Laugardalur (10 min walk) (Hot Spring Valley) is a major centre for sports and recreation in the capital. In Laugardalur you will find the largest outdoor thermal pool in Reykjavik, Laugardalslaug, in which you can swim all year round. It is very hard to describe the experience of tip-toeing over frozen ground in your swimsuit and immersing yourself in gorgeous water that nature (and some ingenious Icelandic geothermal engineering) has thoughtfully heated to just the right temperature, but the number of returning visitors definitely suggests it’s worth trying.
Laugardalur also has free entry to our beautiful Botanical Garden, with woods, ponds and birdlife. Beneath the branches the lovely Café Flora is a hidden gem.
The Family Park and Zoo in Laugardalur is open all year. The Zoo includes most Icelandic animals, both wild and domesticated, from foxes, reindeer and seals to cattle, horses and sheep. In summer the Family Park offers many rides and play equipment for children of all ages. Outside the summer season the Family Park remains open as a play area.
At the edge of the Laugardalur valley, not far from Laugardalur Arena, is a strangely shaped, domed white building. It is known as the Reykjavik Art Museum’s Ásmundarsafn sculpture collection. This used to be the studio of Asmundur Sveinsson (phone number hidden)), a pioneer of Icelandic sculpture. In addition to his works exhibited inside the museum, a sculpture garden outside contains many of his monumental works.
Reebok Fitness & Supermarket is 5 minute walk away from the apartment.
Cleaning service in included.

There is no smoking inside, if you smoke, you can find an ashtray with lid on it outside that you can use.
if there is no one in the house to accept the key when you leave you can leave it on the kitchen table for me.
Our hosts were very accomodating and helpful about info to get around the city and country. The house is loacted a little ways out of the city center, but it's relatively easy to get around despite that. The room was comfortable and had what we needed!
Rosa and her husband were very friendly people and we felt really good at their place. We stayed in two rooms and they were comfortable, also the kitchen is well equipped.
The location is a little bit farther from the city centre, but the way between the places is quite straight and there were buses around, so it wasn't a problem.
Rosa and Petur are very friendly and helpful hosts! They even let us check out at a later time. It is easy to get to the house by bus or walking from the main shopping/eating area in Reykjavik. Our room was next to the front door so sometimes we could hear talking when guests came in and out but that wasn't too much of a problem. I would definitely recommend staying here!
Rosa and Petur were lovely people and very helpful to me. I felt very welcome in their home.
After we booked, we made several attempts to contact the host to inquire about the possibility of an early check in, as we were on a red eye from the US. No response. Once in Iceland, we left a phone message and text message asking the same thing. Again, no response. We spent the morning at the blue lagoon and made our way to the house, arriving at 2:15pm. We were able to let ourselves in since we had the access code, however, it seemed no one was home. We walked up the stairs to where the rooms were and they were still not cleaned from the previous guests. At this point, a young girl ( looked to be about 10 or 11) finally emerged from her room. She called someone (I presume her mother?) she hung up the phone and said that check in time was 3:00 and we needed to come back then. We went into Reykjavik and grabbed lunch, and by the time we came back, it was nearly 4:30 and the room was still not ready (although they were in the process of cleaning it) we sat in the kitchen, barely able to keep our eyes open while we waited. Once the room was clean, we tried to lay down for a nap and had to listen to the vacuum cleaner for the next hour. On top of that, there was no designated bathroom for guests, and it felt really awkward to share a bathroom with the whole family (and all of their personal items) and whoever else was staying there... We left as early as possible the next day. I realized after we left that I had left my adapter behind. We tried to get in touch with the host to pick it up before we flew back to the US, but not surprisingly, she didn't respond to us...
Hi Shelly, thank you for your review,
I am sorry that the room was not ready when you came to my house, I was working 18 hour days because of summer vacations from other staff in the beauty salon so I had other people to clean for me, It is better to contact me on air bnb not on e-mail. I only read my e-mails when I have time but I always see messages from air bnb and answer them as soon as I can. I can not have the phone on my all the time at my work but I can always see who called me and I always call back if the number is not hidden. I did not receive any text message from you on my phone so I guess you called and send the message to a wrong number.
This is my house where you lived in and when you book on air bnb in someone house you should be ready to share bathrooms and kitchen with other people, we are happy to share with our guests. airbnb listings are not hotel rooms.
Thank you and I hope you had a good trip in Iceland.
