The apartment is cozily warm on sunny days in winter due to the full north windows (so warm you will need no heating when the sun is out), while cool and shaded in summer (heating and cooling are provided for when needed). I am gradually renovating, improving and redecorating (watch out for new pictures).

I prefer longer stays (one week minimum), also occasionally available for two to three months.

APOLOGIES IF I DON'T RESPOND IMMEDIATELY - I DO MY VERY BEST, BUT AM SOMETIMES IN REMOTE PLACES WITH COMMUNICATIONS CHALLENGES
The whole apartment is yours for AUD $119 per night and can accommodate up to 2 people (1 single or 1 couple - note: extra charge for second person).
The building is historic and iconic: visitors pay to see it during Melbourne's Open House celebration of significant architecture (it's a sell-out attraction).
I have lived in this building for eleven years and absolutely love it – it is my pleasure to share that enjoyment.
Interaction with Guests
Guests have the full run of my place. I am always available to provide information by phone or email unless I happen to be out of range, in which case I will leave someone else in charge who can be contacted anytime. I provide lots of information about St Kilda, Melbourne, what's on, and anything specific you're interested in - just ask.
St Kilda is world-famous and has a colourful history. The apartment is located right in the heart of St Kilda, close to everything the area has to offer.
The beach is right across the road and the area is famous for its cafés, bars and restaurants, the cake-shops of Acland St, music venues, theatres, seabaths and other sporting facilities and events.
Craft market held every Sunday nearby; regular farmers market in park right behind building; and summer-time night market very close. So much to enjoy!
St Kilda is incredibly well-connected to public transport, with a choice of two tram-lines a few minutes from the door - three on weekends! (and other tram lines within 15 minutes walk) - and bus-lines going in every direction. Ferry to Williamstown from St Kilda pier on weekends.
Secure off-street parking is provided.
Other Things to Note
I will need to sight your driver’s license or passport upon handover of the key. I require a security bond (AUD $200 for short-term stays, $500 for long-term stays) - to be returned in full upon sighting of the apartment clean and undamaged upon the return of the keys at the end of your stay.
No pets, and no smoking inside please.
Full, detailed house manual will be sent prior to your arrival. A few key points below:
No backpackers or party animals please - I value the respect of my lovely neighbours (who will make you very welcome if you say hello and behave nicely). No noisy or excessively drunken parties please. Entertaining is fine - I love to do that myself. But it is an apartment block, and I need to stay on good terms with my lovely neighbours.
The polished wooden floor needs to be treated with care as scratches show up easily.
Apartment to be left clean, as found on arrival. Excellent cleaner available during and/or at end of your stay, for additional fee.
I stayed at Di's St Kilda flat for 16 nights in May 2015 and it was a real home-from-home for me during my trip to Melbourne.
The flat is lovely and bright with moody views of the ever-changing Melbourne skyline and the lights of Luna Park. There are touches of Di's travels abroad around the flat and the bed is dangerously comfy. The balconies off both the living area and bedroom give a feeling of space and lightness. It was Autumn when I visited, but I imagine lounging in the hammock on a sunny day would be lovely.
Edgewater towers itself is an interesting building - it's rather imposing on the skyline but inside feels spacious, secure and characterful. I really liked (website hidden) Kilda itself is full of amazing coffee shops and brunch/lunch specialists. Trams go regularly from Luna Park into the city or towards Chapel Street - you can get a 96 from Southern Cross station to and from this stop, which goes past Albert Park and South Melbourne Market or the 16 towards Federation Square with stops at the Shrine of Remembrance and National Gallery of Victoria. So easy and much nicer than the London tube. Don't forget to keep your Myki card topped up - I saw quite a few people get 'busted'!
There are several supermarkets and pharmacies in easy walking distance of the flat but be warned - you might have to walk past the cake shops to get there! (Actually - you can get into Woolworths the back way by crossing the Peanut Reserve and entering via the car park).
The beach of course is right across the way - perfect for early morning runs or a trip along the pier to see the fairy penguins. Or hire a bike and go along the sea front towards Brighton Beach to see the colourful beach huts.
Di was travelling with work so sadly I couldn't meet her during my stay, but she was within easy reach by email and had a warm, approachable manner that made things simple. She left a comprehensive guide to the flat and local area, which were interesting and much appreciated.
Melbourne is such a lovely, quirky, welcoming place and Di's flat reflects this perfectly and provides a great base from which to explore. Would recommend staying here wholeheartedly.
Di was an amazing host and her place was clean, beautiful, light with good energies! If you're looking for a sanctuary in ST Kilda just by the beach with easy access to the city - Look no further! Thank's Di!
Although Di was not there at the time she made us feel very welcome via email and text messages.
We found her little apartment clean, warm and welcoming.
The position is great, close to public transport, supermarkets and lots of cafes and the wonderful St. Kilda beach.
The kitchen is small but has everything you need should you wish to cook your own meals.
Just be aware, the bed is a double, but is however, very comfortable with a good quality mattress.
Di has a beautiful apartment right in the middle of all the action. A short stroll to beach, café, tram, bars and Luna Park. She made us feel really welcome from start to finish. Highly recommend.
Staying at Di's apartment for over a month has been a great experience; and the most amazing way for me to start my new life in Melbourne, following my relocation from Greece.
The apartment was bright and welcoming and warm, despite the low winter temperatures. I absolutely loved waking up in its wonderful light and energy, with lovely views to the sea and the St Kilda Luna Park.
The location was ideal for a person like me who doesn't drive (very easy to go anywhere by public transportation, bike sharing point within 150 meters of the apartment), needs to feel secure and close to where things are happening. I enjoyed St Kilda so much that I finally chose to rent an apartment in the area.
Di's apartment was lovely, and so is Di. Always available (despite being overseas) to answer questions and assist me in every possible way, sweet and flexible, I can not thank her enough for sharing this special place that she has created.
I would love to stay here again and definitely recommend this place (and the wonderful host, who made me feel welcome right from the beginning); this is a special place, created with lots of love, good vibes and attention to detail.
Di's flat was absolutely lovely in all aspects.
It was our first time to Melbourne and therefore being in the heart of St Kilda, on the beach, was a massive plus for us. Near to all the action but very quiet still in the comfortable surroundings of a very homely flat. Personal highlight was the view to the beach and the natural light that seems to fill the flat all day long.
Di catered for all our needs without problems - much appreciated!
I will definitely consider staying here again should re visit Melbourne in the future.

About the Host, Di
I love life, love to travel, also love my home and to share it with other great people. Have travelled all my life, and am very fortunate to be able to do so frequently for work. I work internationally in a social/ community-oriented area, focusing on women's empowerment and gender equality. I also write. I am an avid reader, love movies and music (particularly singing), and have a wonderful circle of family and friends. I am very committed to yoga and meditation, and love a long meditative walk on the beach - easy where I live, as it is just across the road. Also love cooking (and eating). I love St Kilda, where I live, and it gives me great pleasure to share its joys with anyone who is interested. I enjoy connecting with other people, in my life in general, and as a host or guest.
