We welcome you to stay in our home in Sinseol-dong, Seoul. Our house is approximately 100 years old and is built in the traditional Hanok style. Our house is not in a tourist district, but in a typical, traditional neighborhood in Seoul. Our house is for travelers who want to experience everyday life in Seoul with a more traditional flavor. Nowadays many of these homes have been torn down to make way for huge apartment complexes and mega-marts. Now you have a chance to experience a piece of history before it disappears forever.

We have a kitchen with many modern amenities such as an oven and a water purifier. In the living room, we have TV with cable and many movie download options, plus a huge Korean movie collection, all with English subtitles. Outside we have an open air courtyard where you can enjoy your meals or a beer after a long day of sightseeing.

We are located in Sinseol-dong, just 3 minutes from Sinseol-dong station which is on line 1 and an extension to line 2. Many buses, including the airport bus, also pass by our house. We are very convenient to reach from the airport by airport bus or by subway for those on a budget.

Sinseol-dong is located in a convenient location to reach many tourist attractions such as the Jongno district (5-10 mins by bus/subway), local flea markets (5-10 mins walking), traditional herbal markets (15 mins walking), shopping in Dongdaemun (20 mins walking/5 mins subway) and the Chonggyechon stream (10 mins walking). Plus there are many typical Korean restaurants and bars around our house if you're looking for a bite to eat.

About us: Sanghyun is a Korean and Jo-Anna is an American. Around the house we speak a mix of English and Korean, but we're both fluent in Korean and (website hidden)-Anna is also fluent in Spanish, and Sanghyun is proficient in Chinese (we really love languages). Sanghyun is our chef and whenever you are around for meal times, we welcome you to join us for a meal. Sanghyun cooks all kinds of food from Korean to Italian to many invented Asian fusion recipes. We've been hosting on Airbnb since November 2010 in our old home and we're excited to offer our new home on Airbnb and meet some more great guests! Also, Sanghyun makes Korean style rice wine, and beer at home. Don't miss the chance to try his home-made wine and beer!!!

**We Have:
*Hair drier/Hair straightener
*Water Purifier

Check In
  • Sanghyun & Jo-Anna were gracious, welcoming, and responsive hosts. Cozy room in a traditional house; very close to the metro and great location overall. It was not fancy but comfortable, and we shared some great conversations, Korean dramas, and beer. We were three women in our 20s and felt very safe in the neighborhood (and in Seoul in general). Would definitely recommend these hosts!

  • Sanghyun and Jo-Anna are very nice host. They stayed up late after midnight to wait for our arrival. They were very nice to share Sanghyun home cooked dish and home brewed beer. We enjoyed their company. The house is located at a very convinient location. There are a few interesting markets just a train stop away, you can even choose to walk there. It just take us 4 to 5 train stop to reach the some popular tourist attractions. The house is very nice, is a very nice experience.

  • Jo-Anna and Sang Hyun are very nice hosts. Their cooking is great, they are always willing to respond to any questions, make recommandations and give advises. They leave you to yourself but are available if needed.
The house is very cute, don't expect western style hotel accommodations, as this is a traditionnal home, it might seem rudimentary but is very clean, sleeping on the floor was surprisingly comfy and the bathroom had everything needed.
The neighborhood is safe, very well located near subway line and many buses stops. Easy to find local markets and interesting eateries.
I would totally come back if I return to (website hidden) you guys, I accidentaly stole a phone charger, do you want me to mail it back?

  • we couldn't have asked for better hosts than jo-anna and sanghyun. they are lovely, friendly people willing to go the extra mile to make sure your stay in seoul is memorable. we were lucky enough to be able to share a few drinks and meals with (website hidden)-anna also generously accompanied us to a korean jjimjilbang (sauna/spa) and showed us how to navigate the experience without making any social faux pas. the house has its own charm, and is close to the metro and several good coffee shops. vielen lieben dank!!

  • Very nice stay with Sanghyun (Jo-Anna was away), he was happy to have dinner with us (he cooked!) and chat about Korea and his travels to other countries. We drank some of his homebrewed beer, it was delicious. Very spacious house for Korea, comfortable bed, great pillows, full size towels, very good location close to the metro station. Thanks very much for having us!

    February 2014
  • Sanghyun was very accommodating and friendly. Unfortunately, we weren't able to see him much as he was quite busy. Regardless, the location was pretty convenient to the metro, and we enjoyed the traditional style of the house.

    February 2014
  • Sanghyun is a very nice guy, we had lots of fun talking with him. The house is also nice, traditional Korean house. It was a pleasure staying with Sanghyun. Unfortunately Jo-Anna was abroad when we stayed so we didn't meet her.

    January 2014
  • Sanghyun is an amazing host! He went out of his way to help us figure out sightseeing and places to eat in Seoul. He also cooked amazing food and brewed amazing beer that were beyond yummy! We loved the location since it was close to the subway line and not far from the Cheonggyecheon stream.
