Laugardalur (10 min walk) (Hot Spring Valley) is a major centre for sports and recreation in the capital. In Laugardalur you will find the largest outdoor thermal pool in Reykjavik, Laugardalslaug, in which you can swim all year round. It is very hard to describe the experience of tip-toeing over frozen ground in your swimsuit and immersing yourself in gorgeous water that nature (and some ingenious Icelandic geothermal engineering) has thoughtfully heated to just the right temperature, but the number of returning visitors definitely suggests it’s worth trying.
Laugardalur also has free entry to our beautiful Botanical Garden, with woods, ponds and birdlife. Beneath the branches the lovely Café Flora is a hidden gem.

The Family Park and Zoo in Laugardalur is open all year. The Zoo includes most Icelandic animals, both wild and domesticated, from foxes, reindeer and seals to cattle, horses and sheep. In summer the Family Park offers many rides and play equipment for children of all ages. Outside the summer season the Family Park remains open as a play area.
At the edge of the Laugardalur valley, not far from Laugardalur Arena, is a strangely shaped, domed white building. It is known as the Reykjavik Art Museum’s Ásmundarsafn sculpture collection. This used to be the studio of Asmundur Sveinsson (phone number hidden)), a pioneer of Icelandic sculpture. In addition to his works exhibited inside the museum, a sculpture garden outside contains many of his monumental works.

Reebok Fitness & Supermarket is 5 minute walk away from the apartment.

Cleaning service in included.

  • We stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay also enjoyed the opportunity to meet, interact with Rosa and her husband, Peter. The house was tidy, and comfortable. The location is a few km shy of Reykjavik city center. But, with a bus stop within a 5 min walk from the house, and the buses are frequent with less than 10 min on bus to get to the center of Reykjavik. The neighborhood itself is in a quiet, nice area. The house is walking distance to one of the local swimming pools. Peter (email hidden), and offered helpful suggestions of things to do in the area.

  • We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay with Rosa and her husband, Peter. They were recommended to us by a friend of a friend who had stayed with them previously. The house was clean, tidy, and comfortable. We also enjoyed the opportunity to meet, interact with other guests staying at the house. I didn't look closely at a map of Reykjavik prior to booking, so I was somewhat surprised upon arrival to realize this location is a few km away from the city center. But, there is a bus stop within a 5 min walk from the house, and the buses are very easy to use. It took less than 10 min on bus to get to the center of Reykjavik. The neighborhood itself is in a quiet, nice area. The house is walking distance to one of the local swimming pools. Rosa (email hidden), and offered helpful suggestions of things to do in the area.

  • Rosa and her husband and daughter were very kind and welcoming. We stayed in the little bed room by the front door and used kitchen and bathroom in the downstairs area. Everything worked very well for our needs, and the house is a short drive from downtown. We stayed for two nights and were gone all day to explore the city and found this to be a great base. Since our flight left very late at night rosa even offered for us to stay until then or leave our luggage which was very generous.

  • We arrived late in the night, but the host was up waiting to welcome us and help us with anything we needed, which we greatly appreciated. The place was comfortable and clean. It was close to the bus stop to take us to town, and also a 10 min walk to the grocery store, which was ideal for us. The swimming pool near it was super cool, and the neighborhood lovely. We would definitely recommend Rosa's place to other travelers.

  • Our stay with Rósa Elin Ròs and Pétur was wonderful! They were kind, hospitable, and very generous. Pétur taught us much about Iceland and the people there. Thank you very much, Pétur and Rósa!

  • My daughter (4yr old) and I stayed at Rosa's for four nights while taking in the sites of Reykjavik.
Rosa, her husband and daughter are very friendly. They invited us to share dinner with them one night when the town was closed up due to a public holiday and were really helpful with suggestions of places to visit. Would definitely recommend staying with them.

  • Rosa Bjork´s room in Reykjavik was very centrally and wonderfully
located to be active in the city. It was simply furnished and there
was a well-equipped kitchen with everything you need. We met
the cleaning staff when we arrived who did a very good job and
were very friendly towards us. The house was not so well-sound-
proofed because we could hear a lot going on in the neighboring
room (talking, ring-tones of the mobile). But we managed quite well
and mainly enjoyed the central location.
