The space
This freestanding house was our primary residence for about 12 years. At 732 square feet, it's a little too big to be a true Tiny House, so we like to think of it as a Giant Tiny House! We've moved a block down the street, and now love to invite visitors to enjoy this space with exactly what you need, and nothing you don't.

One bedroom has a queen sized bed. The other has a twin bed as well as a desk and office chair. That's also where the router is where you can connect via ethernet if you want a wired connection to the internet for those critical Zoom meetings. (And of course, there's wifi accessible throughout the house.

The living room has a comfortable leather couch and a recliner, for enjoying a relaxing evening kept warm by the woodstove. (The space is not recommended for young children, because of the woodstove concern.)

The kitchen is fully stocked with what you need for cooking, and the kitchen table has an extra leaf that makes it the perfect size for 4.

The restroom is spacious, with plenty of storage for your toiletries. This is also where the full-size washer and dryer can be found.

The back yard has two sections, one fully fenced area is accessible via the back door (in the 2nd bedroom/office). Access from the front door will take you down the side yard to the garden (which doesn't look like much in the winter!).

(Note for pet owners: the back yard is fenced, but it’s not escape proof. You should have your dog in sight whenever they are out there. Feel free to shoot me a message if you want to check if the yard will work for your needs.)

Where you’ll be

Olympia, Washington, United States

The West side of Olympia is well known for its laid-back vibe. The co-op grocery store is a mile away, and the walk from here to there is through a lovely safe suburban neighborhood with little traffic and plenty of sidewalks.

Our little street is only two blocks long, and it's the last hold out in a well-gentrified neighborhood. Our neighbors are musicians and artists, nursing students, retired rock climbers, and families who live here especially for the highly-renowned school district. The street is quiet, though you might occasionally hear a marimba from the music repair shop our neighbor runs from his garage (only during the day though!).

We lived here for 12 years, and love all our neighbors, and the easy access to the rest of Olympia as well as the whole Olympia Peninsula.

My husband and I love it here in Olympia, and are so excited to host you. We're real folks, not a chain or agency, and our house here in Olympia was our primary residence for many years. We love the neighborhood, and we think you will too. We like to surf, wander, look at beautiful things, make music with friends on porches in the woods, and code up the perfect website. We also like to hang out at home, catch up on work that we got behind on while we were out surfing, bake delicious desserts, and nap a lot. Preston toys around with surfboard shaping; DeAnna is a fiber artist who spins, knits, dyes, and weaves with natural fibers. We've been accused of being hippies. We speak *very* minimal Spanish, and we would love an opportunity to practice our very weak Spanish skills on you. DeAnna used to be conversational in American Sign Language, and similarly loves opportunities to dust off her skills. Our life motto: When a door opens, walk through it and see what's there.
