The Space

The Stambouliote flat is the perfect way to discover and to visit Istanbul. To reach the heart of the greatest festivities the city has to offer, all you need to do is to go down the stairs ! It is in one of the most lively areas of Istanbul and yet located in a private courtyard insuring a calm and quiet environment.

It is in such a "spot" that wherever you are and wherever you may go, you will have to go through there.

For families, groups of friends or collegues, or a romantic escape, it offers all the comfort of a pleasant and spacious home.

A place which gives all the space to change your mind, to have a break, to get inspired and to rejuvenate.

A 3 bedroom flat of 135 sqm (approx 1450 sqf) with high ceilings, king size living room, in a Levantine building constructed in the late nineteenth under the Ottoman Empire period, right in the center of the historcal town, close to all major means of transportation... a site so «strategicly located» that a tower was built right there in 1348 to observe the city at the place of a headlight constructed in 507! The Galata tower is today a symbol of Istanbul and a major landmark. This is how central it is located.

You will have the apartment entirely for your own group. This is not a (website hidden) formula, it is a short term flat rental where we try our best to make your trip enjoyable with only good surprises, a month to 15 days prior to your arrival, you will receive a 10 page roadmap based on your arrival information with full instructions to get there and lots of useful information on the flat and the surroundings. End cleaning, several sets of keys , linen, baby bed and bath etc. are provided. You have better to do than to carry sheets, blankets and towels in your luggages and to worry about the cleaning the day you need to catch a plane.

  • Logement spacieux, calme et ayant beaucoup de charme. Localisation au coeur d'un quartier extrèmement vivant et proche des principaux lieux d'intérêt. Nous y avons été parfaitement accueilli par Sedat et son équipe.

  • It's a great place on a perfect spot! We were with a family of 7 and the accomadation was perfect. A lot of space and everything we needed. Located in the centre of Istanbul nearby public transport and shops. The price was very reasonable. We would love to come again. Thanks Sedat!

  • The organization from Sedat was very good and the information pretty precise and helpfull (how to get from the airport to the apartment etc.).

He always gave answer very fast.

Karen and Fatma, the two women on the spot, were very friendly.

The apartment was clean, pretty close to some bars and restaurants and the galata tower, but just the same quiet, quite big... just perfect.

We were 4 people but its also big enough for 6 people, or even for 8, if you aren't complicated.

  • Lovely older home, steps away from the tower, in a very convenient spot. Our group had to check in early and Sedat was very accommodating and gracious and allowed the group early check in. His documents on the house and the surrounding areas were very helpful, and Fatma was lovely as well. He was very quick in his responses, which was very much appreciated. We'd definitely recommend his home for you stay in Istanbul!

  • Sedat's place was very nice and cozy, and a great base for our travels in Istanbul. It is close by to Istiklal Street (which is a great pedestrian walkway) and is also walkable across the Galata Bridge, if you're looking for a nice little walk (even though Sedat provides transit cards that are easily refillable). There was plenty of space for the four of us to stay -- it could definitely fit eight people very comfortably. We also came while it was chilly, and the heaters worked well.

Sedat's upstairs neighbor, Karen, was also extremely nice and helpful. She even lent us some laundry detergent, after we couldn't find any small packs to do laundry in the nearby shops. Karen's originally from Canada, and she has impeccable English, so you always have someone there who can understand you!

It is not a fancy place -- no-frills -- but it is very much what we needed, since we wanted a base for all our Istanbul travels. Note that the main bathroom shower pressure was a bit high, so it did make the floor quite wet. Noise from the bathrooms can also transmit into the main room, since there are small gaps between the doors and the bathrooms (if that is a concern). If you don't like stairs, this might not be the place for you, since they are steep and you will be on the third floor. But for us, these were not issues at all. And overall, the cleanliness and spaciousness of the apartment overrides any of those small worries.

I would definitely recommend Sedat's place for someone to stay, and would come back if I were ever in Istanbul again!

  • We have had a wonderful time in Istanbul, it is a beautiful city! Sedat’s apartment was great, and its location near the Galata Tower is fantastic. The neighbourhood is lively and home to many nice restaurants, and with Sultanahmet, Taksim and the ferry to Asia within walking distance, the location is hard to beat. The apartment is situated on the second floor of an impressive building that was built by Jewesh families in the late nineteenth century. Once inside, the apartment is very conveniently set up, is spacious and ample daylight lights the rooms. We stayed with a total of nine people. Although we did not meet Sedat, he was a great host from distance. He has been very helpful throughout, we were provided public transportation cards, a Turkish cellphone and he gave us the right information for the airport transfers. Thank you Sedat, we most definitely recommend your place!!

  • The main advantage of the flat is the perfect location near Galata Tower and Istiklal Av. And there are lots of nice restaurants and cafes.
There is plenty of space for 6 to 8 people because the flat is quite large with a big living room and acceptable furniture. The kitchen is a bit simple and old. But who wants to cook extensive meals when there are so many cozy restaurants around?
The two bathrooms could need a modernization because they are really worn and the joints are black from mildow.
Anyway, we enjoyed our stay in Istanbul. Our arrival and leaving was perfectly organized. Everybody in the house was kind and nice.

    Response from Sedat:

    Hi Juergen,

Thank you for your feedback. Just FYI, the kitchen and the second bathroom were built with a complete renovation of the apartment in December 2011 so it is exactly 2 years old, not even and it was all perfect when I went there in November 2012. Anyway, I was planning a renovation for beginning of December 2013, I will anticipate this procedure thanks to you letting me know. Kind regards
