons, we recommend that you stay home altogether. Otherwise, we look forward to meeting you and providing you with something different, more social, more responsible, more human, with quality and value where it counts, and hopefully better as a result.
HAVE RESPECT for others. All of our rules above are simply meant to encourage our guests to share a mutual respect towards each other and together build a better, more social and more responsible travel community.
CONSEQUENCES for breaking these rules can result from a request being declined and up to the offender(s) being asked to leave our property, nicely of course, in addition to compensation for losses or damages caused. We will have complete discretion on whether to provide a refund for the unused portion of the reservation. To date, we have not asked any guest to leave and we would prefer to keep it that way for a very long time.
A bit crazy all the way from South Africa representing Team Christina's. Come stay with us and we'll make sure you have the best experience possible in Vietnam!
